Spot the Language 29

Just forget about this one too. You’re not getting it. Just tell us where this is spoken –  the general region is just fine. If you know something about linguistics, you might get a hint in the prenasalized vowels which are often found in languages in this region. The language has only 10,000 speakers, but it is still doing quite well anyway as the country where it is spoken is quite undeveloped.

The language family that this language is a member is quite famous, and a number of well-known world languages are a member of this family. This family has actually been reconstructed, and incredibly enough, this family is up to 13-15,000 years old, which is beyond the so-called 8,000 year barrier beyond which no reconstruction is possible. However, reconstructing the numerals has been very difficult, similar to Turkic.

One of these languages is the official language of a nation. It is written with its own special script not used by any other language. It is associated with a major world non-Christian religion.

Another one is the official language of many nations, although it contains up to 35 major dialects, many of which are actually separate languages. Nevertheless, there is a standard written form taught in school that most educated people know so conversations with those who speak different languages in this group is possible.

This is another language that is written one way and spoken another. This language also has its own script which is used for this language. It also forms the base of a script for some other languages. All of these nations are associated with another  large non-Christian religion.

Both of these scripts leave out vowels for some reason and words are formed mostly on the basis of triconsonantal roots.

However, if you are familiar with the other languages of this group, this language doesn’t look much like them.

It seems odd to have a language from this family in this location, but when we learn that these people may have been brought here but invaders from the North, it makes more sense as these languages are spoken to the north and northeast of this language for the most part. One of these languages is even spoken in Europe!
