"Israel's Key Vulnerability" by Abiezer Coppe

Here is another post by guest poster Abiezer Coppe, Israel’s Key Vulnerability. I agree with several of his points here. First of all, armed resistance to Israel by the Palestinians is clearly futile. What’s the point? They are up against the 4th largest army on Earth with 200 nuclear weapons. These measly rockets are going to beat them how. On the ground, there’s no contest. The Palestinians got creamed in this last invasion of Gaza. I agree that it is absurd for Hamas to declare to a victory when they just got their ass handed to them in the worst way, but this is how Arabs are. An Arab will never admit he lost. Even if he gets creamed worse than Custer at Little Bighorn, it’s still a Great Victory for the Mighty Arabs. I also agree that Israel has violated its own UN Charter that it signed in order to be admitted to the UN, and as such, I think Israel ought to be thrown out of the UN on its butt. This will never happen, but it’s a nice fantasy. I can see Abe Foxman and the US editorial pages squirming and writhing like Linda Blair in the Exorcist right now. Boycotts of Israel are driving the world’s Jews and their media and government Gentile buddies into insane conniption fits, but it’s a great idea. It worked for South Africa. It’s important to note that South African anti-apartheid Blacks who have been to Palestine often say that the Israeli Apartheid regime under which the Palestinians live is worse than Apartheid South Africa. So if it was righteous to boycott South Africa, and I say it was, it is even more righteous to boycott Israel. The Jews usually say an Israeli boycott is outrageously anti-Semitic because we are not boycotting all the other asshole countries on Earth. Instead we are singling out one asshole country, Israel, and letting the other anal pores off the hook. It’s Intra-Asshole Country Discrimination and dammit, it’s just not fair! Equal protection for assholes! I really do not know what to make of this bizarre argument, except to ask if anyone ever used it against the South African campaign. To Israel, I say, yeah we’re singling out as one Asshole Country in a world full of Butt Nations. One Buttland at a time, please. We will get to the others later on. I’ve long been a supporter of Fritz Fanon. The only anti-Semite I have ever met who truly hated Nazism was a Leftist Fritz Fanonist who likened the Palestinian liberation struggle to the Algerian Civil War.

Israel’s Key Vulnerability

Abiezer Coppe

Israel has once more sent out a message to the Islamic and Arab world with its onslaught on Gaza that the struggle for the Middle East will be uncompromisingly bloody and violent. It was the same message in the summer of 2006 with the invasion of the Lebanon, with the Qana massacre of 1996, with the invasion and the 18 year occupation of the Lebanon in 1982 to 2000, and all the way back to 1948. For those who abjure violence in their personal lives, and for those, like me, who have never carried or used a gun, the boycott campaign is an important tool of nonviolent struggle against the Occupation of the West Bank, and the racist polity within the ever shifting borders of Israel, the borderless state in Occupied Palestine. I admire Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s armed resistance against overwhelming force, but it should be by now clear after sixty one years that by itself armed resistance to Zionism will not lead to its overthrow. The most these organisations can do to Israel is harass, with as much impact as a wasp stinging a human being. This in itself is not negligible. The main effect of the missiles launched over Israel’s border is psychological terror, and occasional fatalities, against which the fourth most powerful military machine in the world is powerless. Psychological terror may discourage new Jewish immigrants from arriving in Israel, and that is to the good. However such tactics do not even elicit a pause from Israel’s political leadership, Right and Left, in the ongoing war on the Palestinians, the Zionist project of clearing the land of Arabs, and the continued illegal settlement by Jews of the Palestine’s West Bank. Clearly Hamas and other resistance organizations are quite powerless by themselves to stop Zionism in its tracks. In a defensive struggle the Shi’ite organization Hezbollah did succeed in throwing the IDF out of Lebanon in the year 2000, and successfully frustrated Israel’s attempt to reoccupy the Southern Lebanon in 2006. Israeli expansionism was thus contained. At no point in the last sixty one years have Arab armies succeeded in crossing Israel’s 1967 borders, or even in invading the annexed West Bank. Israel’s wars, including that of 1948, have been fought on the territory of other countries. The Yom Kippur War of 1973, although a partial defeat for the Arabs, did eventually lead to the return of the Sinai to Egypt (under American pressure) during the Carter administration. The regional military balance has been shifting in Israel’s favour for the last sixty years (Mayer 2008). Talk of Hamas’ “victory” in Gaza in 2009 is in my view self-deluding and misplaced. An unopposed massacre of over 1400 civilians is not a victory. I do not want to see the Palestinian resistance reduced to the equivalent of the Native American “ghost dances” of the 1880s, as the last resistance of the aboriginal inhabitants of Palestine is vanquished. I do not think for a moment that this will happen, because the Palestinian Diaspora now numbers more than 7 million, but the weakness of the opposition to the Zionist colonisation of Palestine within Israel is very concerning, and a helping hand from an international citizens’ boycott of Israeli goods and services is its chief, but not its only hope. Arab resistance and Arab demography are other reasons to hope. Armed resistance to military occupation, as enshrined in the UN charter, is legal: Israel itself is of doubtful legality, as outlined below. As the infamous Irgun terrorist Menachem Begin and future Israeli Prime Minister remarked the day after the UN vote on the partition of Palestine in November 1947: “The Partition of Palestine is illegal. It will never be recognized…Jerusalem was and will forever be our capital. Eretz Israel will be restored to the people of Israel. All of it. And forever.” Israel has not accepted a single UN resolution on Palestine from Day One, and its founding act as a state was a massive and violent process of ethnic cleansing, illegal in International Law. The current prime minster of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, is a direct descendant of the brand of Zionism represented by Begin. In order to be accepted as a member state in the United Nations, in 1949, Israel was required to endorse General Assembly Resolution 194, which recognizes the right of return of the Palestinian refugees and commits itself to the return of all “the refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours” (700,000 in total at the time), to its sovereign territory. Israel accepted, was made a member state and immediately after announced it had no intention of implementing the UN resolution. Israel thus announced its illegitimacy as a member state of the UN. The Security Council, dominated by the imperialist states of the West, and in particular the UK, which helped to implant Israel in the Middle East in the first place, went along for the ride, as did the Soviet Union. Israel’s key vulnerability lies in its being a trading state with a highly skilled workforce but few natural resources. The boycott of Israeli products, coupled with divestment in Israeli companies and a cultural embargo has to be a key way of supporting the Islamic and secular Palestinian resistance (PFLP), as well as a way of applying pressure to the Zionist establishment to moderate its penchant for atrocities, encouraging dissent within Israel and the deepening of existing fissures within Israeli society. If an international boycott can be linked to the issue of Return for the Palestinians and the cancellation of the Jewish Right of Return, an uncontroversial strategic goal in support of the Palestinians can be flagged up for the movement. In January 2009 479 Israeli citizens signed a document called A Call From Israeli Citizens calling for the boycott of Israeli products, divestment from and sanctions against Israel as the only way forward to begin the Civil-ization (in both senses – demilitarisation as well – Occupied Palestine to become a civilian society once again rather than a garrison state) of the Zionist military machine and stop the ongoing war on the Palestinian population. In the 1980s Meron Benvenisti, an Israeli writer and ex-deputy mayor of Jerusalem, ran the West Bank Data Project, which analyzed the interaction of the Israeli and Palestinian economies in the Occupation. The resulting study concluded that the West Bank had effectively been annexed by Israel, not merely occupied (Benvenisti 1995). As pre-1967 Israel was also an annexation by military force, accompanied by some strong arming of Truman and the infant United Nations by Zionist elements in the American Jewish community, the term “Occupied Palestine” correctly refers to the whole of the land between the river Jordan and the sea. Any other designation fudges the evidence, which suggests that the military occupation of the West Bank will remain until the post-1948 colonial regime itself is either brought down or collapses under the weight of its own internal contradictions, to be replaced by a non-colonial political order and the re-establishment of political and economic equality between Arab and Jew. Before 1967 Palestinian civilians of Israel also lived under a military occupation, and were in a similar position politically to those of the West Bank and Gaza now. The Palestinian American writer Rashid Khalidi uses the term helot (a term from the Greek language of Ancient Greece to designate an indeterminate status between that of a slave and that of a citizen) to designate the position of Palestinian civilians who have neither the civil rights nor the political opportunity to influence the behaviour of the state that dominates and controls their lives in endlessly demeaning and demoralising ways. Palestinian terror in the form of suicide bombing, a response of the powerless to the removal of liberty and civil rights and the ongoing illegal confiscation of land for Jewish settlements, first arose in Palestine in 1994, the year in which the grotesquely unjust Oslo Peace Process faltered. In the same year, the Jewish physician and the extremist Kach Party member Baruch Goldstein, who now has a shrine in his honour drawing hundreds of tourists and supporters, murdered 29 Muslims at prayer and wounded a further 150 at the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron. Israeli Jews who view suicide bombing as a peculiarly Palestinian or Islamic pathology should recall the biblical story of Samson, the first recorded suicide attacker, and ask themselves under what extreme conditions of dispossession and oppression, and under what conditions of political despair, would they themselves consider such an act to be an attractive course of action. Those who do not like equality before the law and citizenship for all will leave, just as the Algerian French did together with some of the pieds noirs in 1962, helping to solve the problem of housing some of the Palestinian refugees from Occupied Palestine at a stroke. Frantz Fanon’s two most important books, Black Skin, White Masks, and The Wretched of the Earth, have now been translated into Hebrew as of 2004. I am sure that they have been available in Arabic for a long time, but the political culture of the Hebrews is backward and inward looking, which is to be expected in a colonial state. Were the champion of the Algerian liberation struggle Fanon alive today (he would be 82 years old) he would certainly support the Palestinians. It is our privilege and  duty as free citizens of the international community to do the same by supporting the boycott of Israeli goods. Dorothy Naor, a 77 year old Jewish Israeli with whom I have been in email contact since the invasion of Gaza, is a signatory to the aforementioned boycott document A Call From Israeli Citizens, has been an Israeli resident of Occupied Palestine since 1958, immigrating from the USA. Her activism starts from the premise that the occupation of Palestine, of which she is part as an American Jew, began in 1948, and can be reversed. She is one of a very small minority of historically conscious Israeli Jews. Reversing a colonial occupation, which in this case does not mean throwing the colonists out, is an enormously ambitious project, but it can be done, and the worldwide tide of protest and action is rising.

Some Toponyms of the Near and Mid Orient

Looking east from Europe, as we Eurocentrists are wont to do of course, we find a variety of baffling terms, most of which are not used much anymore, but which are still often useful for pinpointing an area. The problem is if you go by official definitions, you get tremendous overlap, so let’s try to make some exclusive definitions if we can. First of all, the Near East. I am not quite sure what this means, but I will hazard a guess that it means at least Turkey, Greece and Cyprus in the southeast Mediterranean. I suppose we can throw in Egypt too, since it always seems silly to call Egypt part of the Middle East while leaving out the rest of North Africa. Wikipedia has it including the Arab lands of the East and Southeast Mediterranean too, but nowadays, that is usually referred to as the Middle East. An excellent term you may come across from time to time is West Eurasia. I like it myself because it’s guaranteed that hardly anyone will know what I am talking about when I say that, and that way I get to sound really smart. West Eurasia redirects to Eurasia in Wikipedia, Eurasia being something like Europe and Asia combined. How is this helpful? So the Whites and the Yellows can gang up on the Blacks and the Reds? It’s useless. West Eurasia, though, is pretty neat. It doesn’t seem to have much of a solid definition, but the best I could come up with mucking around was something like “the Caucasus and environs.” It’s debatable whether or not we should toss in something called “Anatolia”. Maybe the eastern part of it? Sounds good. Another nice one is the Middle East. Everyone loves to utter this one these days. Wikipedia’s definition is way too expansive. It clearly includes all of Arabia, but it ought to exclude most of North Africa, although we often throw in Egypt. Greece, Turkey and the Caucasus should clearly be excluded. Iran often gets lumped in, but there are better ways to describe Iran. The Middle East is pretty much Arabia, the Levant, Mesopotamia, Israel and Egypt. It has a heavy connotation with the Arabic language and also Israel. For the constituent parts of the Middle East, let us look first at Arabia. It’s nothing but the Arabian Peninsula, as Wikipedia points out. It includes Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and Kuwait. Whether you want to include Bedouin regions of neighboring states is a harder question. Culturally, sure, they are Arabia, but toponymically? Dubious. You can also use it in sort of a weird way to mean “the Arab-speaking world”, but that’s a little tricky. Arabia is a fun term to toss around because people will look at you funny when you say it. Some smart people will ask, “You mean Saudi Arabia?” Then you put on your glasses and look down at them a bit and describe how actually it means the whole Gulf. Egypt is in a class of its own in the Middle East. All the rest of the North African Arab states are not really part of the Middle East, as they are getting farther and farther west and are on the same longitude as much of Europe so Eurocentrically it’s absurd to say they are medially eastern to Europe proper. They’re south of Europe, and in many ways, they are part European. Further, the culture, genes and even language is more Berber than Arab. Even the Egyptians are pretty Berberized. We must make a distinction between the true Arabs of the Middle East east of the Suez and Berberized North Africans. The Levant is a cool term. Wikipedia’s version once again appears a bit expansive. It now includes Israel, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. In Arabic it’s called Al-Sham. We can also use the adjective Levantine to describe this region. It really needs to be set off from Egypt, Arabia and Mesopotamia for a variety of reasons. The Levant is another cool term you can throw around so people can’t understand you and will think you are smart. Next we come to Mesopotamia. For many reasons, it is not properly a part of the Levant or Arabia, though the Bedouin regions to the South, west and especially southwest are culturally part of Arabia. But hey, so are the Sinai, the Negev, eastern Jordan and even eastern Syria. Mesopotamia, one of the world’s most ancient great cultures, is clearly in a class of its own. Further, it has substantial Persian influence. And as one of the world’s greatest and oldest cultures, every other moron ought to know what Mesopotamia means, but hardly anyone does. So this is one more cool way you can act smart and make people hate you. Another cool term is Southwest Asia. No one will know what you mean when you say this either, but at least it will make them think. Your average American moron has a dim idea of where Asia is, and most of them know what southwest means (except for the directionally impaired females), but put the two together and it’s Baffle Hour. Wikipedia says Arabia, the Levant, Mesopotamia, the Caucasus and Iran are part of Southwest Asia. Since we already have neat terms for those places, there is no need to get confusing. Truth is, Southwest Asia is a great way to describe…Iran. You can also fairly easily throw in the Caucasus too, especially the southern portions. Maybe even Kurdistan if you are feeling generous. All the rest is overlap and best explained by other terms. Going east from Iran, we run into the mysterious South Asia. This means something like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Maldives. Afghanistan is not included in most definitions, but we need to toss it somewhere, so here it goes. Other definitions include Tibet, Burma and Iran. I don’t know where to put Tibet. Burma is Southeast Asia. We already dealt with Iran. Iran is better seen as southwest Asia than South Asia.

The Birth of the Caucasian Race

An early European, possibly of the M173 line. He may somewhat resemble a Khoisan or Bushman.

An early European, possibly of the M173 line. He may somewhat resemble a Khoisan or Bushman. An early European, possibly of the M173 line. He may somewhat resemble a Khoisan or Bushman.
A reconstruction of a very early European, based on fragments found in caves in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania from 2002 on, offers a tantalizing glimpse at what early Europeans must have looked like. He actually looks a bit like Richard Steele, boxing referee and possible throwback. Previously, the oldest European skull was 30,000 years ago and was said to look like a modern European, with closest affinities to Finns. As you can see, the White nationalists are furious about this. The “White European” phenotype as we know it today did not come into existence until after 12,000 years ago, or maybe sooner. Before that, European Caucasians resemble Arabs. For instance, a 24,000 year old Cro-Magnon European shows DNA similarities to Near East (Arabs or the Caucasus). A 23,000 year old Italian Cro-Magnon sample genetically resembles modern Middle Easterners from Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Iran. Cro-Magnon was not The Original White Man. He was a Middle Easterner – an Arab-Iranian type. The original Proto-Asians came out of Africa 65,000 years ago, probably descendants of the M168 line, although NE Asians are probably partly M89. The original Caucasians did indeed come out of Africa about 40-45,000 years ago, probably descendants of the M89 line. Whites and Caucasians in general are probably a legacy of M89 and not M168. M89 birthed M45, which are the Proto-Amerindians of 35,000 years ago, on the steppes and in the Mongolia-Siberia region. A child of M45, M173, were the first Europeans, and may be represented by this fellow. Later, M343, the real Cro-Magnon, appeared. It is a bit confusing whether Cro-Magnon is M173 or M343 or both. The early genesis of the Caucasoid race involved a large injection of Asian genes from Mongolia, Siberia and East Turkestan. This occurred about 40-45,000 years and represents about 2/3 of the proto-Caucasian genetic line (Bowcock 1991). These proto-East Asians probably looked something like Aborigines or possibly Ainu. Modern NE Asians do not appear until about 9,000 years ago. Before that, all Asians looked like Aborigines, Melanesians, or Ainus. As noted above, the modern European phenotype also only appears 10,000 years ago. So both modern Whites and modern East Asians only go back 10,000 years, to the Last Glacial Maximum. All humans had dark skin until 10,000 years ago. What birthed light skin? The glaciers. For an analysis of this early process, which injected a lot of Proto-Asian genes into the Northern European Cro-Magnon line, see this early discussion on my now-banned blog:

Based on y-chromosome lineages, Atlantic and north European men (Cro-Magnon descendants) are related to N.E Asian men. They all descend from haplogroup Q which arose in the north Himalayas and south Siberia 45,000 years ago, with one group branching off west eventually ending up in the Pyrenees, the Caspian sea and northern Scandinavia. The other group would go across east Asia and even to the Americas.

Indeed, there were movements in the other direction too – from Northern Europe back to Siberia. An ancient line of Europeans called Orcadians (named after barren islands in the north of Scotland) went back to Siberia at some point and contributed significantly to the genetic line of the Yakut, a Siberian grouping that is now only The other 1/3 of the line was an early African (Bowcock 1991), maybe a Proto-Caucasian African out of South Africa (see below). Out of the Proto-African and Proto-Asian mixture was birthed the Proto-Caucasian. The African phenotype was not Bantuoid because modern Blacks do not appear in Africa until about 12,000 years ago. I have always wondered what these folks looked like, and this is an interesting part of our heritage. In the Amren article linked above, commenter JPT is not correct that Whites are on our way to being a different species. Caucasians, Blacks and East Asians are still fairly closely related. The furthest apart are Blacks and Aborigines. If anyone is evolutionarily on their way to becoming a separate species or subspecies, it is the Aborigines and the Papuans of New Guinea. The distance between them and Africans is greater than the distance between any two human groups. It might be interesting to see what happens if they mate. I am pretty sure that they can mate successfully, but it might be interesting to see if their couples are less fertile than others. As genetic distance increases, infertility does too because you are moving closer and closer to separate species. I know that Europeans and Aborigines can mate successfully, as there has been a ton of this going on since the first White invaders attacked (I mean landed on) Australia several hundred years ago. Speaking of Aborigines, yes, they are very different, but they are not Homo Erectus as many say. They are fully human. Homo Erectus lives to this day in large numbers in San Fransisco. What follows is reconstruction of the genesis of the early Caucasians. First of all, a line descended from the original M1 line out of Africa arose in Southwest Asia in the Levant (Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria). This line had come out of Africa via Somalia to Yemen and Arabia 40-45,000 years ago. It’s known that they went back to Africa, but it was always thought that they went back the same way that they came, via the Red Sea. Instead, they moved out through the Sinai and into North Africa to become the Proto-Berbers. This same line moved into Europe via the same Mediterranean route, this time along the Northern Mediterranean. These folks indeed may have been related to the fellow pictured above. The most succinct summary of the Proto-Caucasians is found here. The actual birthplace of the Proto-Caucasians was in the Caucasus, as one may expect. A figurine has been found in the Don River area of southern Russia dating from 45,000 years ago. It is thought that this is a remnant of this earliest Proto-Caucasian culture. Proto-Caucasian Man came out of the Caucasus 39-52,000 years ago. One went west to Europe, possibly resulting in the fellow above and N. Africa (this is the line out of the Levant described above) and other east to NE Asia, probably the M89 line described above, and this in part explains Caucasian affinities of Koreans, North Chinese, Mongolians, etc. There were also further returns to North Africa from Caucasus and India 30,000 years ago. It appears that the birthing grounds of the Caucasian Race were in the Caucasus, the Middle East, India and North Africa. The highly modern East Indian and North African Berbers – both diverse groups of Caucasians – may be the remains of the earliest proto-Caucasians. It is interesting to postulate on what the proto-Caucasians who moved out of Africa via the Red Sea 42,000 years ago looked like. No one knows. However, curiously, 36,000 years ago a new line arose in South Africa. It looked like a Caucasian, specifically like Cro-Magnon and other Late Pleistocene cave man types in Europe. No one knows what happened to this line, but this proto-Caucasian in South Africa 36,000 years ago could have moved up to the Rift Valley area and then to Arabia to give rise to the Caucasians. Keep in mind that by the time that Africans moved out of Africa, only 2 lines left. At 65,000 YBP (years before present) an incredible 40 different lines had already evolved separately in Africa, and they were all quite different. Only two of these 40 diverse lines left Africa. The rest stayed and birthed the tremendously diverse African race of today. It’s often said that the Khoisan-Bushmen of Southwest Africa are the most ancient living people. However, recent research shows that this is wrong. The most ancient humans are from East Africa, specifically from around Kenya and Tanzania. This includes the Masai (thought to be originally from the Sudan), the Sandawe (a Khoisan type in northern Kenya), the Datog (similar to the Masai, and probably also originally from the Sudan), and the Burunge and Gorowaa, both of whom came from Ethiopia recently. The African Eve, the first human, was probably a Northeast African or East African. Man probably originated in Ethiopia or Sudan, close to the Rift Valley that transformed the first men from apes and watered the fields of the long line of Homo that ended in ourselves. From a dead link discussing Tishkoff’s findings:

Sarah Tishkoff of the University of Maryland and a team of coworkers reported genetic analyses of more than 600 living Tanzanians from 14 different tribes and four linguistic groups. They analyzed mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) the tool of choice for tracing ancestry because it is inherited only through the mother as part of the ovum. The number of mutations that have accumulated in mtDNA is a rough measure of the time that has passed since that lineage first appeared. The owner of the first modern human mtDNA (by definition, a woman) is often referred to as “Eve,” although many women of that time are likely to have shared similar mtDNA. Genetic diversity Tishkoff and her colleagues chose to investigate East African peoples for specific reasons. The number of linguistic and cultural differences is unusually high in the region, as is the variation in physical appearance – East Africans are tall or short, darker-skinned or lighter-skinned, round-faced or narrow-faced, and so on. This observation suggested that the genetic composition of the population is highly diverse, and as expected, the team found substantial variation in the mtDNA. In fact, members of five of the lineages showed an exceptionally high number of mutations compared with other populations, indicating that these East African lineages are of great antiquity. Identified by tribal affiliation, these are: the Sandawe, who speak a “click” language related to that of the Bushmen of the Kalahari desert; the Burunge and Gorowaa, who migrated to Tanzania from Ethiopia within the last five thousand years; and the Maasai and the Datog, who probably originated in the Sudan. The efforts of the University of Maryland group reflect a substantially larger database and more certain geographic origins for its subjects than earlier mtDNA studies. Further, the work by Tishkoff’s team reveals that these five East African populations have even older origins than the !Kung San of southern Africa, who previously had the oldest known mtDNA. “These samples showed really deep, old lineages with lots of genetic diversity,” Tishkoff says. “They are the oldest lineages identified to date. And that fact makes it highly likely that ‘Eve’ was an East or Northeast African. My guess is that the region of Ethiopia or the Sudan is where modern humans originated.”

For more links between the Tutsi – Masai types and the original Europeans, see the following early discussions (here, here, here) from my previous (now shut down) blog. It’s a bit hard to get your head around, but if you think hard, you can start to understand it. I spent months trying to figure out exactly what this guy was saying, and I think I have it now. His intriguing comments strongly suggest that the earliest Cro-Magnon ancestors were derived from populations that are now the East African Masai, Tutsi, etc:

Masai and Tutsi are doliocephalic and orthaganus. Tutsi and Masai Central African types are quite low skulled, like the original Cro-Magnons were. Also MtDNA retrieved from a Cro-Magnon in Europe was found to belong to haplogroup *N, which directly and immediately descends from L3, which originated in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some of its clades went south and then east onto Australasia, while the northern clade went to the Middle East and gave birth to *N, and other clades went to West Africa and south. It’s the northern subclades of L3 that gave birth to *N (like l3a1) that are the most closely related L3 members, and Sub Saharan Africans are closest to *N bearing Cro-Magnons, as they are their most immediate and closest ancestors. It would be interesting to see if the Tutsi and Masai have any of these northern subclades of L3, as they are more closely related to Cro-Magnon *N than any other MTDNA lineage in the world. What I cant get my head around is the overlap in identical SNP clusters (Caucasoid) between populations of predominantly different patrilineal and matrilineal ancestry. e.g. e3b Ethiopians (also predominantly indigenous African on mtDNA) and r1a/I1a Norwegians. R1a and Ia descend from K, which arose in the Middle East, and e3b descends from YAP, which arose in Uganda. The nearest ancestor of R* and I* and J* Europeans/Middle Easterners with E3b Ethiopians is the M168 male, which is the ancestor of all other modern humans, so they share as little as possible recent ancestry. On mtDNA East Africans are predominantly L3, which is the direct ancestor of mtDNA N*, which is the original Middle Eastern Caucasoid mtDNA marker, which has been retrieved from 2 European Cro-Magnon specimens too. I wonder if East Africans have northern subclades of L3, as they would be the most closely related L3 subclades to N*.

Ethnic Nationalism: Good For Jews, Bad For White Gentiles

Condemning Zionism as a racist inhuman ideology similar to Nazism only makes sense if you are a non-racist or an anti-racist. It doesn’t make sense if  you are any kind of an ethnic nationalist or bigot yourself. This is why most of the Arab critiques against Zionism fall flat. Islamists and Arab nationalists of course have an excellent critique of Zionism, but they have nothing to offer instead but another variety of racism, bigotry and supremacism. Arab nationalists wish to replace the Zionist Jewish racist state with a racist Arab nationalist state, and believe me, the Arab nationalists make Zionism look like child’s play. Try to point this out to any Arab nationalist and you get a barrage of crap and defenses in reply. Try to point out that they are a bunch of anti-Semites and they throw you out of the group and accuse you of being a Zionist spy. Nowadays, Arab nationalism, even Arab Communism of all things, is all tied up in Islamism, and most Arab nationalists, even Arab Communists, are overt apologists for Islam. Except for the leftwing Arab women. They have a consistent critique of both Zionism as a racist oppressor of them as ethnic entities and of Islam as a religious oppressor of them as females. Arab nationalists deny or apologize for the most outrageous crimes of Arab nationalism. The genocide in Darfur is largely a result of an Arab nationalist ideology via Qaddafi of Libya infecting a sector of Arabized tribes in North Sudan and their elite in Khartoum. So, the Darfur genocide more than anything else is another one of the endless crimes and mass murders committed in the name of Arab nationalism. It is important not to pin this on all of the Arabs of Sudan. The largest Arabized tribal grouping in Darfur has long gotten along with the African tribes in Darfur, and they have stayed completely out of the conflict, despite risks to their safety from the Arab Nazis in Khartoum for doing so. So those Zionist quotes in the previous post that the Arab nationalists find so abhorrent find their mirror in the same ideology of the Arab nationalists. They wish to impose on the Israeli Jews an Arab version of the same Zionist racist crap that got imposed on them. Forget it! Life is not a zero-sum game played out by barbaric Middle Eastern tribes. We in the West at least have moved beyond this. No ethnic nationalist anywhere has a right to condemn Zionism, which is what makes the White Nationalist and neo-Nazi critique of Zionism so absurd. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. No ethnic nationalist can condemn the ethnic nationalism of another. But the problem is that all of these are supremacist, disenfranchising and ultimately expansionist ways of thinking, and obviously they will clash. The Slobodians who mistreat the Ruritanians in Slobodia will face the wrath of the expansionist Ruritanians preaching Greater Ruritania in Ruritania. Those same Ruritanians who mistreat their own ethnic minority Slobodians in Ruritania face the wrath of the Slobodians preaching Greater Slobodia in Slobodia. Get it? Ethnic nationalism doesn’t work for the same reason any gathering or conglomeration of narcissists doesn’t work. Clashes between supremacists of the ego or the Reich are unavoidable. Why do you think rock bands never last? So all White nationalist critiques of Zionism, and the reaction is nearly instinctive, need to be rejected out of hand. If White  Gentiles deserve a White separatist state, how can supporters of such deny a similar thing to the Jews? They can’t. In the same way, anti-Zionists cannot possibly support White nationalism, or any other ethnic nationalism for that matter. Opposition to Zionism is part and parcel of opposition to ethnic nationalism. Let us take a look at one of Kevin MacDonald’s latest writings. MacDonald is an interesting fellow who has written a lot about Jews and has been accused of being an anti-Semite. Actually, much of what he says about them is simply true. It is perhaps due to that that the reaction to him has been so violent. After all, the most infuriating insults of all have some truth behind them and therefore sting the hardest. Unfortunately, in recent days, MacDonald is turning into an actual anti-Semite, but I guess after the Dresden Firestorm of attacks against him, it was an inevitable turn of mind. He still has a lot of good things to say, but we need to read him more critically now. MacDonald notes that he does support Zionism in an abstract sense, since he is a White nationalist and realizes the obvious fact that Zionism is just White nationalism for Jews. What makes him so mad is the same thing that has pissed off nationalists about Jews for 200 years. Jews are a bunch of hypocrites. As a minority in Western lands, they typically rebel against the society, culture and religion and work to dismantle them and turn them into some sort of deracinated or deculturalized mush. Supposedly this is done because ethnoculturally neutered states are safer for the Jews, but there may be other reasons. Your average Jew is raised from an early age to feel he is superior to the Gentiles around him, and in some respects this is true. So the rebellion may be from the point of view of a culture that sees itself as superior rebelling against a culture they see as inferior. Both of these reasons are probably why so many Diaspora Jews are rebels, but the good for the Jews thing is probably the main reason. White Gentile cultures with a single dominant ethnicity, culture and religion tied together by some sort of Volkisch nationalism have always been the hardest on the Jews. Christianity has a track record of centuries of evil and crimes against Jews, and Jews don’t forgive or forget easily. In fact, their latest motto seems to be a tribal “never forgive, never forget” thing. Obviously Hollywood Jews bash Christianity. How could they not? This is the WN complaint against Jews. MacDonald offers Jews a deal. WN’s will support Israel and Zionism if the Jewish Lobby works just as hard to retain White (where White includes Jews) political and cultural dominance in America. Jews won’t go for this. Ethnic nationalism is only ok for Jews. Everywhere else, especially in White Gentile nations, it needs to be dismantled and replaced with some sort of Brazilified racial/ethnic/cultural mystery casserole that if applied to Jews themselves would make them a mere memory in a few generations. So it’s not Zionism that WN’s object to. It’s Jewish hypocrisy, and the word “hypocrisy” nearly rhymes with the word “Jew.” As long as Jews lead the charge for throwing the world’s White Gentile cultures into a racial, ethnic, cultural and religious Cuisinart, they certainly can’t expect any support from ethnocentric White Gentiles for their own separatist playground in the Levant.

Zionism – An Inhuman Racist Ideology

My comments on this philosophy will follow in the next post.

Inhuman Racist Ideology: Zionist Quotes

Spirit the penniless population across the frontier by denying it employment… Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly.” Theodore Herzl, founder of the World Zionist Organization, referring to the Arabs of Palestine, Complete Diaries, entry for June 12, 1895 . “In our country there is room only for the Jews. We shall say to the Arabs: Get out! If they don’t agree, if they resist, we shall drive them out by force.” Professor Ben-Zion Dinur, Israel ‘s First Minister of Education, 1954, from History of the Haganah, 1956. “We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population.” Israel Koenig, ‘The Koenig Memorandum,’ 1976. “[The Palestinians] are beasts walking on two legs.” Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, speech to the Knesset quoted in New Statesman, June 25,1982 . “We have to kill all the Palestinians unless they are resigned to live here as slaves.” Chairman Heilbrun of the Committee for the Re-election of General Shlomo Lahat as mayor of Tel Aviv, 1983. “We declare openly that the Arabs have no right to settle on even one centimeter of Eretz Israel ….. We shall use the ultimate force until the Palestinians come crawling to us on all fours … When we have settled the land, all the Arabs will be able to do will be to scurry around like drugged roaches in a bottle.” — Israeli Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan, Gad Becker, Yediot Ahronot, 13 Apr 83 and New York Times, 14 Apr 83 . “I did nothing for the last 20 years. For Jewish Jerusalem I have done things. For East Jerusalem ? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Actually, we did build the sewerage system and improve the water system. And do you know why? I’m sure you think we did it for their benefit. No way! We did it because we heard about cholera cases, and the Jews feared the spread of an epidemic.” Teddy Kollek, former mayor of Jerusalem . “One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail.” Rabbi Ya’acov Perin in his eulogy at the funeral of mass murderer Dr. Baruch Goldstein, cited in the New York Times, 28 Feb 94 . Rabbi Yitzhak Ginsburg, head of the Kever Yossev Yeshiva in Nablus , stated: “The blood of the Jewish people is loved by the Lord; it is therefore redder and their life is preferable.” The killing by a Jew of a non-Jew . . . is considered essentially a good deed, and Jews should therefore have no compunction about it. Yitzhak Ginsburg, Five General Religious Duties Which Lie Behind the Act of the Saintly, Late Rabbi Baruch Goldstein, May his Blood be Avenged. “Everybody has to move, run and grab as many (Palestinian) hilltops as they can to enlarge the (Jewish) settlements because everything we take now will stay ours . . . Everything we don’t grab will go to them.” Ariel Sharon , then Israeli Foreign Minister, Agence France Presse, 15 Nov 1998 . Israeli Minister Rechavam Ze’evi will push for the invasion of Palestinian-ruled towns to end the resistance. He “wants to cleanse the West Bank of Palestinians. The Arabs living in the West Bank and Gaza have to be transferred…” He also wants the army to unleash attack dogs on Palestinian demonstrators. Source: Suzanne Goldenberg, The Guardian, March 7, 2001 During a sermon, the influential Israeli Rabbi Ovadia Yosef exclaimed: “May the Holy Name visit retribution on the Arab heads, and cause their seed to be lost, and annihilate them.” He added: “It is forbidden to have pity on them. We must give them missiles with relish, annihilate them. Evil ones, damnable ones.” Source: Ha’aretz April 12, 2001 Deputy-Minister Boim and Knesset-Member Hazan declared: “All Muslims are murderers by birth. It is in their genes.” If this had been said about the Jews on any TV program in Europe or America, the station chief would have been fired. If this had been said about the Jews in any parliament in Europe or America, the member would have been forced to resign. Only in Israel does such racist talk pass almost without reaction. In the State of “the Survivors of Racism”, racism has now become routine. Gush Shalom advert in Haaretz, 27 Feb 04. What has become of a noble aspiration? “The state of Israel will . . . foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex . . . ; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.” (Paragraph 13 of Israel’s Declaration of Independence ) __________________________ “The displacement of one people by another in Israel/Palestine, involving shooting deaths, home demolitions, land confiscation, impoverishment, and retaliatory suicide bombing, is taking place day by day. And yet the rest of the world makes no effective protest. World opinion is potentially a powerful force for change and has contributed to the resolution of other recent conflicts.” Elizabeth Barlow in ‘Speaking the Truth About Zionism,’ ed Michael Prior, 2004.

Zionism 101: From the Donkey’s Mouth

After reading the following quotes, not from this unknown Jew or that obscure Zionist, but from the founders and leaders of Israel, you will have no doubt that Zionism, like its father Nazism, is a cancer against humanity. ************************ David Ben Gurion Prime Minister of Israel 1949 – 1954, 1955 – 1963 We must expel Arabs and take their places.” — David Ben Gurion, 1937, Ben Gurion and the Palestine Arabs, Oxford University Press, 1985. “There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?” — Quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp. 121-122. “Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal al- Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population.” — David Ben Gurion, quoted in The Jewish Paradox, by Nahum Goldmann, Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1978, p. 99. “Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves … politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves… The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country.” — David Ben Gurion, quoted on pp 91-2 of Chomsky’s Fateful Triangle, which appears in Simha Flapan’s Zionism and the Palestinians pp 141-2 citing a 1938 speech. “If I knew that it was possible to save all the children of Germany by transporting them to England, and only half by transferring them to the Land of Israel, I would choose the latter, for before us lies not only the numbers of these children but the historical reckoning of the people of Israel.” — David Ben-Gurion (Quoted on pp 855-56 in Shabtai Teveth’s Ben-Gurion in a slightly different translation). —————————- Golda Meir Prime Minister of Israel 1969 – 1974 “There is no such thing as a Palestinian people… It is not as if we came and threw them out and took their country. They didn’t exist.” — Golda Meir, statement to The Sunday Times, 15 June, 1969. “How can we return the occupied territories? There is nobody to return them to.” — Golda Meir, March 8, 1969. “Any one who speaks in favor of bringing the Arab refugees back must also say how he expects to take the responsibility for it, if he is interested in the state of Israel. It is better that things are stated clearly and plainly: We shall not let this happen.” — Golda Meir, 1961, in a speech to the Knesset, reported in Ner, October 1961 “This country exists as the fulfillment of a promise made by God Himself. It would be ridiculous to ask it to account for its legitimacy.” — Golda Meir, Le Monde, 15 October 1971 ————————————- Yitzhak Rabin Prime Minister of Israel 1974 – 1977, 1992 – 1995 “We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, What is to be done with the Palestinian population?’ Ben- Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said ‘Drive them out!” — Yitzhak Rabin, leaked censored version of Rabin memoirs, published in the New York Times, 23 October 1979. “[Israel will] create in the course of the next 10 or 20 years conditions which would attract natural and voluntary migration of the refugees from the Gaza Strip and the west Bank to Jordan. To achieve this we have to come to agreement with King Hussein and not with Yasser Arafat.” — Yitzhak Rabin (a “Prince of Peace” by Clinton’s standards), explaining his method of ethnically cleansing the occupied land without stirring a world outcry. (Quoted in David Shipler in the New York Times, 04/04/1983 citing Meir Cohen’s remarks to the Knesset’s foreign affairs and defense committee on March 16.) ——————————— Menachem Begin Prime Minister of Israel 1977 – 1983 “[The Palestinians] are beasts walking on two legs.” — Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, speech to the Knesset, quoted in Amnon Kapeliouk, “Begin and the ‘Beasts,”‘ New Statesman, June 25, 1982. “The Partition of Palestine is illegal. It will never be recognized…. Jerusalem was and will for ever be our capital. Eretz Israel will be restored to the people of Israel. All of it. And for Ever.” — Menachem Begin, the day after the U.N. vote to partition Palestine. —————————————— Yitzhak Shamir Prime Minister of Israel 1983 – 1984, 1986 – 1992 “The past leaders of our movement left us a clear message to keep Eretz Israel from the Sea to the River Jordan for future generations, for the mass aliya (=Jewish immigration), and for the Jewish people, all of whom will be gathered into this country.” — Former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir declares at a Tel Aviv memorial service for former Likud leaders, November 1990. Jerusalem Domestic Radio Service. “The settlement of the Land of Israel is the essence of Zionism. Without settlement, we will not fulfill Zionism. It’s that simple.” — Yitzhak Shamir, Maariv, 02/21/1997. “(The Palestinians) would be crushed like grasshoppers … heads smashed against the boulders and walls.” — Isreali Prime Minister (at the time) Yitzhak Shamir in a speech to Jewish settlers New York Times April 1, 1988, the Israeli journal Hotam, November 24, 1989. ——————————– Benjamin Netanyahu Prime Minister of Israel 1996 – 1999 “Israel should have exploited the repression of the demonstrations in China, when world attention focused on that country, to carry out mass expulsions among the Arabs of the territories.” — Benyamin Netanyahu, then Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, former Prime Minister of Israel, speaking to students at Bar Ilan University, from ———————————————————— Ehud Barak Prime Minister of Israel 1999 – 2001 “The Palestinians are like crocodiles, the more you give them meat, they want more”…. — Ehud Barak, Prime Minister of Israel at the time – August 28, 2000. Muslims Show Kindness To Iraqi Homosexuals

This is pretty much par for the course in parts of Arabia. In Palestine, male homosexuals are routinely murdered by the both the secular PLO and the Islamist Hamas. They actually flee to Israel to save their lives. In Lebanon, they get off easy. All Hezbollah does is beat them up (gay bash them). In Egypt, they go to prison when they catch them on a gay boat out on the Nile, but if you keep it under wraps, Egypt is actually a lot better, and all across North Africa, there is tons of homosexuality going on. Young males will play the male role in sex with guys, and as long as they play the guy, they don’t consider themselves gay. There’s a tremendous amount of this sort of thing going on in Morocco. In Arabia, it’s pretty much wide open so to speak. There is an incredible amount of at least male homosexuality going on in Saudi Arabia, but they are supposed to be discreet about it. Gay lovers can walk down the street arm in arm, but if a male and female do it, the religious police are right there on top of them. It’s almost like the worst paranoid fears of gay-hating Western religious right being played out. Homosexuality is legal, but heterosexuals are beaten and hauled off to prison. There is also lots of homosexuality in Kuwait. This is all male homosexuality, by the way. However, in the Kingdom, a lot of the Princesses (there are 1000’s of them) miserable under the weight of horrible misogyny, drink, take pills, suffer psychosomatic illnesses and depression and in particular take to lesbian affairs with each other. We don’t like first four too much, but as far as the last one goes, they need to make internet videos of them and email them to me right now. It is in Iraq where Muslim kindness towards homosexuals reaches its pinnacle. Iran is close. There they just hang young male gays who they catch while an audience watches and I guess eats popcorn and cheers or something. The Shiite militias in East Baghdad have recently shown the way by leading the world in Islamic tolerance and kindness towards gays. Male gays are kidnapped, stripped naked, tied up, and have a special glue applied to their anuses that can only be removed by surgery. I think it’s called Super Asshole Sealer or something. They make it in Iran, probably especially for this purpose. I’ve heard of covering your ass, but this is just ridiculous. Then they force feed the guys laxatives, which causes diarrhea. Since their butts are glued shut, the diarrhea has no escape route and it eventually somehow kills the poor guy. Cause of death: I have no idea. I guess a blown-up asshole or something. Shivers. Good God, what a Hell of a way to go. Best of all, the kind and loving Muslims then distribute videos of the gruesome murders on cell phones to other Muslim sickos, who gleefully watch them for entertainment. The Socialist Worker Party Trots are right, Islam is a de facto progressive religion. All us Western Lefties need to get behind it right now. Better yet, convert.

“Why Boycott Israel” by Abiezer Coppe

Abiezer Coppe is the pen name of a British Leftist who is a good friend of mine. His biography is here. The subject of this article has been done many times, but most folks still don’t understand it very well. There is a big debate on the Left about whether or not to boycott Israel. Some say yes, others say no. Here Abiezer lays out the case for boycotting Israel.

Why Boycott Israel

by Abiezer Coppe

In the past the world knew how to fight criminal policies. The boycott on South Africa was effective, but Israel is handled with kid gloves: its trade relations are flourishing, academic and cultural cooperation continue and intensify with diplomatic support. This international backing must stop. That is the only way to stop the insatiable Israeli violence. We are calling on the world to stop Israeli violence and not allow the continuation of the brutal occupation. We call on the world to condemn and not become an accomplice in Israel’s crimes.

The above is part of a document signed by leading Israeli artists, writers and intellectuals and ordinary citizens during the war on Gaza and published on January 7th 2009. It is not the first (see Matzpun.) Matzpun is the Hebrew word for conscience. This IS a matter of conscience. If you knowingly buy Israeli goods you are complicit with the war crimes of the Israeli state. If you unknowingly buy Israeli goods now is the time to inform yourself, now is the time to stop. Not buying Israeli goods is ethical shopping. Palestinian organizations have been calling for the boycott of Israeli goods for years. We should finally listen. The war on Gaza was not fought against an army, but against the civilian population with the most modern, deadly and in some cases illegal weapons. 1434 civilians died and over 5,000 were injured. Over 300 children died. Gaza does not have an army. Gaza does not have an air force. Gaza is an overcrowded strip of land bordering Egypt, contains nearly one and a half million Palestinians, many of whom are the descendants of those who fled southwards in 1948, driven out by the Jewish militias, an illegal act of ethnic cleansing, accompanied by massacres of unarmed civilians in Tantura, Deir Yassin and other villages, over 400 of which were then razed to the ground. Israel has not changed its nature in the intervening years since its foundation in 1948. Schools, hospitals and police stations in Gaza were repeatedly targeted by the Israeli Air Force in January. Israeli soldiers confronted and killed unarmed civilians in their houses. Shells containing white phosphorous, an illegal weapon which burns human flesh down to the bone, were dropped on a UN school. A UN compound containing provisions and supplies for Palestinians, which repeatedly contacted the Israeli army beforehand, was shelled and set on fire. These are war crimes. Illegal Dense Inert Metal Explosives (DIME for short) weapons were used in Gaza. These weapons shred the body and sheer off limbs leaving a stump that does not bleed. They are illegal. What is more, the killing goes on since the ceasefire. Gaza is now a killing field. Gazan civilians cannot leave their cage. Gaza has been blockaded for three years. The blockade is illegal in International Law. The Palestinians of Gaza are malnourished for want of food. They continue to die for want of access to hospital treatment. Over 9 Gaza is not allowed to trade. Gazan fisherman are not allowed to fish. The remains of the Gazan economy have been destroyed by the Israeli bombing. Antiquated sewerage systems have been smashed by the bombing. The water is not safe to drink. What is the word that describes Israel’s treatment of Gaza? If you are in any doubt check out this article by a Jewish Israeli historian, Ilan Pappé. If you knowingly buy Israeli goods you are supporting this. Who can defend this? What am I talking about here? Ask yourself. Can we stand by and let this happen? Does history have to repeat itself? Things are not much better in the Palestinian West Bank, illegally occupied for 41 years by the Israeli army. Unemployment is 7 Over 4 No Palestinian is allowed to bear arms, unless he is working for the Israel state. There is no legal recourse for Palestinians, either for the killings or for the land confiscations. A wall snakes across Palestinian land, isolating Palestinian towns like Qalqiliya, now entirely surrounded by a 25 foot wall, cutting off Palestinian villagers from their own olive groves and farmland. 600 checkpoints on the West Bank staffed by bored, frustrated youths of the Israeli Defence Forces, monitor and control all Palestinian movements. People are delayed for hours at checkpoints on the whim of the Israeli army, and women have given birth at a checkpoint and lost their babies. Over 11,000 Palestinians are in Israeli jails, many for years without charge. Many of them are under 18. 18,000 Palestinian homes have been illegally demolished on the West Bank since 1967. 30,000 new housing units are planned this year on confiscated Palestinian land around East Jerusalem. Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank is far worse than Apartheid ever was. South African blacks were part of the Apartheid economy, not a surplus population with levels of unemployment running at 7 There was no question of ethnically cleansing the South African blacks from their homeland. Palestinians are not welcome or safe in Gaza and the West Bank, and increasingly they are not welcome as citizens of Israel. Arbitrary mass arrests greeted the largest ever peaceful Israeli demonstration of 150,000 people in the Galilean village of Sakhnin. Peaceful Palestinian protests in Hebron on the West Bank were greeted with mass arrests and live ammunition. Who can defend this? Who would tolerate it here? What is this democracy that the EU states embrace with open arms? We saw the deafening silence of the international power elite, on both sides of the Atlantic, during the illegal war on Gaza. The international boycott of South Africa, coupled with the resistance of the ANC, was pivotal in bringing De Klerk to the negotiating table and ending the formal existence of Apartheid in South Africa. Israel is an even more oppressive case of colonial rule of a subject population, in which the UK has been complicit from the beginning. I believe that a mass international boycott campaign can bring pressure to bear on the Israeli state to seek a resolution of the conflict with the native Palestinians that is based on the minimum requirements of justice and the International Consensus as represented by the United Nations annual vote on the resolution of the conflict, and the rulings of the International Court of Justice in the Hague, not the US Road Map to Nowhere. This is the absolute minimum, and can only become an agenda for resolution of the conflict if made a demand of an international mass boycott movement. Who cannot support this? Do not be complicit! Supporting the boycott in whatever form you can sends out a clear message both to the Israeli regime and our own rulers: This is unacceptable. This must stop. Here are some resources for further investigation. The illegal war in Gaza and Gaza war crimes, by Richard Falk, an American Jew. A campaign started by Muslims The Big Campaign. Jason Kunin, a Toronto Jew, on Why Boycott Israel? Anti-Gaza War by Israelis. Understanding the Crisis in Gaza. The Jerusalem Post. Boycott campaigns do make a difference. Ronnie Kasrils, a South African Jew, on why Israeli treatment of the Palestinians is far worse than Apartheid.

More On Lebanese Christians

In response to the Lebanon: No Talks With Israel post, Olive observes:

The Lebanese Forces blogs are still pretty pro- Israel. There are ten thousand Lebanese Maronites living in Israel, mostly from the LF.

I’m sure the LF blogs are still pretty pro-Israel. No surprise there. I’m sure UNIFL is still pro-Israel too. The Lebanese Forces are the Maronite Phalangists who supported Israel and formed the SLA (South Lebanon Army) supported by Israel. They were so hated inside Lebanon that most of them decided to take off for Israel when Israel gave them the chance. The rest mostly left for the US where they make up the “Free Lebanon” movement. This UNIFL crowd gives an illusory view about what the Christians left in Lebanon think. The truth is there is much difference between the Christians left in Lebanon and the Lebanese Christians outside of Lebanon. The one outside Lebanon are as I have described. The ones inside Lebanon are much different now. Sure, they hate Hizballah and the Palestinians. But most of them don’t like Israel much anymore either, especially after that latest Israeli invasion. During that invasion, the Lebanese Christians were threatening to take up arms. They said they were going to fight both Hezbollah and the Israeli invaders. Most recently, many Maronites have gone over to Maronite former General Aoun who is now in alliance with Hezbollah. Lebanese politics is Arab politics squared. It’s all about alliances and little about ideology. It is true that in S. Lebanon there are still Christian villages full of former SLA members. Villages full of Hezbollah supporters may be just over the next hill. The former SLA members are quiet now and have essentially reinvented themselves as Lebanese patriots. Why do they get along and not kill each other? Forgive and forget. It’s the Lebanese way. If not for this, they would have all exterminated each other in orgiastic mass slaughters long ago.

National Socialism Comes To Israel

Benjamin Netanyahu chooses Avigdor Lieberman as his Foreign Minister. We Leftists have always considered Zionism to be more or less be anyway, and now I figure the mask has finally fallen off. This is more predictable than anything else. Why doesn’t the fascist Right around the world cheer for this? Because fascism and Nazism are only bad when Jews do it. Nothing good can possibly come of this, but the Middle East has been pretty hopeless for a while now. It will be entertaining to watch the traitors in AIPAC cheer on this little Jewish Hitler. The fetes at the White House for this guy ought to be a kick too. Who says realpolitik can’t be entertainment?

What the Future Hispano-Catholic USA Will Look Like

Like this. For everyone on the Left assisting with this idiot lunatic invasion of our land, have you ever stopped to think for just one millisecond about what an Hispano-Catholic USA will look like? Abortion is not really legal in any Latin American land outside of Cuba, and it’s hardly very legal in any Catholic country on Earth. Italy, supposedly the exception, has a very complex abortion law. In all Catholic nations, including the so-called Italian outlier, the Church meddles incessantly in the affairs of the state and society. Even in Italy, the political parties endlessly pander to the Church. My leftwing Italian friends despise the Church, though confessing  they are still Catholics. Turning your nation into a Catholic majority state is like tossing a hundred billion kudzu seeds into the fields surrounding your town and assuming nothing’s going to happen. Catholicism is a Kudzu Religion. Once it gets in, you have a Hellacious jungle-ivy like plant invasion that wraps its tentacles around everything in sight. It blocks the view and trips you when you try to walk. Not only that, but its ineradicable. How is it that the Left assumes we can go Hispano-Catholic in demographics without turning into just another Latin American country? We can’t. Hispano-Catholic people create Hispano-Catholic countries. What do those countries look like? Cast your eyes yonder down south of the border, down Mexico way…and beyond. I love Hispanics, but what I like even better is the idea of separate countries. One of the things that made this country great was that it was not founded by Iberian Catholics. One of the things that has made Latin America so fucked up in such a predictable, replicable and pattern-like fashion is because they were colonized and founded by Iberian Catholics. It’s why we have the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the 1st and 4th Amendments, and why most of Latin America never developed anything comparable to this very day. Spain was still fighting semi-feudalism in the 1930’s. It was so bad it needed an armed Left to try to take it out, and the Hispano-Catholic semi-feudalist fascists won anyway. As Spain is one of the Central Headquarters for the Catholic Kudzu Infection, Spaniards probably hate the Church more than anywhere else, while they remain of course conflicted. One of the most curious things about the recent history of Spain has been the peculiar yet regular outbreak of church-burnings. Whenever things get really weird in Spain, the Spaniards go insane and start attacking and burning down churches. No one knows why they do this, and my understanding is that both the Left and the Right engage in this mass nuttiness. Spaniards have this relationship with the Church like a serial killer has with his Mom. And yet they can’t let go. You can’t understand Hispanic culture via Iberia until you understand the Pakistan-Peruvian Axis. This is an axis of lands that were colonized by the Arabs and consequently by Islam. Over hundreds of years, the essentials of Arab culture, similar today as when they ruled Andalusia, were transmitted. So Southern Italy, Turkey, the Balkans, Spain, Portugal, Greece, all the way to Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan all became more or less Arabized. Those crazy Pashtuns we are fighting in West Pakistan and Afghanistan are a very Arabized people. And there is no way to truly understand Latin America until you realize that the Latin Americans also have been Arabized, via the Arabized Iberians who conquered and colonized them. Manically obsessive honor, extreme masculinity, profound sexism where women are chattel property, casual and unthinking cruelty, vast extremes of wealth and power that one may not challenge, and willful, even arrogant ignorance are just some of the Arab baggage these nations carry. An Arab male grows up in a home where his father is the undisputed King of all things. Everyone in the home knows this, no one talks about it, and there is nothing to be done anyway. As the male is the King of the house, so the boys are Little Kings in their own way. They are allowed to lord it over their sisters, cousins, female relatives and probably even their own mother. The Arab boy grows up a little dictator. He grows up into a cruel world with no justice, one that is rent with mini-fiefdoms that reproduce fractal-like, a land in which discrimination permeates everything. There is no unity, and “society” is nothing more than a warren of squabbling tribes. To the extent that they come together for any reason, it’s always a marriage of convenience. There is no ideology, there is not much politics, and there’s not much of a market. In place, there is religion and tribalism, rewritten as family-based clans. Even political parties are religious and clan-based. Ideology changes more often than styles in a 5th Avenue window, for the simple reason that it hardly exists. Different tribal, religious and clan-based parties try on new ideologies and toss them aside, always jockeying with the others for the only thing that matters, which is power. Hence, alliances are obsessively necessary, and these alliances, in their ever-shifting form, often absurd and unworkable from the start, still manage to putter along. With power comes loot. Loot buys you everything in the Arab World, and even enables you to escape the Ultra-Kudzu called Religion. In Arabia, no one has any morals or values when it comes to money and what passes for politics, everyone bribes everyone and is as corrupt as a human can be, and disputes are often settled with the finality of lead. None of this is seen by the Arab as the slightest bit remarkable. The Arab evolved in the desert, and so did his religion. His religion is as harsh and brutal as its desert birthplace. In the desert, survival is everything. There is no time for politics, for the market, for ideology. You can’t eat or drink that stuff, so it’s worthless. There are always too many humans for the harsh land to support, so it’s a Darwinian place. People are either friends or enemies, and there is no in between. Friends and enemies can be as effervescent as mirages, and can transform into the opposite in an eye-blink. The Arab is crafty and devious and has a 1000 plots, scams and conspiracies up his sleeve at any time. This is so he can survive in the desert. You can’t make it alone out there. Other cruel folks are always trying to take your land, livestock or life, and this fact is as simple and quotidian as the burning sun in the sky. Hence, alliances are essential. The desert is unforgiving, and mistakes can be deadly. Hence, survival itself is an endless challenge of scheming and conniving, and the Arab is an extremely clever fellow. I always felt that the stereotype of the tricky and sneaky Jew was due to their co-evolving with these Arab people. When the young Arab man goes out to get a job, he finds more cruelty and harshness. Fairness is not an Arab concept; there is none here. If he wants a job, something is expected from him in return. If you take or receive money from someone for anything, including employment, it always comes with strings attached. Everyone has an ulterior motive for everything, everything is underhanded and often unstated and nothing is up front. Fanaticism permeates Arab society as the sun tints our day. Fanaticism is as normal and unquestioned to the Arab as the sun that warms our bones and lights our way. The violence that typically follows mass fanaticism periodically rends Arab society. Thus, the Arab lives in terror of fitna, which means strife. The glue that holds Arab society together is cheap and doesn’t really work, so harsh social rules have to be laid down. The Arab is also obsessed with sex, and the idea of fitna is imbued with sex. One sense of fitna is that this is what will happen if men and women start fucking casually as they normally ought to be doing. The whole house of cards culture will come toppling down, and the deadly anarchy that periodically sweeps Arab lands will follow. Hence male-female relations are policed rigidly, and you have mass sexual frustration on the part of the men and probably of the women too. The Saudis, Gulf Arabs and Afghans are so terrified of fitna that they allow mass opportunistic male homosexuality in preference of breaking down the apartheid between men and women and the chaos that may follow. This has been a brief sketch of Arab society. Keep in mind that as Latin America has been Hispanicized, to some extent it has also been Arabized. With Hispanicization comes not only the baggage of 500 years of Hispanic culture, but that of the Ancient Church of Rome along with the time-stopped world of the backwards Arabs.

A Little Black In All of Us

Repost from the old site. Well, not quite, but sort of. At least in many Mediterranean types and other Europeans, White Americans, North Africans and Arabs. Let’s take a look. The link is dead now, but from this dead link:

Jordanian Bedouins. These people are 4.
This group, the Bedouins, appears to be a very ancient Caucasian group, though I can’t seem to prove it – it’s just a hunch of mine. They are on the borders genetically between Blacks and Caucasians, along with Yemenis, Arabians, Berbers, Algerians, the Beja, and Nubians.
Ethiopians are in there too somewhere, but they are clearly into the Black category, although they are best thought of as an intermediate group between Blacks and Caucasians. Bedouins are one of the most divergent genetic groups in the Caucasian race. Bedouins are the original Jordanians, and they still run the state. 7

In the Arab World, or at least in the Gulf, most of the Black genes seem to have come in on the mother’s side. This implies that Arab men were having sex with Black slave girls, given the normative Black-Arab relationship of slave-master in the Gulf for far too long. There is much less Black paternal DNA, which means that Black slaves were not having sex with that many Arab women.

All of the links to the relevant journal articles are dead too, but if anyone wants to track them down, here they are: link, link and link.

A Yemeni man. We have Yemenis near where I live; they run the local stores. They are clearly a mostly-Caucasian people, but they do have about 1 This is a very ancient region, and Yemen is probably where the first people came out of Africa. It is surely where the first proto-Caucasians left Africa also. There are still some Negritos here in the Mahra region who are probably the remnants of the original humans that left Africa 70,000 years ago. They are called Black Yemenis, and are treated horribly by the Arabs. There is a high value put on whiteness in Yemen. A young man who works at the local market tells me that he hates summer because he turns so dark from the sun. In Yemen, dark is bad, White is good. I try to tell him that he lives in Mexifornia now and Brown is the new White, but I’m not sure if he believes me. These guys forbid their women from working and their Mom chooses a future wife for them. Mixing between the sexes outside of marriage is strictly forbidden. Some of the young women have abandoned the hijab, but they’re hardly liberated. There’s no trouble at all from these Yemenis or from the sizable Palestinian population nearby. In fact, they are a Hell of a lot better behaved than the local Hispanics, and the IQ’s of Iraq and Palestine are quite a bit below US Hispanics. Surely there is more to acting civilized and having good morals and manners than IQ. I really like these Yemeni guys; they are a lot of fun. Good people all around.

Since the links are dead, I’m open to anyone who wants to research this issue further.

Spaniards and Portuguese are about Arabs are in serious denial about their Black heritage, and this is a real sore issue with them, so don’t try to bring it up. Some Arabs take great pride in being White and many others could care less. In Yemen, lighter skin is much prized and darker skin is not good. I looked an older Yemeni man I know straight in the eye recently and said, “You guys are White, just like me,” and watch his smile light up the heavens (We were discussing the Negritos that supposedly live in the Mahra region of Yemen).

*These figures include mtDNA only and no Y-DNA, so I set Y-DNA at 0. No doubt the Y-DNA is miniscule to nonexistent. The Greek figure is very controversial. However, going by autosomal markers that typically show I am confident that Greeks do have quite a bit of Berber, Arab and Phoenician blood in them though, and I am very suspicious of Pontikos Dienekes’ (Greek nationalist) work. The other argument, that Greeks have significant Black blood, is here.

These are some classic Greek types – a classic Greek phenotype. Autosomal studies show that Greeks have ~ A Greek nationalist named Dienekes Pontikos, along with a Southern Italian nationalist who runs the Racial Reality site, both of whom I formerly respected, are apparently behind some Net anthro fraud in which they are trying to pass off Greeks and Southern Italians off as some sort of “pure Whites”, I guess as a sop to White nationalists, or so they can be White too. They have laid into the Kemp paper and an Internet jihad against it has unfolded. Unfortunately, there is far more evidence for Black genes in Greeks than a single paper by a guy named Kemp. Indeed, the evidence is quite overwhelming. Both Racial Reality and Dienekes are generally fine sites, but when it comes to their own ethnic group, the insanity rule of ethnic nationalism applies: ethnic nationalism drives the sanest people completely nuts. The whole enterprise is absurd. Greeks and Italians are clearly Caucasians and, if you will, Whites. Yes, they have a bit of Black blood in them, but not much. Is this really the end of the world, guys? An Azeri man from Azerbaijan. The US is trying to foment an Azeri separatist movement in Iran, but it’s not going to go anywhere. The Iranian regime is disgusting and bans all languages other than Persian from school, but other than that, most Azeris don’t want to leave. For one thing, they run the country. Ahmadinejad, Khomeini, Khatami, Khameini, and most of the top leadership have long been Azeris. It was actually Iranian Azeris who created the Safavid Shia state that modern Iran is based on back around 1600 and they have been running the show ever since. Why secede? What for? These people do not have any Black in them that I am aware of. Maybe future studies will find some.

As you can see, Black admixture in Europeans is concentrated in the Iberian peninsula, and even there, the levels are quite low. At levels like this, we often see no observable Black phenotype at all. I think it is funny that those big, tough German White nationalists have more Black in them than those greasy Calabrians (Southern Italians just to the north of the Sicilian boot) that they despise so much. That’s rich! The truth is that Italians and especially Greeks have quite a bit of Berber, Arab and Phoenician in them, and this for the most part accounts for their darker features. There’s not a whole lot of evidence that either group has much Black genes in them. Note that the European Black

The father of Ardent, a blogger who runs the interesting Ardent Observations blog and is also an acquaintance of mine. She is of Turkish-Cypriot ancestry and lives in Australia. This is a photo of her father, who left Cyprus as a single young man and hopped a ship to Australia barely knowing a word of English. Some local Turks grabbed him when he landed, got him a job and a place to stay and eventually he raised a family there. I think it is interesting that he looks as White as any White American around. Actually, he looks like my own father did when he was young. My father is German-French. Ardent notes in the comments section at the end of this post that people used to tell her father that he looked Slavic, but he did not appreciate that, as he was a Muslim, and the Ottomans and Slavs were enemies for centuries. It’s interesting that Turks seem to have one of the lowest Black gene But it looks like the whole Anatolian/Caucasus region has received very few Black genes. Black genes made it to Syria and Iraq in the south and to Greece in the West, but seem to have halted there. Germans have 7 Turks are a very interesting people genetically. They are Caucasians, at least according to me anyway, and they can easily be classed as the same European White subrace as Europeans. Turks don’t seem to give a damn if people think they are White or not though, probably due to long-standing hostility between the Muslim Ottomans and Christian Europe. In other words, to be a White Turk is to be the same person as a Christian European, and not only do Turks like to think of themselves as different, but Christian Europe was an enemy for centuries. Some White nationalists say that 30-5 There is extensive commentary from Ardent and a light-skinned US Black woman who has spent a lot of time in Turkey about Blacks and Turkey. The Black woman says that Turkey is one of the most Black-friendly countries she has ever lived in. Turks don’t seem to have much racism towards Blacks, for whatever reason. She also met an Iranian man who told her that Iran was a quite Black-friendly country too. Apparently many Turks had Black servants in recent times and in Ottoman times there were many Black slaves in addition to the famous White Circassian Beauties. The female Black slaves were often encouraged to abort when they were made pregnant by a Turk, and the male slaves were often castrated. She also said some Iraqis were very friendly to her, so prejudice against Blacks is surely not universal in Iraq, and there are Iraqis with obvious Black ancestry in the Shia South. White nationalists like to say that most ethic groups despise Blacks as if it is some sort of a universalism. That’s apparently not true in the case of Arabs, Iranians and Turks anyway.

Here is the data that I used to arrive at these conclusions. You’re free to go through it if you wish and see if you come up with something similar: mtDNA data: Wikipedia mtDNAPortugal (Madeira Islands) – 1 Most North Africans are 1 A study by Gonzalez et al. 2003 found L haplogroups at rates of 0. Note that these figures do not count the L3 lineage, which may be of ancient introduction and so remains ambiguous. For comparison, sub-Saharan mtDNA runs 21. According to another study by Pereira et al. 2005 sub-Saharan mtDNA L haplogroups were found at rates of 0.6 The frequency is clearly higher in Portugal (32 sequences in 549 individuals; 5.8 Y-DNA data: Y-DNA Sub-Saharan African Y-chromosomes are much less common in Europe, for the reasons discussed above. However, Haplogroups E(xE3b) and Haplogroup A spread to Europe due to migrations from Northeast Africa, rather than the slave trade. In some of the data below, E-M35 is included. The haplotypes have been detected in Northern Portugal, By contrast, North Africans have about James Schipper comments in the comments section:

If only 1 out of 33 black women per generation was impregnated by a white male, then only about 1 out 33 x 7 = 231 white males per generation impregnated a black woman. So much for the argument that lots of white men were having sex with black females. You know that it is the dose that makes the poison. To paraphrase that, it is the admixture that determines the classification. Let’s take 5 mixtures of beer and wine. A is 9 Likewise, calling the Portuguese Whites despite their black admixture of about Let’s use an analogy. We don’t call German a Latin language even though maybe

He is surely correct. One of the main reasons that any kind of White nationalist movement is doomed to fail in the US is due to the WN’s insane failure to include Iberians, Italians, Serbs, etc. The number of WN’s who insist that Spaniards, Portuguese, Italians, Greeks and Serbs are not White is very large, and it usually seems like a large majority on most forums. WN deserves to fail anyway because it’s nothing but racist bullshit, but this will just insure its grave for sure. Now, the sort of race realism that Fred on Everything is pushing is usually completely sane and is likely to go over well. Further, it’s possible that his POV is largely devoid of anything that can meaningfully be called racism. He used to ride along with big city cops a lot, so he knows the inner city very well. He’s got some very interesting arguments about what do about the public schools. He lives in Mexico and apparently loves Mexicans just fine. He thinks it’s really stupid to let them swarm in here by the millions. Fred notes that in Mexico, the illegals are considered the least desirable elements of that society. I am not sure what Fred means by that, but you can use your imagination. The whole idea of immigration is to pick the cream of the crop. There’s a possibility that we are doing the opposite with regard to Mesoamerican mass illegal immigration. WN’s have turned their back on Fred, apparently because he married a Mexican woman! That makes him a race traitor in their lunatic eyes. So you can see right now that with built-in faults like that, this is a doomed movement. The Five Hearths of Urbanization

I never really knew much about this, but a friend of mine was taking a course in Human Geography (WTH?) and this was one of the things that they dealt with in the class. What this really means is that these five areas were the first parts of the world to experience urbanization. Urbanization is very important. You cannot even make cities until you develop surplus agriculture. Moving agriculture from subsistence to surplus usually involves a move to some sort of large farms, orchards or plantations. These large agricultural outposts can then produce enough to not only feed the rural population, but to provide food for the urban population. The urban population must be fed by the rural because as a good rule, people in cities just do not grow food, or, if they do, they do not grow enough to sustain the city. As long as the urban folks don’t need to worry about starving and don’t have to grow food, they can do other stuff besides growing food. This is the beginnings of civilization. The five Hearths are the Nile River Valley in Egypt, Mesopotamia in Iraq, the Indus River Valley in Pakistan, the Mayan in Central America and the Yellow River Valley in China. No one has any idea of what the IQ’s of the dwellers of these regions were at the time, but right now they are Guatemala 79, Egypt 82, Pakistan 82.5, Iraq 87 and China 105 (I don’t accept Richard Lynn’s phony 100 figure for China). All but China are in what is the lower half of the human IQ range. Since White nationalists are adamant that IQ has remained unchanged in all of these places, and everywhere else for that matter, in the past few thousand years, it behooves to ask how is it that these dummies showed up Homo Superiorus in Europe anyway? Of the five, Egypt was far and away the most advanced. The latest thinking is that the pyramids were not built by slaves, but instead were built by relatively well-paid, middle-class workers. Whole cities that housed these workers have been uncovered near the pyramids. Egyptian cities are the oldest of all. I am not sure of dates, but it looks like Egyptian cities go back 6,000 years or more (YBP = years before present). It’s odd that the earliest cities were the best of them all. The majestic pyramids were unsurpassed in the other Hearths. Although Mesopotamia had stone obelisks as tall as a man, Egypt had incredible obelisks of solid stone up to an unbelievable 100 feet tall. People to this day still wonder how the Egyptians did it, and no one quite knows. King Tut appointed what seems to be the first, or one of the first, queens of a large society, so this was a feminist breakthrough too, not that you would know it if you went to Islamic and misogynistic Egypt today. The next one along was Mesopotamia at 5,500 years ago. This is very, very early. They had art, aqueducts and organized religion, but no pyramids or major architectural accomplishments. There was a Great Wall of Babylon, a beautiful structure fashioned of blue bricks. They had obelisks and statues such as the Style of Hammurabi, but that was only as tall as a man. Compare to the 100 foot obelisks of the Egyptians – no contest. The Mesopotamians were already smelting metal – this was the Bronze Age. Smelting metal is a serious advance in civilization, and it’s amazing that anyone was smelting anything 4,900 years ago, when Mesopotamian smelting began. It appears that Mesopotamia was influenced by the earlier civilization of the Egyptians. The next is the great civilization of the Indus. This was in Pakistan, not in India as idiot Indian nationalists claim. Not quite as impressive as the first two, it did have very large cities with aqueducts for irrigation. However, they had no pyramids or other great architecture, no art and no writing. They had big cities and little else. The Indus Civilization vanished without a trace for unknown reasons. The Indus was very old, 4,200 YBP. The fourth Hearth was the Maya Civilization in Central America. This actually goes back a long ways, all the way to 3,100 YBP at least and possibly earlier. It was characterized by a writing system, mathematics, pyramids, art and advanced astronomy. The Mayan pyramids were excellent structures. I am not sure how they compare to the Egyptian pyramids, but it is fascinating that early peoples in two completely different parts of the world both decided to build pyramids (Why?). The Mayans also smelted metal and had a very early irrigation system. What is odd is that neither the Mayans nor the Aztecs who came much later never managed to invent the wheel or to put it to good use. The wheel is absolutely essential for advanced civilization, and discovering it is considered a profound breakthrough for any culture. What is even more strange is that the early Central Americans did invent the wheel, but they did not put it to good use. We have found children’s toys with wheels on them from these cultures. On the other hand, there were no pack animals to be domesticated in Central America, so it’s dubious what use you could put the wheel to, although I guess you could make a rickshaw, a bicycle or a wheelbarrow. The early Central Americans are derided, especially by White Nationalists, for being horribly, even evilly cruel, especially in their mad, seemingly insane addiction to human sacrifice. It’s true that the Central Americans did take human sacrifice to frightfully vicious extremes, at times making it nearly an assembly line operation. However, many early cultures engaged in human sacrifice, including Homo Superiorus over in Europe. Why, we ask? Well, these were pre-scientific folks. They did have their Gods, but as cruel and meaningless as fate often is, the Gods must have been crazy, to paraphrase a movie title. For instance, these nutty and semi-wicked Gods would kill the hottest babe in the village along with the handsomest, smartest guy to boot, for no darn reason at all, while leaving alive the village dirtbag, who barely even deserved to be kept alive one more minute. None of it made sense. Human life is a caprice, so cruel a caprice that it can almost seem like folly or the blackest of jokes. These Gods were clearly nuts, but they ruled our lives nevertheless. What to do? Appease the crazy bastards. This was the meaning of human sacrifice and the more humane later animal sacrifice, taken to insane lengths of folly by the Jews of the Temple Period, where an assembly line of animals stretched for up to a mile or so, and animals were killed all day in a 9-5 operation, such that blood flowed from the Temple like a river. This is the mad period that the most fanatical Zionists wish to recreate. Anyway, the way to appease a powerful, crazy person is to humor him, be nice to him or even bring him gifts. This was the idea behind the human sacrifices, to try to semi-rationalize the ferocious whimsy of the Gods. The fifth Hearth is the Yellow River Valley of China. Actually, yo can’t say that anymore, as the PC-idiots take offense. Guess why? Yellow River sounds like yellow skin. Chinese are said to have yellow skins, but that’s racist and you can’t say that. So forget the Yellow River. Instead, it’s the Huang He River, which I think means yellow in Chinese, but since mostly only Chinese know Chinese, there’s nothing to get offended about, since Chinese equating Chinese = yellow is not offensive, but if Caucasians do it, it’s mean and evil and racist. Whatever. Anyway, the Yellow River civilization was about 2,200 YBP. I don’t know much about it except that they did have large cities and irrigation. They also had writing. One might reasonably ask what these five Hearths had in common. We can say that they were near the Equator, but not too near. That seems crucial. They were all in the Northern Hemisphere, but I doubt if that is meaningful, except that there  seem to be more humans and more land mass in the north. And, with the exception of the Mayas, they were all in lush river valleys. The Mayas are odd man out in the jungle. The question of YBP comes up. I don’t mind the term. Originally we had B.C. (Before Christ), and as a Christian, that’s just fine for me. Well, some folks got rid of that a while back and replaced it with BCE, (Before Christian Era), which always struck me as a cheap anti-Christian shot. I figure Jews probably had a hand in this, since Jesus isn’t exactly their favorite guy, nor is Christianity exactly their favorite religion. The atheists and scientist types must have had a hand in it too. It surely so infuriated these poor atheist souls to have to say and write that horrible word “Christ” over and over. Non-Christians all over the world probably nodded in approval or chimed in. YBP seems a good compromise. Neither Christocentric nor a slap in the face of Christianity, it just avoids the whole issue of Jesus and religion altogether and goes by a nice secular calendar. Typical Muslim Behavior

The Taiba, West Bank, pogrom in September 2005. The Muslims always do this to us Christians, especially when we are small minorities. It’s probably not that bad to be a Christian in Morocco, Tunisia or Libya. I had a Black African friend from Togo, a Catholic, who was living in Morocco for a while, and there were no problems. And I knew some Nigerian Christians who were in Libya. There were no real problems, but they said that the Libyan Arabs were openly racist towards Blacks (typical Arab behavior)  and they really hated Christians. In places where Christian minorities are tiny, the Muslims just leave them alone as unimportant. In places like Lebanon, the Muslims leave the Christians alone too, since the Christians are very well-armed and have lots of political power and numbers. The Maronites, for all their faults, have the reputation for being some of the baddest-ass Christians in the Middle East, and the one group of Christians who successfully fought off the Muslims for centuries. It seems to be ok to be a Christian in Syria and Jordan too. Egypt is definitely not ok. It’s not a nightmare, but there are a lot of problems for Christians. Turkey and Pakistan are not secure for Christians at all, but Iran seems to be ok. The Christians have been ethnically cleansed from Chechnya, and there is ongoing ethnic cleansing in Iraq. In Southern Philippines and the Moluccas, it’s “kill the Christians.” Anywhere you have a jihad against the Christian “occupiers” or “colonists” (Chechnya, Philippines and Iraq) the local Christians really get pounded. There’s typically ethnic cleansing and genocidal behavior of some sort. There are real problems in places like Palestine where the Christians have more than tiny numbers, but not big enough numbers or power to be tough like the Maronites.

An Inquiry Into Roman Antisemitism

In the following excerpt from the great historical novel, Yourcenar’s Memoirs of Hadrian, we see the so-called anti-Semitism of the Romans. Super-Jews usually interpret this sentiment as an example of the age-old mindless genocidal hatred of the Jews. As we can see though, the pragmatic Romans had their reasons for their anti-Semitism, and they were not really mindless reasons at all. The Jewish New Year celebrations were banned because they were causing violent riots every year. For similar reasons, probably because it also led to violent riots, the authorities also forbade the public reading of the Story of Esther, the basis for Purim holiday, but which the Romans regarded as a perverse celebration of  horrendous mutual massacre on the part of both the Jews and the Persians. Jewish paranoia is already evident, as a harmless logo of a Roman legion, a boar, is interpreted as a deliberate insult to the Jewish religion’s prohibition on eating pork. In a spirit of universalism, the Roman governor forbade circumcision. The reasons are not quite elaborated, but apparently he wanted to assimilate the Jews into the rest of the Empire. We see already the Jews’ refusal to assimilate. This refusal has been the cause of a tremendous amount of anti-Semitism over the centuries, but anger over refusal to assimilate is hardly mindless. Furthermore, it appears that the Romans regarded circumcision as a barbarism along the lines of castration, which they had just previously forbidden. In this the Romans mirror movements, some of them even regarded strangely as progressive, to outlaw or at least discourage circumcision, especially in the West. These movements have actually managed to attract a lot of support from physicians. Keep in mind that the Romans considered themselves the ultimate in civilized folks, and regarded many of their subjects as barbarians of one type or another. Along the same lines, the Romans required little of their subjects beyond taxes, but they did request that the subjects, whatever their religion, also accept the Roman Gods. Almost all subject peoples just went along with this as one of the prices for being a vassal state. The Roman elite, it should be noted, were very secular (and nearly pre-scientific) folks, and many of them hardly even believed in the Roman Gods themselves, regarding it instead as some sort of opiate of the people thing to keep the peons satisfied. The Romans also accuse the Jews of hatred and contempt for non-Jews. This is an age-old charge, and obviously there must be something to it or it would not be repeated endlessly. Hadrian wished to turn Jerusalem into more of an international city, mirroring the progressive efforts of today to make it an international city under the auspices of the UN as part of a peace settlement of the Middle East conflict. The Jews, mirroring the Zionists of today, seemed to want to keep Jerusalem as a Jews-only city. The Romans introduced classes in Greek literature to Jerusalem (the ultimate in civilized standards of the day). The Jews reacted with violence to this, or any other tainting of their Jewish city and lives with “foreign influence.” One famous Jew even allowed his child to die rather than to be treated by a famous Greek doctor sent to try to save his life. The Romans tried over and over, exasperated, to mollify these fanatics, but were thwarted at every turn. Eventually the famous Jewish Bar Kokba Rebellion erupted around 150 AD, the result of which was the razing of Jerusalem to the ground. So we see here that Roman anti-Semitism was not based on irrational hatred or evil, but with the frustration of the uber-civilized Romans with a religious-ethnic group whom they regarded as steeped in barbarous fanaticism. Looking at it from a more pro-Jewish POV, we can see the Jews as the ultimate rebels who would never submit to any other outside authority, especially in matters of religion.

The Tenth Legion Fretensis has a wild boar for its emblem; when its standard was placed at the city gates, as is the custom, the populace, unused to painted or sculptured images (deprived as they have been for centuries by superstition highly unfavorable to the progress of the arts), mistook that symbol for a swine, the meat of which is forbidden them, and read into that insignificant affair an affront to the customs of Israel. The festivals of the Jewish New Year, celebrated with a din of trumpets and ram’s horns, give rise every year to brawling and bloodshed; our authorities accordingly forbade the public reading of a certain legendary account devoted to the exploits of a Jewish heroine (Easther) who was said to have become, under an assumed name, the concubine of a king of Persia (Iran), and to have instigated a savage massacre of the enemies of her despised and persecuted race. The rabbis managed to read at night what the governor Tineus Rufus forbade them to read by day; that barbarous story, wherein Persians and Jews rivaled each other in atrocities, roused the nationalistic fervor of the Zealots to frenzy (a feast of Purim). Finally, this same Tineus Rufus, a man of good judgment in other respects and not uninterested in Israel’s traditions and fables, decided to extend to the Jewish practice of circumcision the same severe penalties of the law which I had recently promulgated against castration (and which was aimed especially at cruelties perpetrated upon young slaves for the sake of exorbitant gain or debauch). He hoped thus to obliterate one of the marks whereby Israel claims to distinguish itself from the rest of human kind. I took the less notice of the danger of that measure, when I received word of it, in that many wealthy and enlightened Jews whom one meets in Alexandria (Egypt) and in Rome have ceased to submit their children to a practice which makes them ridiculous in the public baths and gymnasiums; and they even arrange to conceal the evidence on themselves. I was unaware of the extent to which these banker collectors of myrrhine vases differed from the true Israel. As I said, nothing in all that was beyond repair, but the hatred, the mutual contempt, and the rancor were so. In principle, Judaism has its place among the religions of the empire; in practice, Israel has refused for centuries to be one people among many others, with one god among the gods. The most primitive Dacians (Bulgarians) know that their Zalmoxis is called Jupiter in Rome; the Phoenician Baal of Mount Casius has been readily identified with the Father who holds Victory in his hands, and whom Wisdom is born; the Egyptians, though so proud of their myths some thousands of years old, are willing to see in Osiris a Bacchus with funeral attributes; harsh Mithra admits himself brother of Apollo. No people but Israel has the arrogance to confine truth wholly within the narrow limits of a single conception of divine, thereby insulting the manifold nature of Deity, who contains all; no other god has inspired his worshipers with disdain and hatred for those who pray at different altars. I was only the more anxious to make Jerusalem a city like others, where several races and several beliefs could live in peace; but I was wrong to forget that in any combat between fanaticism and common sense the latter has rarely the upper hand. The clergy of the ancient city were scandalized by the opening of schools where Greek literature was taught; the rabbi Joshua, a pleasant, learned man with whom I had frequently conversed in Athens, but who was trying to excuse himself to his people for his foreign culture and his relations with us, now ordered  his disciples not to take up such profane studies unless they could find an hour which was neither day or night, since Jewish law must be studied night and day. Ismael, an important member of the Sanhedrin, who supposedly adhered to the side of Rome, let his nephew Ben-Dama die rather than accept the services the Greek surgeon sent to him by Tineus Rufus.

About Those Tunnels

The tunnels in Gaza are supposedly being pounded by the IDF because they are used for smuggling weapons. However, most of the tunnels are just being used to smuggle food, medicine, household appliances, cooking gas, etc. The tunnels are run by underground business concerns in Rafah, and are quite lucrative. Each of the armed groups has their own smuggling tunnels for smuggling weaponry and whatnot. I find it hard to understand why tunnels that smuggle goods for the civilian population of Gaza must be bombed. The whole idea here, as from the very start of the blockade after Hamas won the election, is about punishing the civilian population for voting for Hamas. As soon as Hamas won, demands were placed on it by the Group of Four, apparently the US, Israel, the UK and the EU (So much for the anti-Semitic Europeans!). These demands were quite unreasonable. Among them were the recognition of Israel and the renunciation of violence. It should be pointed out that no one is demanding that Israel recognize Palestine or renounce violence. Anyway, an occupied people have the right to armed resistance. Since Hamas refused to obey, a cruel embargo was slapped on them, intended specifically to punish the people of Gaza for electing Hamas. This embargo resulted in over 5 The power plant was bombed – the plant which ran the sewage treatment plant – so raw sewage has been pouring out into the ocean and is now seeping into the aquifer, threatening to contaminate the water supply. The rocket attacks pretty much started when Israel refused to lift the embargo. After Israel pulled out of Gaza, it retained control over Gaza’s borders, including the borders at Egypt and the sea. Israel even retained control over Gaza’s population registry list. As a starting point at working towards a cease-fire, Israel could have offered to lift the blockade in return for a halt in rocket attacks. In Operation Cast Lead, it looks like Israel bombed that American school in Gaza, the crown jewel of Gaza’s education system, on purpose. Once again, the reason here is just to punish the civilian population for electing and supporting Hamas. There were no rockets being fired from anywhere near that school. The superb Norman Finkelstein has an excellent roundup (long) of the issues surrounding Operation Cast Lead 2008-2009 and the Lebanon War 2006, the real reasons for both of which were to “restore Israeli deterrence capacity vis a vis the Arabs” and to head off a potential peace settlement on terms that Israel considers to be unfavorable. The piece also deals with many issues surrounding the events leading up to Operation Cast Lead. Dem Arabs gittin a bit uppity, have to put dem in dey place.

Why Egypt Cooperated With Israel on the Gaza Operation

This question has probably mystified many people. The Ikwaan. And, in the Egyptian context, specifically. Hassan al-Banna. What does this have to do with Hamas? It is not well-known, because the MB is unpopular, along with fundamentalist Islam (yes, it is true, forget the Zionist lies), in Palestine, but Hamas is nothing other than the Muslim Brotherhood-Palestine (see 2nd paragraph). Also see here, under Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. MB-Palestine is nothing other than a wing of MB-Egypt. The MB connection makes Hamas’ very close alliance with Syria all the more perverse and odd. Lots of hard feelings, shall we say, between MB-Egypt and many successive regimes. MB-Egypt has a necessary and sufficient relationship with Al Qaeda itself. Al Qaeda’s leading philosopher (deceased) was a member. One of the philosopher’s most ardent followers is this man, still alive and broadcasting regular videos, including one in which he proudly claims the 9-11 attacks and castigates those who blame the US and Israel as underestimating the great capabilities of the Sunnis. This man is not well-liked by the Egyptian state. This war with the Egyptian state has been pretty much resolved. Egypt mass-arrested most of the members, took them out to the desert, tied them to stakes with no food or water, and requested that they talk. Those who did not give in to interrogators experienced the wrath of the desert met with a man armed with neither food nor water. Death in a day or two. 1000 or so were killed in this charming way. We see how the Arab conducts counterinsurgency. Can you imagine the outcry if Israel deigned to emulate the hated Arabs? Saudi Arabia is one half of the Al Qaeda equation, in terms of its birth anyway. MB-Egypt, etc, etc, is the other half. Failure to understand this essential aspect of the Al Qaeda birth process and continuing influence results in a failure to understand AQ. Why should Americans understand Al Qaeda? 9-11 is an emergency phone call number.

Anti-Semitic Chicken Nazis Threaten Jews

Prior to the latest Gaza War, one of the worst threats facing the Jewish state today was a tribe of Islamo-Nazi super-chickens being raised in Gaza by a suicidal chicken death cult to be suicide chickens and kill every single Jew in Israel. According to the Chicken’s Founding Charter, “not one Jew will be left in Israel.” The chickens had recently taken over Gaza in a chicken coup (hehe), killing many moderate chickens in the process and instituting a chicken dictatorship over other animals. Lately, the chickens had been launching chicken poop rockets at Israel on a daily basis. Although there were no casualties, the chicken poop launched at Sderot caused many cases of shock in the Israelis living near the Chicken Terrorist Haven of Gaza. Further, it is said that two Jews, one 85 and the other 87, forgot to take their heart meds and nearly had fatal heart attacks when the chicken shit was really flying over southwest Israel. The chickens refuse to accept any past agreements with Israel and refuse to recognize the Jewish state, since it grants no rights to chickens. Further, the chickens say that Jews stole the land where they used to strut and fluff their feathers. The chickens have also refused to renounce violence, and the roosters have been fighting a lot lately. There aren’t any Jewish chickens around to kill, so they turn on each other in a fratricidal chicken war in Gaza. Israel has blockaded the chickens, putting them on a starvation diet and making for some awfully slim boneless fryers. One of the great things about Israel is the US gets to use it as a testing ground for new weapons. Chickens, unlike humans, have proven impervious to most of the techniques yet developed by “USreal” to kill them. However, in the latest Gaza War, Israel used new weapons called “chicken hawks” to decimate the chickens. From the article:

Samir Sawafiri pointed at several dozen hungry chickens scavenging for food between the crushed bodies of nearly 65,000 other birds strewn across a destroyed farm in Zeitoun in Gaza City. “They are all that is left and I have nowhere to put them,” he said. The poultry farms around Zeitoun used to be the Gaza Strip’s main provider of eggs, according to Oxfam. Little but twisted metal and crumbling concrete now remains of the poor suburb on the eastern outskirts of Gaza, one of the areas hit hardest during the war. “I evacuated on January 9,” Mr Sawafiri said. “Three days later, on January 12, tanks came with bulldozers and leveled the fields. They wanted to spoil the economy – that is the only answer. There is no justification for what they did.”

In the war, at least 65,000 Palestinian terrorist jihadi chickens were killed by the IDF in just this one raid. All of the chicken counterattacks killed only 13 Israeli birds. Operation Plucked Chicken was declared a success by Ehud Olmert, though there were worries that the chickens would rebuild their coops and try to re-arm to fight another day. The questions that remains is why the chickens turned into anti-Semites. It seems that not only have the Jews been hated forever by all other humans, but they have also been hated by most other animals, not just humans. It was a matter of time before Euro-weenies, the Far Left and radical Islam roused the chickens to join in the world’s oldest sport, hatred of and war against the Jews.

The Whole Place is a "Settlement"

An pro-settlement Israeli commenter on Ha’aretz, the voice of Israeli liberalism (see comment 7 by a transplanted Dutch Jew in far northern Israel):

Settlement on the land, Hityashvut, has been the backbone of the Zionist endeavor since the first colonies were begun over 120 years ago. In the time of the British, it was especially necessary to create “facts on the ground” in places where the British discouraged settlement, in order to ensure that these locations would remain part of the state of Israel. Today however, the government is us. Settlers who create illegal “facts on the ground” in Judea and Samaria help our own government and our own IDF – us. It is constructive to assist the Israeli government and the IDF with establishing settlements in places that have a large and hostile Arab population. Large parts of the Negev and the Galilee remain sparsely settled and it is also important to invest our efforts in developing these lands. Facts, arguments and reasoning based on moral and historical rights are never obsolete and are still valid today. As to our historical rights: see here.

Sometimes there is no need to put words in their mouth. The horse’s mouth opens and speaks for itself. Not much to add here. This is my beef against Zionism. “The settlements” and “normative Zionism” are properly conflated. Truly, they are an extension of one another. Focusing on “the settlements” while ignoring that the whole damn place is really a gigantic settlement creates a false distinction and whitewashes the Zionist project while legitimating it. Note the comments about the Galilee and the Negev. Israel has been engaged in something called “the Judaization of the Galilee” for many years now. This involves refusing to allow Arab cities and villages to expand, while surrounding them, as if they were bacterial infections,  with the antibiotic of government-funded Jewish communities. The Judaization of the Galilee is discussed even in liberal Ha’aretz as if it were the most normal and proper thing around. The Israeli Left, those who decry “settlements”, seem to have nothing to say about the Judaization of the Galilee. Couple of questions. Suppose the US government regarded the Black areas of the South with alarm, refused to give Black towns and cities the permission to grow, shorted them on government aid, and surrounded them, as if to isolate them, with lavishly funded all-White towns and cities. Who would not call this out for the White Supremacism that it is? It is this staunch anti-racist banner that I lift high when I oppose Zionism. It’s the only reasonable position for any anti-racist or non-racist to take. Unless someone can make a case that Jews get to be super-racists while this project is denied to everyone else. Anyone takers?

The "Jews are Khazars, Not From Palestine" Nonsense

The age-old “Jews are Khazars, not from Palestine” thing has come up in the comments again. It’s too bad we have to refute this thing. It’s actually an interesting question, and Alfred Koestler, Jewish, wrote an interesting book on it called The 13th Tribe. Unfortunately, anti-Semites and especially anti-Zionists have gotten a hold of it and use it to say that Jews do not come from Palestine and hence have no right to it. Ok, first of all, whether or not Jews come from Palestine or Khazaria 2000 years has no bearing on whether they have a right to colonize Palestine and throw out the natives. They have no such right. 2000 year old land deeds not being redeemable and all. I know this guy, and he has done some excellent work on this stuff – it’s the best out there. He’s Jewish, his name is Kevin Brook, and he started out believing in the Khazaria thing, but his research led him to more or less refute it. Let us put this another way. 1 There have been an incredible number of genetic studies of Jews recently (many or all of them are summarized on the Khazaria page). The results are very confusing, but the best summary is that Ashkenazi Jews are mostly from the Middle East, and in part from whatever country in Europe they come from. They are most closely related to Palestinians, Syrians, Iraqis and Lebanese Arabs – the Arabs of the Levant and Mesopotamia. Before that, there is a strong relationship to the Kurds, Turks and Armenians. This follows Biblical teachings that the Jews originally came from northern Iraq before they settled in Middle East. There are a few Ashkenazi Jews who are pure Slavs and are related to the Sorbs and the Belorussians. The Ashkenazi Jews left the Middle East between 1 and 500 AD and settled in Southern Europe, then moving up into Europe. In the first 500 years, there was some interbreeding with European populations, mostly Jewish men mating with Gentile women. Then after about 1000 AD, Talmudic Judaism took hold, and Jews bred almost exclusively among themselves. The Ashkenazi Jews are Khazars, not from Palestine, thing has been refuted.

HR 362 – Beware the Monster

US House Resolution 362 was introduced last spring by Gary Ackerman, a New York Democrat. Text of the resolution. The resolution apparently imposes some sort of a military blockade on Iran. In particular, this part of the resolution here:

…imposing stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran…

Looks a Hell of a lot like a military blockade to me. We are going to intercept all vehicles, ships, planes and trains attempting to enter or leave Iran to see if they have anything naughty on them? Whoa. That’s a blockade. A blockade is generally thought of as an act of war, and if a country is subjected to a blockade, I believe that under the laws of war, the blockaded country has a right to attack the people who are blockading them. Well, yes, Gary Ackerman is Jewish, sure. There is a lot of talk about all sorts of folks who want to attack or fuck with Iran for various reasons outside of Zionism, but at any rate, HR 362 appears to have been drafted by AIPAC itself, and they are the main ones pushing it. Amazingly, the House tabled this resolution when it came up last year. Mr. Ackerman has promised that he will reintroduce the resolution this January when Congress reconvenes (has that happened yet?). The Stop AIPAC website has some good updates on this resolution. If Iran is intent on developing a nuclear bomb, and if Iran really is going to shoot a nuke at Israel, it seems reasonable that a blockade or even an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel, the US or other interested parties would be a good idea. I certainly don’t want to see Iran lobbing any nukes at Israel. However, it seems that even if Iran is trying to get a nuke (I believe that they are), they are just trying to get one for self-defense, since the lesson that came out of the Iraq War 2003 was that countries without nukes can get attacked any time by the US, or I guess Israel. It’s pretty amazing that Israel actually asked Bush for permission to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites last year, but Bush refused to grant flyover and other permission to do so. Turkey was a major part of this Israeli plan (part of the attack would be launched from Turkey) but with this Gaza attack, Israel-Turkey relations are at an unbelievable low. It’s also quite possible that Israel was grooming the new pro-West Georgian government as a place to launch the attack on Iran, but the Russian war with Georgia which resulted in the de facto independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia (which this blog supports, and we supported Russia versus Georgia in the war), seems to have put that on ice too. From the link:

There were reports that Israel wanted to use bases in Georgia to attack Iran and one of Russia’s aim was to preempt that. Interesting to note – Israel got wind of the Russian attack a week before the attacks and left Georgia with its advisers (note: USA stayed behind). The Israelis went to Russia and admitted that arming Georgia was a mistake and implored Russia NOT to arm Hezbollah and Iran with sophisticated armaments and missiles.

Unfortunately, the new senator from New York, Kirsten Gillibrand, taking Hillary Clinton’s place as Hillary moves to Secretary of State, is a strong supporter of HR 362, in fact, she’s a co-sponsor of the bill. Gillibrand’s face was on the front page of the New York Times today, so she’s definitely in the news. She’s in AIPAC’s pocket all right. How do I feel about Iran getting a nuke? I hope they get one. As per the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, the nuclear powers were supposed to get rid of their nukes on the basis that non-nuclear powers would not be allowed to get nukes. The nuclear powers are not upholding their end of the bargain, so screw it. Any reasonable and sane country (Iran is one) who is being threatened by nuclear weapons has a right to get nukes themselves (I believe there is even a provision in the treaty that allows that). Iran’s being threatened with nukes by both the US and Israel, so Iran gets to get a nuke for deterrence. The nuclear powers could have avoided this whole mess by fulfilling their end of the bargain. They have not, and in the foreseeable future, they will not. How worried am I that Iran will lob a first strike nuke at Israel, Europe, or anyone for that matter. Not at all. If I were the least bit worried, I wouldn’t support them getting a nuke. Support Iran’s effort to get a nuclear bomb! Whoa, is that a radical statement or what?

Does Israel Have a Right to Defend Itself?

This is the typical question lobbed by the pro-Israel crowd. What we are saying is that Israel doesn’t have a right to defend herself. This is supposedly an aspect of the New Anti-Semitism, in that everyone has a right to fight back but Jews. Jews have to just sit there and let people kill them, like in WW2. Maybe someone is saying that, but it sure isn’t me. Let’s get things straight here. Everyone has a right to self-defense in wartime (Article 51 of the UN Charter), and possibly in peacetime. If you haven’t shot at cops, but cops are shooting at you (assuming you are not pointing a weapon at them) I assume you have a right to shoot back at cops. This is basically what Leonard Peltier is accused of doing, although the Indian who killed the FBI agent is not Leonard but another guy. During the AIM vs. BIA wars of the early 1970’s, some FBI agents pulled into the Pine Ridge Reservation Sioux reservation in South Dakota, got out of their cars, and started shooting at the Indians up on the ridge. The Indians took cover, grabbed some guns, and started shooting back. Peltier was shooting, but he wasn’t the one who shot the agent, some other Indian was. This is exactly what I think happened. So let’s get clear on this. Everyone has a right to shoot back. Including Nazis. Including Japs in WW2. We were shooting at them, so they had a right to shoot back. They had a right to attack us even when we were not shooting at them, since we were hostile forces at war with them. So of course Israel has a right to fight back, and even to attack Palestinian forces in Gaza who were shooting rockets at Israel. What about proportionality? Israel killing 1,400 Palestinians while only 13 Israelis got killed is said to be the war crime of lack of proportionality. Actually, this is a difficult case to make. Disproportionality can be a war crime, but even this is uncertain. There are laws against collective punishment, but it’s uncertain if disproportionality is included. There is stuff about disproportionality in the Draft Articles in State Responsibility, recently adopted by the International Law Commission (see December 29, 2008 1:02 PM comment), but that’s not international law yet. What that means (see December 28, 2008 1:18 PM comment) is that if you have a town where there is one building in the town with some fighters in it shooting at you, you don’t have a right to blow up or level the whole town to get at the one building. You can blow up the building, sure. So it’s hard to argue that Israel committed the war crime of disproportionate response in this case. However, the UN is complaining that what Israel did is to lock the civilians into Gaza, prevent them from fleeing, and then attack. I’m not sure on international law, but I’m pretty sure you have to give civilians the right to flee the fighting? Egypt and the US are also at fault here, since the US, Egypt and Israel all control the Rafah checkpoint, and terrified Gazans were not allowed to flee to Egyptian safety in this latest war, held back to gun-wielding troops. I will point out that the US did much the same in Fallujah. Right before they invaded, scores or hundreds of civilians, mostly unarmed young men in civilian clothes, tried to flee the city, only to be turned back at gunpoint by US troops. How cruel can you get? In the Gaza case, even worse from my point of view is that they dropped leaflets on Gaza telling civilians to leave the area as it was about to be attacked, then the Israelis went ahead and attacked them anyway after they fled to UN shelters and whatnot. I guess that is some kind of a super-cruel Israeli joke. “Flee! Flee! Civilians get out! We are going to attack the area!” Then later, “Haha! Just kidding! You fell for it. Suckers! Here’s a bomb on your head!” The punch line is there’s no escape. It’s like throwing a Surprise Birthday Party for a guy at work, and then the boss barges in and says, “Happy birthday! You’re fired!” And the whole room erupts in gales of laughter as birthday boy shrivels up. Downright hilarious.

Good God, Haven't We Heard This Before?

They think we are going to fall for this one again? If you’re reading, 4th paragraph is the take-home point. What on Earth are they thinking? Do they think we are stupid? Last time they played this trick on us, the country at the butt end of the joke got attacked around a year later. The trick was just part of the Felix’s bag of tricks designed to fool people into going along with a war of aggression on a foreign state. So what’s the purpose this time?

Does Israel Deliberately Target Civilians?

In the comments section, Dano points out some of the Israeli crimes in the Gaza attack, including targeting the UN building and the use of white phosphorus. I am convinced that Israel was directly targeting civilians in this Gaza incursion and that they do so regularly. The UN seems to agree with me. Why? The reason is to make the civilian population pay for supporting Hamas, the PLO, Hezbollah or whoever. Are they trying to kill every civilian in sight? No way. If they were even halfway trying that, there would be 13,000 dead in Gaza in 2 weeks and not 1,300. So it’s complicated. They shoot at civilians, ambulances, journalists, hospitals, UN buildings, etc. sometimes, but not all the time. The message for targeting the places where the refugees were huddled is that “no place is safe.” This is what will happen if you support Hamas, Hezbollah or whoever. This is what happens if you let Hamas, Hezbollah or whoever shoot rockets at us or attack our troops. The message, as Marty Peretz says in The New Republic, is “don’t fuck with the Jews.” Peretz’ comment set off a lot of criticism, even amongst progressive Jews. If you let these armed groups attack Israel, we are going to invade you. Don’t think you are get away by being a civilian and hiding in the UN building and letting the armed guys take the heat. Forget that. There will be no mercy for civilians. As a civilian, you will be attacked, in any place you hide, no matter how safe or secure. So keep these damned armed groups on a reign or this will be your punishment. It sort of works, as you can see – Hezbollah has engaged in few, if any, attacks on Israel since the Lebanon invasion. For a long time, I did not believe that Israel was deliberately targeting civilians. Their whole thing is we are White and Western and most civilized army on Earth, so we don’t do that shit. But if you dig around, you find that they definitely do, but it’s in pretty judicial amounts. Do a lot of digging into the attack on the Qana Base in Lebanon in 1996 and it’s obvious that Israel deliberately hit it. There were no Palestinian fighters shooting from the UN school, the UN relief agency, the Islamic University, or lots of other places. In the case of the UN school where 40 civilians were killed, there were fighters, but they were a couple of streets away, not firing from the building. So, did Israel target the UN school? I’m not sure, but I am starting to think that maybe they did. There was no firing whatsoever from the UN relief agency either. It’s well known that Israel and its supporters despise the UN as anti-Semitic. This is a tragic statement. The UN is nothing more than all of the nations on Earth. If these Jews really think that almost all the nations on Earth hate them, then that’s sad and it’s getting into psychopathology, notably paranoia. Is it true? Does nearly every nation on Earth hate Jews? That’s an incredibly dubious proposition. But keep in mind that the Israelis lie like maniacs, too. First we never used White Phosphorus, now we did use it, but only to light things up. I doubt it. They used it to terrorize the civilian population into knocking off the rockets. Amnesty International has accused Israel of a war crime in using white phosphorus in a heavily built-up area such as Gaza. Amnesty International is a pretty subdued organization, so if they accuse you of war crimes, that’s pretty hard-hitting stuff. As far as DIME and depleted uranium, Palestinian physicians are saying that they are finding it in victims. I think it’s quite possible that Israel is using DU in Gaza. After all, their munitions come from the US, and many US munitions now include DU, because it is one kickass weapon. We have a lot of reports that civilians were shot as they were waving white flags and fleeing, that IDF troops stood there and shot civilians over and over as they stood near them. The response of Israel is always, “These Arabs are lying.” But I’m quite sure that these stories are true. Once that argument is demolished, the Israelis always say that “they missed.” In general, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. It’s classic counterinsurgency doctrine that you always arrest, beat, torture, shoot and kill the civilian supporters of any insurgency. Just about every counterinsurgency in the last 100 years has been fought this way. It’s never enough to get just the armed guys. You go after their civilian support base too. It’s called “draining the sea to kill the fish,” and it’s taught at US military schools, for sure at the School of the Americas. What does a state have the right to do in a counterinsurgency? They can pass laws that outlaw supporting the guerrillas. You can arrest people, take them to court and try to prove that they are supporting the armed group in some way or another. But that never seems to be enough. States almost always end up committing mass murder of civilians in any counterinsurgency. An exception is Spain’s war against the ETA, but that was not a very hot war anyway. What can a state do with fighters? Well, try to arrest them, if you catch them in civilian clothes and you think they are a guerrilla. Take them to court, charge them with terrorism, rebellion or whatever, and try to convict them. Typically, states just kill anyone suspected of being a guerrilla. Or they arrest them, take them into custody, and kill them. Typically, they utilize “non-state actors” like death squads to do this sort of nasty business. Death squads are typically state security forces in civilian clothes. Problem is it’s often hard to prove in court that someone was a guerrilla. So the rule of law usually gets suspended in a counterinsurgency, and lots of folks just get socked away on “no charges” for God knows how long, or “disappeared.” Sometimes the disappeared turn up alive, but mostly they are killed. When states do go the legal route and try to convict guerrillas in court, it’s not helpful that insurgents often threaten judges and witnesses in the cases. Peru is a recent example of a state that somewhat went the legal route (at the same time they were committing mass murder against civilians) in its war against the Shining Path. The legal route was not working, so Fujimori came in, created a dictatorship, abolished the rule of law, and crushed the insurgency. He arrested an incredible 1 If you strike enough terror into the civilian population, they won’t support the insurgency anymore. Tragically, this does work. Terror works. Nevertheless, it’s terrorism. You can make just as good of an argument for Al Qaeda’s attacking British, Spanish, Australian and US civilians in the London bus bombings, the Spanish train bombings, the Bali bombings and 9-11. Al Qaeda, as bin Laden has made clear, is attacking the civilian support base of the enemy forces. This is just as moral or immoral as any counterinsurgency on Earth attacking and killing the civilian support base any non-state armed group. Supporters of counterinsurgency, prove me wrong here! Show me you’re not just as bad as any terrorists out there? I will point out that Hezbollah, Hamas and the rest are obviously committing war crimes too. They’re deliberately targeting Israeli civilians, right? I would also note that hardly any armies fight fair in war anymore. Show me an army that is fighting a war or fought a recent war which fought fair and did not commit war crimes? We include counteringencies here. Pretty hard to find, huh?

On Israeli Fears of Palestinian Intentions

In the comments section, a commenter quotes Ahmed Rami the Radio Islam site and wonders what he means by “Hatred, force and ethnic cleansing never originate where self-determination, freedom and justice are guaranteed.” Rami is a notorious anti-Semite Moroccan Arab from Sweden. However, he does have some interesting stuff on his site. He’s a big fan of the Palestinians, so that’s what that quote is all about. On the other hand, Rami is fanatically in favor of Morocco’s colonization of the Sahrawis’ land in Spanish Sahara, which is awfully close to what the Israelis are doing in Palestine. There’s a reason Morocco has so many UN resolutions against them. By the way, the US has always backed Morocco’s colonization of Spanish Sahara to the hilt. What Rami means is if Jewish Israelis had “guaranteed self-determination, freedom and justice” for the Palestinians, there would have been no need for Israelis to engage in “hatred, force and ethnic cleansing” of the Palestinians. On the other hand, the Israeli Jewish argument is that the Palestinians, given half a chance, would not “guarantee self-determination, freedom and justice” for the Jews in Israel, and would engage in “hatred, force and ethnic cleansing” of these Jews. Statements by Arabs to the effect that “we are going to drive them into the sea” and whatnot haven’t helped to assuage such fears. Arafat himself, asked what would happen in a free Palestine with Jews and Arabs living together, said that the Palestinians would “engage in psychological terrorism” to make the Jews leave. Hamas has recycled some of the most noxious and notorious anti-Semitic bullshit and stuck it right in its founding charter. It has also refused to amend this charter despite some major efforts by Gulf Arabs at Doha a while back to do so. Doha is where a lot of the Hamas leadership spends quite a bit of its time, by the way. I think they also spend a lot of time in a North African country, possibly Morocco, but I could be wrong. There’s also some choice Islamic anti-Semitism in that charter that says at the end of the world, the Muslims are going to chase all the Jews on Earth down and kill all of them. Yeah, Mohammad wrote that. Hamas’ leader, Sheik Yassin, said that all of the Jews in Israel who could not trace their ancestry back to 1917 (Balfour Declaration) would need to take off. The Zionist movement actually began before Balfour, but I guess Hamas is being generous. Islamic Jihad, in a statement by the leadership in 1992 on their website, is willing to let all Jews stay in Israel, hopefully provided they live under Islamic Law. Their basis for this was that Jews had always lived in Palestine. I haven’t seen any recent statements. Al Qaeda’s position is that all Jews in Israel need to take off. Even Al Qaeda doesn’t say that they are out to kill all the Jews in Israel! Or at least not now, anyway. Anyway, under any of the Islamic groups, Jews could always stick around provided they convert to Islam. I realize that’s little consolation to 9 Even the PFLP “bases” reportedly still hold that a free Palestine “must be Arab“, with Jews, if they are present, as a minority in an Arab land. I don’t see how “Palestine is an Arab state” is any more democratic than “Israel is a Jewish state.” Any pro-Pallies want to help me out here? As far as the PFLP leadership, no one seems to quite know what they think, but Leila Khaled has taken on Hezbollah recently for suggesting that the Jews in Israel all have to take off, based on Islam. She said the PFLP position is that Jews and Arabs can live together in Palestine, and said that the PFLP rejects Hezbollah’s religious-based anti-Jewish position. Some of the PFLP base people like the Free Arab Voice take the position that all the Jews need to take off too. No one saying this says how they are going to accomplish this task, although the FAV page linked does say that they propose “armed struggle to throw the invaders out of Palestine.” The original PLO Charter of 1964 signed by Arafat said that all Jews must take off other than those who can trace their ancestry back to 1917. That’s my take on Article 7 after I read some other documents surrounding this typically mealy-mouthed declaration, plus I knew some hardline Arab Commies who read it that way. Balfour again. So the saner Jews in Israel who might not mind living with lots of Arabs are afraid that the Arabs don’t want to live with Jews as much as so many Jews don’t want to live with Arabs. I must say that unfortunately there is something to their fears. Nevertheless, even the hardest line factions like Hamas and the PFLP (the ultimate hardliners – one Islamist and the other super-secular Marxist) have more or less said in a mealy-mouthed way that they will support a 2-state solution. Both say they will support it “for the time being” as a temporary solution. Neither one really comes out and says that, but if you read between the lines, that seems to be what they are saying. Hezbollah, as hardline as their rhetoric is, says that they will support whatever solution that the Palestinians agree to, no matter what it is. If the Palestinians agree to 2-state, Hezbollah isn’t going to say, “Forget that, we are still fighting.” Iran pretty much says the same thing. So the notion that all of the Arabs are still committed to “throwing the Jews into the sea,” as my dear 87-year old Judeophilic father insists, just does not seem to be the case. On the other hand, are the Arabs ready to join hands with Israeli Jews, sing Kumbaya, and live in peace happily ever after? Well, not that either. Once again, it’s comlicated.

"A Jewish and Democratic State"

Tom Segev is ok, and as far as Israeli intellectuals go, he’s a shining star. Like George Habash, we need to praise every little bit of positive movement on the part of progressive Israelis. Segev is one of the “New Historians” so despised by the Israeli rightwing for, well, telling the truth? Even this truth has been rather hedged lately as folks like Benny Morris have started to cave under overwhelming attacks from their fellow Jews. What’s telling is how Segev keeps repeating this phrase over and over, tick-like, “Jewish and democratic state”. You can Google “Segev” and “Jewish and democratic state” and find that he says this phrase the same way clocks chime the hours. He can’t help it. He’s just programmed to say those words. But as we think it over, we being sensible folks, doesn’t the argument of the recently-banned Balad Party in Israel (secular Left Arab party loosely allied with the Palestinian PFLP containing not only Arabs but some leftwing Jewish supporters) seem to make sense? Balad says it supports an Israel of all of its citizens, not just Jewish ubermenschen. I guess they got banned for that. All Arab parties must now sign a pledge saying that they support Israel as a Jewish state. As long as that is the case, if you are an Israeli Arab, why bother to vote? If you’ve gotten this far, I should not have to point this out: A “Jewish and democratic state” is obviously…an oxymoron? Zionists please, prove me wrong here. I mean, it can be either a Jewish state or a democratic state, but it can’t be both at the same time, you know? Segev is one smart guy; he must know this phrase is oxymoronic on some level. So why does he keep spouting nonsense? Zionism is a secular religion? P.S. Ditto for all those “Islamic states” out there. You guys don’t get a pass!

The Left's Nonsense on Palestine

Lafayette Sennacherib points out in the comments section that the British Left says that the whole problem in Palestine is “capitalism and imperialism, not Jews.” This can be seen eloquently on the PFLP’s website where they carry recent statements by the KOE in Greece, the ILPS (International League of People’s Struggles) and the CMKP in Pakistan. All of these are pretty hard-Left organizations. The KOE is a Maoist party in Greece, the CMKP is a more or less unapologetic Stalinist type party in Pakistan and the ILPS is now chaired by Jose Maria Sison, head of the CPP, Communist Party of the Philippines, whose armed wing, the NPA (National People’s Army) wages a Maoist rebellion in the Philippines. So we have two Maoist parties and a Stalinist party. If you read all of those statements, you will note that they all take the line that Israel is a pawn of US imperialism. It’s US imperialism’s “attack dog” in the region. I’ve already discussed in previous posts why Israel is of little to no benefit to imperialism at all, and in fact, it’s a great big gigantic fat liability. It’s true, some sort of dysfunctional imperialist-Zionist hegemony has come to define the relationship, but it’s not like we get much out of it, other than maybe letting Israel use our latest weapons. We now colonize Iraq as a result in part of this twisted co-dependency, but it’s hard to imagine a US imperialism not entangled up with Zionism would be idiotically colonizing an Arab country. Sure, we get to buy influence in the region, but the costs to imperialism of this project would seem to massively outweigh whatever crumbs of benefits we get out of it. Surely there must be a cheaper way, in both blood and treasure, to purchase influence in the Arab World. I’m not going to say the problem is Jews either, other than Jews being typical primitive humans who have not yet joined the modern world and are continuing to engage in ancient tribal  behaviors. But it’s downright absurd to say that the problem in Palestine in capitalism and imperialism. The only reason that the Left says this is because nowadays they are terrified to discuss race or ethnicity. And the lunacy of Marxism says that race or ethnicity has nothing whatsoever to do with anything. Why are Jews and Palestinians fighting? Capitalism done made em do it. Why is there racism? Capitalism done turned us into a bunch of knuckle-dragging bigots. Yet any sensible view of human relations shows that tribal warfare and conflict and the racism that inevitably springs from must be as old as man. What does capitalism and imperialism have to do with a Jewish settler-colonial project and the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian aborigines? About as much as capitalism and imperialism had to do with the settler-colonial projects in North America, Australia, Hawaii or elsewhere. Conquer the natives, steal their land, kill them if they resist, put them on reservations, throw them out of the country. This stuff is as old as man. Tribes have always been conquering other tribes, throwing them off the land and stealing their land. For 1000’s of years. Before there was any capitalism or imperialism. It’s age-old tribal behavior. The Geneva Conventions after WW2 which outlawed annexing land, ethnically cleansing conquered peoples or settling conquered lands, were supposed to put an end to this age-old bullshit once and for all. So Zionism really is an anachronism. Neither is it the only settler-colonial project going on the world. There are others – Chinese settler-colonists in Tibet and Xinjiang in China; Indonesian Malay settler-colonists in Papua New Guinea and Aceh in Indonesia; various settler-colonial projects in South Kurdistan carried out by the Kurds themselves and displacing Shia and Christian Kurds, Christian Arabs, Shia, Sunni  and Christian Arabs and Sunni and Shia Turkmen; various settler-colonial projects carried out in Kosova by the Albanians in which Serbs and Gypsies were replaced by Albanians; the whole mess of the Balkan Wars in the 1990’s where Croats and Serbs carried out various settler-colonial projects against Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks; a settler-colonial project in Darfur and Southern Sudan in which Arab Muslims replace African Muslims and Christians; another one being carried out by Morocco in Southern Sahara in which Sahrawis are replaced by Moroccan settlers; and settler-colonial projects in Syria and Iran involving removal of Iranians, Assyrians and Kurds and their replacement with Sunni Arab settler-colonists. It’s hard to say whether there is a settler-colonial project going on Mindanao. There was one a while back involving Christian settler-colonists in Muslim Mindanao, but I don’t think it’s ongoing. There are also settler-colonial projects going on in Brazilian Amazon, Mexico (Chiapas) and Colombia where Indians are thrown off their land with violence, which is then stolen by rich people for plantations. A good argument is that nowadays only fascist regimes engage in settler-colonialism and ethnic cleansing. Any regime doing that nowadays has some serious fascist tendencies. That some are nominally Communist, as in China, makes it all the more shameful. So you can see there is nothing aberrant about the Zionist project. Similar projects are going on all over the globe. But setter-colonialism and ethnic cleansing define one as a primitive. If you engage in primitive behavior, you’re a primitive. Everyone doing this sort of crap needs to knock it off and join the civilized world.

The Middle Eastern Left and Capitulation to Imperialism

From a Maoist mailing list that I am on, an excellent piece on how Communists and the Left in general have so utterly failed the people of the Middle East. This is part – a small part, but still a part – of why Islamists are so popular. The Left has completely blown it. I had never heard of the Three Worlds Theory before. It’s hard to believe that any Leftists anywhere got behind such nonsense. The record of the Iraqi Communist Party has been sorry indeed, and I had not heard good things about the WCP’s of Iraq and Iran. It’s incredible that the ICP-MLM’s line is that in the event of a US invasion of Iran, they will fight alongside the US to overthrow the regime. The only reasonable position to take in these cases is to fight the invaders. I recall that in Iraq, in 1967 and 1973, after there had been a huge purge of the Left, the Communists who were in Iraqi prisons in 1967 and 1973 demanded to be let out in order to join the wars against Israel. They promised to go back to prison afterward. That’s the spirit! Viva patria libre. This is a good piece. It doesn’t argue for throwing our weight behind fundamentalist nuts, but on the other hand, it doesn’t argue for supporting imperialism either. However, I would also reject the usual leftwing notion, stated below, that Israel is a pawn, tool or colony of US imperialism. As a recent piece in Counterpunch pointed out, this must be some kind of a joke. Israel offers no benefit to the US or any other Western country. At best, it’s a giant millstone. A typical Left theory is that imperialism wants to keep the Middle East stirred up and at war so they can sell weapons to it, make money off the weapons sales, and, in the case of Arab nationalists, divide and conquer the Arab World through the placement of an Israeli colony in the middle of it. Or, alternatively, to keep the Arabs dependent on our arms sales, profiting us and insuring their loyalty. Although this theory is very appealing to Leftists (I even subscribed to it myself for a bit), it’s appalling in its stupidity. First of all, capitalists want peace, not war. They make way more money when a region is at peace than when it’s at war, the arms industry aside. That Israel is some sort of a colony of the US and not the other way around (as Uri Avnery has noted) is a preposterous theory. This theory has the advantage of letting the Israelis off the hook. Poor pawns of imperialism, boo hoo. Jew as victim all over again. Further, it avoids the minefield of the Jewish Israeli Lobby in the West, which the Left does not want to touch. Much of the Left is still sensitive to anti-Semitism. Anti-Semites have always been our worst enemies, and they left piles of dead Communists, Leftists and progressives built of tens of millions of our dead, as high as mountains, in the past century. Further, any anti-Semite worth his salt will quickly remind you of the debt we on the Left have to the Jews, who have been instrumental in our movement. Finally, anti-Semitism as a form of racism is of course anathema to us. The problem here is that Israel, and its heavily Jewish Amen corner in the US, is part of the problem. No mealy mouthed pussyfooting around the issue gets us away from that. That doesn’t mean we turn into anti-Semites. It just means we call em as we see em and place the blame where it lies. The media I read and listen to it is full of Jews screaming about Israel. There’s no logical reason why one must be an anti-Semite to oppose the Zionist regime. The piece starts here: …What this implies is that we should only support a communist or progressive national resistance to Israel. But this is just the usual western Left delusion. What are the Communist forces in the Middle East? The revisionists such as the Iraqi Communist Party that sat on the Iraq Governing Council as collaborators when the US was carrying out its genocidal attack on Fallujah. The Worker-Communist Party of Iraq and Iran whose mentor Hekmat openly supported the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. The Communist Party of Iran (Marxist-Leninist- Maoist) who repeat the error of the ‘Three Worlds Theory’ by calling for ‘revolutionaries’ to fight to achieve the same objective as the US (overthrow of the current Iranian regime) in the event of a US invasion of Iran. The Three Worlds Theory was the theory that revolutionaries and progressives should effectively unite with US imperialism to defeat the perceived greater threat of the Soviet Union. The CPI-MLM just takes the same dud theory and applies it to Islamic Fundamentalism. Communists have sold out the people of the Middle East too often to be trusted now. It is obvious that the US and its proxy Israel is the main enemy of the people of the Middle East and other oppressed nations. They have devastated Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Palestine. Why on Earth would the people of the Middle East choose to try to resist this dreadful force that is bringing their nations to ruin under the leadership of people that time and time again side with the country that is the cause of all their misfortune? It’s absolutely ridiculous for Communists to make such a meal of criticising national liberation movements like Hamas. Yes, we know such movements can end up vacillating in their resistance to imperialism. But the Communists who make this criticism of Hamas just use this as an excuse for siding with American imperialism in a far more decisive manner than groups like Hamas and Hezbollah have done. The vacillations of the national resistance movements are just used as an alibi by the Communists for their capitulation to imperialism. Rather than criticising groups like Hamas from such a position of abject weakness, Communists should be criticising themselves for the way they have failed the people so dreadfully. Only once this is done can credibility be regained. Does any of this mean we should tail Islamicists? Not at all, though that is the slander thrown against all Maoists that disagree with the policy of fighting on the same side as US imperialism. The Maoist line in the case of an attack on an oppressed nation is to unite with all forces that can be united with to resist the foreign invasion. The Maoists therefore form a United Front to wage a war of national resistance. This front must be led by the Maoists, not by the reactionaries. This leads to an obvious problem that initially the Maoist Party will be small and unable to lead. Therefore their priority is to build up their strength. This can and will lead to conflict with the reactionary government and the reactionary resistance movements, just as Mao’s PLA fought with the Chiang Kai-Shek’s army before and after the anti-Japan United Front had been formed. Even while engaging in such conflicts Maoists must stress the line that the main enemy is the invader but that only the Maoists can lead successful resistance, not the reactionaries. Such a line is a world away from the line of uniting with imperialism against local reactionaries. Finally, we must avoid the moralism that says we, who are not in the Middle East, should not tell them how to run their struggles. When Communist parties are going very badly wrong then it is our responsibility to point this out. The CPI-MLM has certainly not been shy of expressing its criticisms of the CPN (M), so I hardly think moralistic considerations should concern us either.
