Just a few days ago, we got reports out of a variety of places that Iran had assassinated a high ranking Mossad officer right in the middle of Tel Aviv at 9:30 PM on a Saturday night. The team entered Israel undetected a week before. How did they get in? They stayed in safe houses that have been there forever and yet have never been discovered. A team of a significant number of men with automatic weapons popped out of nowhere and sprayed his car with bullets. Then they seemed to vanish into thin air. Apparently they have not yet been caught.
Israel immediately denied the story, saying it had been a dispute between two neighbors. Except that Mossad and the Israeli military were on the scene even before the police were! By the time the cops got there, the scene was swarming with Mossad and IDF. You sure that was just some neighbor dispute? The original report came not just out of Iran but out of several other countries as well. In addition, several sources inside Israel have now confirmed that the Mossad officer was indeed assassinated.
Iran vowed to get even for Israel assassinating their nuclear scientist. There is speculation about the weapon that was used in the attack, with the Iranian government saying a remote-controlled machine gun mounted in a car and controlled by a satellite was used and the victim’s son and mother saying this was not true, that a team of assassins was used instead.
