Anybody Getting Their Comments Eaten?

We just upgraded to the new version of WordPress, and we are having some issues. Comments by regular commenters are being sent to spam even though their names or IP numbers are not blocked. I click “Not Spam” on the comment, and it is supposed to restore it, but it recently ate a spam comment by a regular commenter that I unspammed. If any of you are having issues with the site eating your comments, let me know in this post.

  1. I did. I was trying to tell you how my religion teacher at my catholic high school accidentally sparked my interest in the Sex Pistols, but it got marked as spam.

    1. Yeah I went and fished it out of spam and clicked restore on it and it didn’t restore your comment. I was pissed! Real sorry about that. I didn’t read the comment much, but it sounded pretty cool. You can write it again if you wish. This time it’ll make it on, I guarantee.

If you care about such things, maybe make a copy of your comment in Notepad until it gets published.

    2. We installed a new spam filter and I suspect that is the culprit. We’ve got like three spam filters at once working here. I uninstalled the new spam filter. Let’s see if that fixes the problem.

  2. Two of my cousin’s are married to guys who saw bands like the Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, Reagan Youth, etc in the 80’s when I was way too young. I became curious about them because of my religion teacher ironically enough (I went to a catholic high school). There was something about him that grated on me. When we had a lesson on the evils of contemporary music, he would go on about how evil the Sex Pistols were (The Pistols broke up in 1978 and he was talking about them in 1989. Way to stay current, He also thought “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd was the most evil song ever and he hated Ozzy). If anything he made me even more interested in the subject (I was really into Guns ‘n’ Roses at the time). I went to my cousin’s husband and asked him about The Pistols. He played Anarchy in the UK for me; then played the following:
*Let Them Eat Jellybeans (A 1982 Comp with Punk bands on one side and Art rock bands on the other)
*Flex Your Head (a 1982 Comp of bands from the Washington DC area)
*Dead Kennedys: In God We Trust Inc EP
*Circle Jerks: Wild in the Streets
…and I was blown away. My interest in heavier stuff was pretty solidified by that point and it’s all thanks to my religion teacher.
