I support most of these movements.
I support the armed Corsicans in Corsica fighting for independence from France. They are very careful about their bombs and bullets and rarely even hurt an innocent person, much less kill one. They mostly blow up unoccupied second homes being built on the coast. Sometimes there are people in the homes. In that case, they evacuate them so they can blow it up. Sometimes they strafe police cars and police stations, but that usually doesn’t cause any casualties. Sometimes they bomb police stations, but that usually doesn’t cause any casualties either.
I can hardly think of a more moral guerrilla movement. All they do is cause property damage and scare people. So what?
I also support the ETA in the Basque Country. They’ve declared a cease-fire anyway, and since then, they’ve been hit with endless raids and arrests. If that’s the way it’s going to be, why not take up arms again? Even when they were fighting, they just killed security forces and sometimes a few traitors. They gave ample warning of all their bombs so people could get out of the way.
Plus all of the Basque pro-independence youth movements and political parties have been outlawed as “wings of the ETA.” There are continuous arrests of these unarmed militants. Now that peaceful struggle is outlawed, why not take up arms again? However, the Basque language is in quite good shape these days. They have really turned things around in the past 30 years. It’s not in good shape in France, but even there, things are looking up.
The truth is that Spain and France are basically fascist countries. The fascists never left power in Italy, Spain or Portugal. They’ve been ruled by the Hard Right behind the scenes ever since fascism started. That’s who really runs those countries, no matter how many ruling “Socialist” parties there are. That’s why the Basques and Corsicans have to fight. Until they get a vote for self-determination, they need to fight.
It’s true that Spain has done better than France. Basque, Aranese and Catalan are recognized as official languages of France. The Catalan government mandates schooling in Catalan, TV and radio is in Catalan, signs must be bilingual, etc. This reasonable state of affairs has caused the Spanish speakers to rise up and scream that they are being discriminated against by Catalan fascists. Ridiculous, no?
I also support the Catalan movement, but it’s generally unarmed these days. Surely, they have a right to self-determination too? The Catalan language is actually in pretty good shape, but the Catalans are always screaming about it anyway. There are a few warning signs here and there, and there’s some hostility to Catalan on the part of local governments, especially in Murcia, France, the Balearic Islands and Valencia.
In Brittany, the movement is in very bad shape. I support autonomy there, not independence. The armed movement is dead. A bomb in a MacDonald’s in 2001 killed a young girl employee, and since then, the Breton movement has been more or less unarmed due to public revulsion over the act. The Bretons were very careful to try not to hurt innocent people with their bombs, but it looks like in this case, they fucked up.
There’s a pretty simple solution to all of these conflicts. Just give the separatists or autonomists a vote. In Brittany, they want simple stuff like Breton classes or bilingual or immersion programs in school. They badly need this because frankly, the Breton language is in catastrophic shape.
The French have always resisted this, a centralizing tendencies dating back to Jacobinism. The French Left has always been infected with Jacobinism due to the history of their Left, hence the somewhat fascist nature of the French Left. They frequently attack movements for minority languages as a reactionary indulgence.
Unfortunately, Jacobinism has sunk deep roots into the French body politic, and most French are Jacobins out of instinct alone it seems. At this point, they are probably genetically selecting for it.
Anders Breivik is of course the anti-Islamic Norwegian cultural conservative who killed 76 people in two attacks in Oslo, Norway the other day. Much nonsense has been written about these attacks. He wrote a manifesto, which I am currently reading. It’s 1,510 pages long. I’ve only read some of it – about 750 pages or so, but it’s very interesting. I agree with Kevin MacDonald that he is an important political thinker.
He’s simply a political terrorist like Osama bin Laden and his followers. He attacked arguably political institutions – first of all, buildings of the Norwegian state in an attempt to kill the Prime Minister, then later a youth camp for young leaders of Norwegian Labour Party. These are the elite children of the leadership of the party, and most of them will probably go on to become party political operative and even leaders. So it was a political attack by an armed terrorist organization.
The only thing yucky about the attack is that many of those targeted were children. Even if you argue that these kids were going to go on to become party political operatives and leaders, there is something nasty about killing unarmed minors. However, this aspect was overblown, and my analysis showed that about 2/3 of those killed were adults, making them legitimate targets.
I do not think that government officials and adults who are in line to become the future leadership of a political party are “innocent civilians,” sorry. This guy says he’s at war with the state, and in that role, political figures are certainly legitimate targets.

Not that I agree with his ideology or his goals. As a Leftist, of course I am saddened that my comrades were gunned down so cruelly like this. I also don’t agree with his anti-Islamic agenda.

The killer is a Christian fundamentalist. He most certainly is not! In fact, he states in his book that he lacks a personal relationship with Jesus or God. Nevertheless, he prayed before his operation, and he quotes liberally from the Bible, mostly Old Testament verse that dispels the notion that Christianity is a religion of peace. He quotes sections saying that Christians have a right to fight back against their enemies.
What this guy is is a cultural Christian. It’s a phrase he uses a lot. He even supports what he calls atheist Christians and agnostic Christians in his crusade against Islam. He feels that Europe is a culturally Christian continent, and of course he is right. He feels that this nominally Christian culture is in danger from the encroachment of Islam.
The killer is a racist. He’s not really a racist, though he flirts with it a bit. The document is confused in this regard. He states over and over that he is an anti-racist, but that’s not exactly the case either.
For instance, he does not believe that European Whites should breed with non-Whites. He worries about the allegiances of European non-White non-Muslims in the Civil War that he predicts will engulf Europe.
And he recommends that the US be partitioned off into a White state for Whites and a multicultural state for everyone else. So as far as his recommendations for the US go, he’s a White nationalist. He is also very sympathetic to the plight of the South African Afrikaners, and he feels that the Blacks are waging a race war against them. He acknowledges that Gypsies are widely hated, and he wants to set up a homeland for them somewhere in Anatolia after it is heavily cleansed of Muslims.
But he does enlist the support of non-White Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, atheists and agnostics in his war against the Muslims. He’s had many friends of all different races, and in his personal views, he’s not much of a racialist.

The killer is a fascist. This is more difficult to refute, though he claims to be an antifascist, and he writes a lot about how much he dislikes the National Socialist racists in Europe. In particular, as a Judeophile, he opposes their anti-Semitism, which he sees as ridiculous.
However, at the same time, he also praises certain aspects of National Socialism and offers an apologetics for Hitler’s treatment of the Jews. He acknowledges that the Holocaust occurred, but says that Hitler originally just wanted to deport the Jews, but was forced to exterminate them to get rid of a Fifth Column when the Nazis started losing the war in 1942. Actually, I think the Holocaust started before then. He also approves of National Socialist anti-feminism, monoculture and conservative values.

At the same time, he sees the Nazi card as an albatross around the neck of European nationalists, and he says that they need to break free of that if they are ever going to succeed. He opposes White nationalism for similar reasons, that it will never get majority support from Europeans.
What he wants is majority support for his War on Islam project, and the best way to get that is to chuck the Nazism and White ethnic nationalism. He sees anti-Islamic nationalism as having potentially majority support, and he wants to get rid of all of the problematic elements that could diminish such support.
His political project involves rightwing coups in Europe that overthrow the multiculturalist states. They would then institute a short lived dictatorship in which rights would be suspended. 100-200,000 top level multiculturalist traitors would be hunted down and executed by the new state. Many others would be exiled. Freedom of speech would be curtailed indefinitely under the new regimes as “multiculturalist propaganda” would be banned.
Those Muslims who do not convert out would be deported from Europe back to Muslim lands. Muslim lands in the Balkans, Anatolia, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt would be conquered and resettled with Greeks, Macedonians, Serbs, Croats, Armenians, Assyrians and Copts. This is frankly a fascist project whether he admits it or not.

The killer is mentally ill. Having read through hundreds of pages of his stuff, I do not agree with this charge at all. Some of his politics is a bit confused, but that goes with the territory. On the other hand, the document is lucid, well-written and coherent. Ideologically, it fits together very well. He’s very intelligent and very well-read. His political project is sensible, well thought out and follows logically. He doesn’t believe in conspiracy theory, which makes him less nuts that your average Muslim or American.
The killer is a sociopath. I don’t agree. I think he is just a political terrorist. There are acts of political terrorism occurring all over the world, all the time. Those who engage in them and those who order them are not necessarily sociopaths. They are warriors, either members of militaries or some sort of guerrillas.
He actually seemed somewhat sensitive, and he spent quite a few pages agonizing over the nature of the acts he was about to engage in.
He concluded that Catholic Church absolves sins committed in the defense of religion, in particular in defense a Christian Crusade against Islam. This came up quite a bit back in the day when Crusaders were accused of sin during the various Crusades. The Church concluded that sins committed during the Crusades were absolved by the Church as necessary for the defense of the religion.
In addition, they could be redeemed via indulgences bought up by the collective good deeds of Jesus and the saints. By the theory of indulgences, sinners can redeem their sins by trading them in as it were for redemption. The redemption would be purchased via the good deeds done by Jesus, the saints and other good Christians.
At one point, he launches into an argument about whether it is a good idea to kill 100 to save 1000. He thinks it is.
On the other hand, he also feels that his targets, the multicultural Cultural Marxist elite of Europe, are traitors that need to be killed in order to save the continent from Islam. However, many political terrorists think their victims have it coming. Such a belief is not indicative of sociopathy.

The killers has no point or legitimate project. Unfortunately, he does have a point and a legitimate project. Islam frankly has been a total disaster in Western Europe. Importing millions of Muslims, most of whom will never assimilate, into the UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Germany has been a complete catastrophe. It’s time to admit that it’s a failure.
A few Muslims are not much of a problem, but over a certain percentage, they are simply not compatible with a modern, Western, secular, culturally Christian state. Projections showing an Islamic Europe in 70 years or so are terrifying. There’s not much to do about it except to stop importing them to Western Europe.
Many nations of the West don’t have a Muslim problem yet. These include the nations of Eastern Europe, Finland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the US and New Zealand. In most cases, the Muslim percentages here are low. The US
Deporting Muslims is not doable, so the countries with Muslim problems above should simply stop importing them and hope their birth rate slows down. The Muslim nations of Albania, Bosnia, Tunisia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan already have below replacement birth rates. 15

I found this intriguing. The normal response is to say that this is due to racism. However, that may not be the case. I thought about this for a few days, and I finally decided that it must be due to White racism, and can’t possibly be due to anything else. I suppose one could argue that the threats are due to his liberalism, but that seems a little dubious. Is Obama really all that more liberal than Bill Clinton? Not really, or not by much anyway. Hell, Hillary is his Secretary of State. Anyway, Richard Nixon was about as liberal as either Obama or Clinton.That leaves race. It’s got to be race. White racism against a Black President. AU told me that when Black Hank Aaron was moving in on White Babe Ruth’s home run record, he started getting lots of death threats, all from Whites apparently. As he got closer and closer to breaking the Babe’s record, the death threats went up and up. I always thought Blacks were paranoid and nutty about this “the Whites won’t let us succeed”, and “every time a Black man succeeds, the Whites try to tear him down” stuff, but it looks like there is a grain of truth there. People are scared. Really scared. They’re so scared they want to kill. They want to kill the one who’s making them feel this way. This is a dangerous situation. The man had a long history as a far rightwing crank. He is very bright, and is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ organization. He was an advertising executive and film producer in New York during his working career.
Since retirement, he has devoted himself to radical, White supremacist, anti-Semitic and Holocaust Denial causes, publishes several self-published books. His book, Tob Shebbe Goyim Harog (Kill The Best Gentiles), is said to be the culmination of his life’s work (excerpts). Tob Shebbe Goyim Harog, Kill the Best Gentiles or literally Kill the Best of the Gentiles is one of the wildest pieces of anti-Semitism I have ever read. I thought it was pretty entertaining as far as this stuff goes. He traces the Jewish conspiracy back further than anyone else ever has, back to ancient Egypt! Turns out that the progenitors of the Jews were already doing their sneaky and wily tricks in the days of Pharaohs and caused serious damage to Egyptian civilization. They got thrown out and hightailed it to Palestine where they continued their nefarious ways, and, as they say, the rest is history. I’ll keep this up there until my webhost removes it. Unfortunately, they tend to class this stuff as “racist propaganda” and take it down.

Many have noted that, at age 88, James von Brunn was nearing the end of his life. The implication is that he wanted to go out with a bang. His own wife said von Brunn, a macho guy who looked and acted like John Wayne, had said he wanted to “die with his boots on.” Yet if you look at his Internet postings since last November, von Brunn has sometimes been signing them James van Brunn-88. He’s probably been 88 years old since November. The number 88 has special significance for neo-Nazis, and von Brunn was a neo-Nazi all right. “H” is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so Heil Hitler, with both words starting with an h, can be coded as “88” for short. And that’s what “88” means in neo-Nazi circles – Heil Hitler. It’s kind of a code they use a lot to show others what they believe. The number “14” is also used a lot, often in combination. The combination looks something like “14 88”. The convicted neo-Nazi terrorist from the group The Order titled his famous tract, 14 Words and 88 Precepts. This is apparently where they get the number 14. The 14 words can refer to either, “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children,” or “Because the beauty of the White Aryan woman must not perish from the earth.” At age 88, James von Brunn decided to put his neo-Nazi beliefs into action, saying “Heil Hitler!” in his own deadly way by shooting up the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. There are Obama Birthers and there are 9-11 Truthers. I certainly do not believe in any hard form of the 9-11 Truth Movement, such as Israel Did 9-11 or the US Government Did 9-11. I think Al Qaeda Did 9-11. However, I acknowledge that the Israelis may have had some foreknowledge and may have failed to warn. They’ve done that before, notably in the Hezbollah truck bombing of the US Marine barracks on Lebanon in 1983. Thanks Israelis! Anyway, the 9-11 Truth Movement is kind of like the Obama Birth Movement in that it has attracted all sorts of kooks and nutjobs. They range from Left to Right, but one thing they often have in common at the very least is some kind of anti-Zionism at best or anti-Semitism at worst, as is frequently the case. In fact, this James von Brunn guy’s belief system is quite common in the Movement. James von Brunn was a 9-11 Truther. He signed some petition for the movement, but as soon as that came to light, the 9-11 Truthers scrubbed his name. Here’s the scrubbed version of the page with his sig missing. But not so fast. Here is the cached version with von Brunn’s name intact. Here is a Yahoo posting where von Brunn mentions that he is a 9-11 Truther. According to von Brunn, the “Illuminati” did 9-11. This guy who calls himself Tommy Overload on his Yahoo profile reposts a lot of von Brunn’s stuff. He’s a retired jazz musician living in Arkansas. Here is Terrible Tommy’s blog, Constitution Revolution. It provides a good overview of the mindset of guys like Tommy and von Brunn. There also seem to be links to the Patriot or Constitutionalist Movement. The rightwing crazy, Scott Roeder, who shot George Tiller, one of only three doctors left in the US who perform late-term abortion, was also heavily involved in the Patriot Movement. A White Supremacist shot and killed three cops in Pennsylvania recently. Richard Poplawski frequented Alex Jones’ 9-11 Truth Movement Infowars site, a site that von Brunn and Roeder also frequented. 9-11 Truthers have murdered five people in overtly political killings so far this year. Poplawski also frequented the Stormfront White Supremacist and neo-Nazi site. Poplawski was also an anti-Semite like von Brunn. A schizophrenic who frequented the White Supremacist site Podblanc shot and killed his father for unknown reasons. He was also a 9-11 Truther and he frequented Alex Jones’ site. This is the strange document from James von Brunn’s website, Federal Reserve Caper and Precedents, in which von Brunn discusses his caper at the Federal Reserve Board in 1983, where he attempted to place the Board under citizen’s arrest. He was armed with a rifle, a pistol and a large knife at the time and he had a fake bomb in his car. He was apprehended by police in the hallway outside of a room where the Board was holding a meeting. I have not yet read this document, but I hear it is pretty entertaining. I enjoy this guy’s writing style. He’s an excellent writer and we can see a fine mind at work here, despite the whacky politics. If not for the deadly antics at the Holocaust Museum, the guy’s practically engaging in Life as Performance Art. Well, I guess even the Holocaust shootout could be seen as a Performance Art performance, albeit a deadly one. Other than the fact that he killed some poor guy for no reason, I think James von Brunn is pretty damn funny. And when you think about it, that Federal Reserve caper is downright hilarious, especially since no one got hurt. He should have charged admission for that one. I italicized the punch line in case some of you are too slow to get the joke. I think that’s pretty funny, albeit in a sick way since I believe in the Holocaust. The cleansing of James von Brunn’s online activity continues. von Brunn is the guy who shot up the Holocaust Museum yesterday. Here is his biography from the Askart.com site, which has since been pulled. It is interesting in that it provides some clues to his anti-Semitism. When he worked in New York as an ad man in the 1960’s, he was repeatedly told to change his German name, since he would never get far in the industry with a German name. A number of ad men with German names had changed their surnames to non-German ones to try to get ahead. The suggestion was that Jews in the heavily-Jewish ad industry were discriminating against those with German names. von Brunn refused to change his name. In 1968, Abe Fortas, Jewish, was nominated to the US Supreme Court. von Brunn was watching in a bar and made an unfavorable comment about Fortas. A Jewish executive made a snide remark in return. A few minutes later, the Jewish businessman sneaked up behind von Brunn and tried to punch him. von Brunn ducked, turned around, and knocked the guy to the floor. The police came, and a fight ensued with the cops. von Brunn was arrested. von Brunn was convicted of drunk driving and resisting arrest and sentenced to 2 years in jail. He also had his license pulled. Later he moved to California and remarried, this time to a young woman. In 1975, he and a female friend published a book called, “The Zionist Rape of the Holy Land,” authored by George Robnett. He received several threatening phone calls, apparently from Jews, warning him not to publish the book, but he published it anyway. Soon after, unknown arsonists burned down his house while he was in it. von Brunn barely escaped. von Brunn suspected that Jews opposed to his publishing the anti-Zionist book had burned down his house. The wife became very upset after the arson and died soon after, apparently of stress brought on by the arson. von Brunn’s famous assault on the Federal Reserve building was glossed by himself as an attempt to get back at his enemies, apparently the Jews, as the Board for some strange reason is almost all Jewish. He served a sentence for that crime, and was released early. In Maryland, local galleries would not show his art, which is apparently high quality.The media is portraying this guy as some desperate loser and “failed artist,” reminiscent of the “failed artist” smear on Hitler. Hitler, whatever his bad qualities, was not a bad artist, and most artists by that definition are “failed” anyway, as they do not hit the bigtime. It appears that instead of being a loser in life, von Brunn led a rich and rewarding life as a successful man in a variety of occupations. He made good money and managed his own businesses. He married well and raised a family who remained close to him throughout life. Rather than being a failed artist, he seems to have been quite talented. Other than his anti-Semitism and racism, which apparently got worse with age, he was not a failure by any means. It’s bad enough what he did. Why pile it on? BIOGRAPHY The von Brunn/Wenneker families migrated from Germany/Austria c. 1845, settling in St. Louis, Missouri. James von Brunn’s father, Elmer, was superintendent of Scullin Steel Mill. During WWII he designed, and supervised a 40mm shell plant for the U.S. government in Houston, Texas. His wife Hope Wenneker von Brunn, educated at Hosmer Hall, was a homemaker and accomplished pianist. They had two children, James (JvB) and Alyce. The family spent summer months at Piasa. Illinois, where JvB roamed the limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, hunted snakes and turtles in the willows along its banks, and collected Indian artifacts. His grandmother Wenneker (grossemutter) gave him an oil paint set for his 7th birthday. His inspiration to paint came from Scribner Illustrated Classics and painters such as Pyle, Schoonover, and Wyeth. But his painting, because of his love of athletics, was confined to days of inclement weather. During the hiatus between high school and college he hitchhiked through Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. JvB was educated in public schools. He matriculated at Washington University in 1938. He became president of SAE and played varsity football. The coach got him a Structural Bridge, Steel and Iron-Workers union card. During the summer months JvB worked as a punk hauling coal for forges perched high-up on steel-girders – buildings being constructed for the war effort. As experienced men were drafted into the Sea-Bees JvB quickly graduated to rivet-bucker and finally riveter. Either you conquered your fear and walked the beams or you quit. The other option was a long way down. At the University JvB was in the Liberal Arts program. He enrolled in art classes where he learned that Marxist/Liberal concepts dominated the program. Anatomy studies were discarded along with perspective, drawing and old master techniques. Western Culture was replaced by “expressionism.” We see the results today in expensive art produced by monkeys, elephants, Pollack and pianists who play with their elbows. JvB changed directions, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism. The following day he was inducted into the U.S. Naval Reserve. As an Ensign he was shipped overseas in 1943 to “destroy the German disease,” just as his family before him had been sent to “save the world for Democracy.” JvB became a PT-boat captain, serving in the Med and Pacific theaters. He was honorably discharged in March 1946 as a Lieutenant with 3-battle stars and a Commendation from Admiral Hewitt. While in the service JvB painted watercolors of the passing scene. JvB moved to New York City in 1947. He studied figure painting at the Central Park School of Art, located on Madison Ave at 57th Street, Manhattan. To make ends meet he worked in a bank vault at night. He attempted to crack into the newspaper business but all doors were closed to conservatives. Instead, he found a job in big-league advertising on Madison Avenue where he started as paste-up boy at $35 per week. He attended evening classes at the Art Student’s League where he studied color and design under Howard Trafton. At that time the so-called “Holocaust” burst upon the scene. JvB was asked to change his German name by several companies during his 20-years New York career. Eric Sloane (Heinrichs) advised JvB to do as he had, “You’ll never make it in New York if you don’t.” JvB exhibited his easel paintings at the Commodore Hotel, Hotel Biltmore, Abercrombie & Fitch, and the Eastside Gallery. He illustrated for Wm. Morrow Publishers, and for two art studios. As an agency art-director JvB was asked to create story-boards for television. This took him to the set where he learned film techniques. Eventually he became an advertising executive film- producer-director and eventually producer director for two prominent film/tape production companies. In 1951 JvB and Patricia Beverley-Giddings were married. Her father, creative director and novelist, was a Sandhurst graduate and an RFC pursuit-pilot, WWI. He survived being shot down by von Richtofen’s Flying Circus. During WWII he was a member of British Intelligence. Bev owned a manor house on Maryland’s Eastern Shore where the family gathered for holidays and for the shooting season. Tidewater country presented a wealth of subject matter ranging from watermen and their rigs to sporting scenes, and scapes. This was grist for JVB’s paint brush. In 1951 Patricia gave birth to a baby boy, Jim “Bim” von Brunn. Pat was unable to have any more children. Bim attended the Church of Heavenly Rest, and Trinity, in NYC; the Country School, in Easton; St. Andrews prep-school, and University of Miami, Florida. While in New York, Gen. Pedro del Valle, Gen. Mac Arthur’s commander of Artillery in Korea, presented JvB with John O. Beatty’s famous, “Iron Curtain Over America.” This book had a tremendous affect upon JvB’s life and career. Von Brunn became an historical-revisionist, committed to the belief that the true histories of WWI and WWII had been hidden from the American People. JvB moved to Easton, MD where he established an advertising agency. He was elected president of the Academy of the Arts. His friend Lee Lawrie, renowned sculptor, was co-founder of the Academy. Meanwhile JvB’s political posture placed a burden on his marriage. Patricia and JvB parted company. The divorce was a tragedy for all concerned. On his 48th birthday JvB, at a local bistro, celebrated his acquisition of the City of Cambridge Economic Development account. JvB had a few beers with friends at the Cambridge bar where they watched a TV broadcast of a Yankee baseball game. A newscaster suddenly interrupted to announce Lyndon Johnson’s nomination of Abe Fortas to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. JvB made an unfavorable comment about Fortas, which drew a crude response from a prominent Jewish business man. A few minutes later JvB saw this guy in the mirror sneaking up. When he swung JvB ducked, turned around and knocked the guy to the floor. Shortly, thereafter JvB was arrested. One thing led to another and a fight broke out with the police. At the trial the brilliant Gen. Pedro del Vallee, testified in JvB’s behalf. This infuriate the jury and the Judge, who’s chief accomplishment was a lucrative speed-trap operation on Route 50. JvB was convicted of resisting arrest, drunken driving, etc., all highly exaggerated, and sentenced to two-years in jail. He lost his driver’s license. The business man who started the fight never appeared in court and disappeared into the woodwork. Shortly thereafter Abe Fortas was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to 5-years in a country-club prison. He served 1.5 years and, like Boesky and Miliken, kept most of the loot. Von Brunn – when he wasn’t with the road-gang maintaining the judge’s home and grounds with State-owned material – completed the design and copy for a 4-color brochure produced for Frank Perdue, the chicken king. JvB also painted the harbor as seen through the barred window of his cell. Fortuitously von Brunn developed a serious staph infection in the nape of his neck. Doctors persuaded the Judge to release him. Upon recovery von Brunn migrated to Florida where he became a real-estate broker and stock-broker. While there JvB painted Florida scapes, cloud formations, and a few portraits. He exhibited at Las Olas Galleries. With money earned in Florida Real Estate, JvB took his new bride, Pat Taylor, twenty years his junior, a night-club singer, and her young daughter to California. In 1975, JvB purchased 10-acres of pasture east of Redding near Mt. Lassen, with a view of Mt. Shasta, and the Sacramento River valley. JvB and his friend Florence Robnett, 83, former Dean of Women at Northwestern University and native Cornhusker, cooperated to build a home which JvB designed, containing the amenities plus an art studio, music room, large library and office space. Florence and JvB published a paper-back, “Zionist Rape of the Holy Land” (formerly titled “Conquest Through Immigration”) written by George Robnett, deceased, with the Forward by Millar Burrows, Dean Emeritus, Yale Divinity School, and illustrated by von Brunn. JvB received several threatening telephone calls warning him not to distribute the book. Meanwhile Pat gave birth to a baby boy, they called Erik. While giving the baby his bottle at 2 AM, JvB looked through the window into the pasture. The moon-mist was bathed in a red glow. He rushed outside to find the roof was ablaze. The house, which they had lived in for only 4-months, burned to the ground. The mournful chord of the grand piano crashing into the basement and the shriek of the quarter horse are sounds not easily forgotten. A neighbor told von Brunn that he had gone outside to quiet his boar-hounds He heard what sounded like the pop of a flare-gun, then car doors slamming and a car squealing down the black-top. But no evidence was ever discovered to prove arson. Florence died soon thereafter of shock. Fearing for his family’s safety, JvB returned to Maryland where he devised a scheme to expose his enemies. He planned and conducted a legal, non-violent, citizens arrest of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, in Washington, D.C. He accused them of treason. The FED, a private corporation, conceived by the Rothschilds, had financed the construction of manufacturing plants in the USSR that produced war materials used against U.S. forces fighting in Korea and Viet Nam. Money is the source of all power. JvB was convicted for attempted kidnapping, robbery, burglary, carrying a weapon (not loaded), etc, in a kangaroo court. JvB served 6.5-years of an 11-year sentence. While in federal prison JvB designed brochures, etc., and painted three large murals (18 x 35) and many portraits. In 1989 JvB was released from prison with $50 and shoes 2-sizes too big. His sister Alyce, dependable and staunch as a rock, provided him a place to reside in her duplex. His wife remarried. His two sons live out-of-state but telephone frequently and visit from time to time. Pusillanimous Eastonians, hiding behind political correctness refuse to display JvB’s paintings, nor will they engage in business with him. However, von Brunn continues to exhibit under assumed names away from the Shore. In small towns across America the blind and cowardly scramble, push and shove getting and spending while their homes are burning and their complexions grow progressively darker.
