This was back in the time when Blacks were starting to become cool with Whites. It was the dawn of Fresh Prince. However, in my suburban area lots of middle-school Alphas would love to mock groups like this, mostly because of racism. For instance, they would mock the song and go “Riiicooo Suuaave.”
Anyway, these groups did come across as unauthentic and goofy in the day. It was nothing compared to what Eminem pulled off by finally making non-Black rap something that’s not a joke.
