Banned from a Store LOL

The other day I was in a grocery store checkout line. There was an elderly lady there with a small child, a little girl, with her. The girl was maybe five years old. As soon as the kid sees me, she gives me the thumbs down sign! Kinda pissed me off. I’m picking up my bags for checkout, and I turn around, and the kid gives me the thumbs down sign again. I turn around and give the kid the thumbs down sign and say, “Thumbs down to you!” Then I grab my bags and leave.

I go to the same store today, and security comes up to me and tells me I’m banned for six months based on my conduct – my conduct with customers and with staff, I think he said. I told him I’d never had any negative interactions with the staff. I told him that some little kid was insulting me to my face and trying to start a fight, so I insulted her back.

Now I’m banned for six months, but I’m probably never going back. I’m sure they all think I’m a psycho in there.

Ok, peeps, tell me what I did wrong. Did I do something wrong by insulting that little brat right back? Were they right to ban me for six months?

  1. I don’t think you did anything wrong but pragmatically, yeah, bad form.

I can’t believe they banned you for a stupid thumbs down…you sure it wasn’t a middle finger!

I would have ignored the brat cause I’m good at that. Kids are sacred man, we treat them like delicate China.

I like your blog. I should add you to my roll. Did you meet me on Moon of Alabama? They hate me over there now because I believe the Israel nuked Beirut theory. You’re a Californian, too?

    1. You mean I’m not supposed to get angry at little brats who are insulting me? If that’s so, then in the future, I will just ignore the little shits if they start doing it again unless they’re really out of line.

It’s pragmatically speaking bad form? In other words, I caused a scene? They banned me for causing a scene?

Well I gave her a thumbs down and then I said, “Thumbs down to you too!” Maybe it was for what I said. They would have banned me for just the thumbs down though. No, I didn’t give her the middle finger. I believe in responding like with like. She gives me a thumbs down, I’m going to give one right back to the little brat.

Weird, I met one of the checkers at the coffee shop and approached her and she moved backwards quickly when I addressed me. Women hardly ever do that to me. It made me really angry at the time, but I guess she was either there at the time or she heard about me. I got the feeling as I was walking into the store that some of the employees were looking at me pretty deeply. Not hostile, just looking at me.

      1. Nah, ignore the brats. Fuck em and their diseased enabling parents too.

I feel the same way about dogs. Pet owners and parents and lawyers are the downfall of society.

By pragmatic/bad form I’m implying it’s just social intelligence to not get ruffled by a kid throwing shade at you. You are a man and could pummel that little shit to a pulp, but this is an enlightened shitfest we live in. We move on.

        1. I’m going to ignore the little shits from now on. Even if the kid is being a little prick, adults aren’t supposed to get into it with them. Everyone is going to side with the kid, especially in this Modern Clownworld.

You know what, though? When I was growing up, everyone would have sided with the man against the little shit and the grandma would have chewed out the little shit something awful.

And I think in a lot of countries, people would side with the man. Kids are supposed to respect adults and if they don’t, it’s a serious violation. Kids who disrespect adults, especially older adults, get really blasted. Also a lot of cultures demand more respect for the adult as they advance in years. I’m getting up there, so this might be seen as “disrespecting an elder.”

I don’t think America cares about this anymore. Between a kid and an adult man, we take the side of the little shit and say the man’s a weirdo, molester, harasser, assaulter, rapist killer. All adult men are. And kids, especially little girls, are as pure as the driven snow.

No one seems to believe in respecting their elders anymore. We seem to have gotten away from that entirely. I know people certainly don’t go out of their way to treat me with extra respect due to my age. When I was young and in a lot of countries, there would be automatic deference to me due to age alone.

  2. The parents and store likely overreacted. The girl likely played innocent. Handle with kid gloves. I can see how an adult stranger giving it back to a child is seen as off his rocker, especially if you seemed pissed. I’ll stick my tongue out at a young brat that’s doing the same.

Perhaps they could tell you were pissed, getting verbal might make it more obvious. They may have red-flagged you for fear you might do worse ie. fight her. She may have just learned to thumbs down and thought it was a game. Can’t take 5 year olds too serious.

Scary guys. My father’s told he looks like a prisoner. I scare people if I surprise someone coming around the corner. Strong grown men are more intimidating than tiny little tots.

    1. She may have just learned to thumbs down and thought it was a game.

No, she was pouting and looking at me contemptuously when she did it.

Perhaps they could tell you were pissed, getting verbal might make it more obvious. They may have red-flagged you for fear you might do worse ie. fight her.

Probably. Apparently the word around the store now is that I’m some dangerous psycho. I’ve been going there for years with no problems at all. They’re always saying this about us men. “I think he’s a psycho!” Can’t tell you how many times people have said and done things like that to me. If you met me, you might think I’m the most un-psycho man you’ve ever met. I’m very quiet and have a soft voice, and frankly, I’m rather shy. My whole life though, almost no one ever understands me. I’m always being accused of things that I’m not.

The security guy told me it was due to my behavior with customers and employees. I’ve gone there for years and never had the slightest problem with any employee. He seemed taken aback. I guess he got told otherwise. I told him the little shit was making thumbs down signs at me so I did one right back to her. She looked shocked again, like, “Is that all you did?”

    2. I can see how an adult stranger giving it back to a child is seen as off his rocker, especially if you seemed pissed.

Why? You insult me, I’ll insult you right back. I don’t care how old you are. Why would someone like that seem crazy?

      1. Imagine gentle and simple Lenny from Of Mice and Men getting bit by a rabbit and biting the rabbit back. You’re like a giant lion to a cub, and no one at the store knows you’re intelligent, non-violent, etc. They just heard you roar.

She could be a child of the corn with a field full of Polish clown bodies. Most will just see an innocent child.

    3. Scary guys. My father’s told he looks like a prisoner. I scare people if I surprise someone coming around the corner. Strong grown men are more intimidating than tiny little tots.

He’s told that he looks like a convict or a prison inmate.

I’ve been told that I look pretty scary. Not sure exactly why that is, but I have “Mess with me and you die” attitude about me. And in that sense, I am definitely dangerous! But as far as innocent people go, I’m not. Once people get to know me really well, they would probably laugh if someone said I was a dangerous psycho. They’d laugh so hard it would be difficult to get them to stop. But there are not that many people who know me well.

Apparently I grow on people. It seems like a lot of people definitely don’t like me very much when they first meet me, but after they see me on a regular basis for a while, all of a sudden I’m their best friend. I guess they see past the scary image and figure out what I’m really like.

    4. What would be the odds in Vegas going 12 rounds with a 5 year old? The over/under in rounds? Would Vegas take bets on the fight? Who would be favored?

  3. Likely age and gender discrimination. Little girl + older man interactions are frowned upon in modern Western society even if they’re brief and completely nonsexual. If I saw this whole thing go down I would’ve laughed and went on my way.

Feminist rape/pedo hysteria is a societal pox.

    1. Feminist rape/pedo hysteria is a societal pox.

Thanks Malik. I think that’s why she was giving me the thumbs down. She probably got brainwashed about stranger danger.

  4. How can you be banned from an establishment? I mean do they have a pic of you in the back somewhere? Can’t you wear a disguise? We are wearing face masks as it is…

    1. I don’t know. I was wearing a mask when it happened and I was wearing one when I came back, so I guess they can tell it’s me.

  5. You shouldn’t allow a 5 year old to get to you. On the other hand, though, I could understand kids around 10 years or older of age getting to you. Nonetheless, they should be ignored too. Well, you had experience in the inner city with some types who could push buttons.

Seriously, though, kids at 5 cannot push buttons. I don’t really get it.

    1. The little bitch pissed me off. Little girls never do that to me. They never react to me unkindly at all, ever. This was first time. Pissed me off.

Understand that I am the “I don’t take shit from anyone” type. Or “You fuck with me and I’ll slit your throat” type.

On the other hand, I learned my lesson. I won’t let little kids get to me anymore. I will iggy them.
