Alt Left: The World Runs on Logical Fallacies

The vast majority of people use logical fallacies every day, all day long. The world runs on logical fallacy and illogical thinking. It’s part of the fuel that runs human civilizations.

People have lazy brains. They don’t want to think too hard. Most logical fallacies are caused by “short-cut” thinking. You get to the answer of an unpleasant question very quickly without having to do a lot of painful thinking.

Most people are not like me. I love to think. I live to think. To most people, deep thinking is a pain in the ass. It causes confusion and anxiety. I love being unsure of things. Most people hate being uncertain about things. It causes anxiety and makes the world seem like a scary place. So they decide one way or the other on most important questions that are thrown at them – “Right, wrong, or indifferent, this is how I feel, and I’m not changing my mind.”

I have noticed that people are extremely resistant to changing their mind once they decide that some particular thing happened in some particular way. I have thrown mountains of evidence at people to convince them that what they believe is wrong, and I got nothing but a stonewall and typical a belligerent yelling, screaming stonewall at that. Telling people they are full of shit really sets them off.

The excuses roll off the tongue.

“They’re lying…he’s lying…she’s lying…they made it up…they faked it…it’s a bad source…I only believe the media or the government…that’s conspiracy theory…that’s just one person’s view…show me the evidence…”

Once people get set on a fixed idea of reality, it’s virtually impossible to get them to change their minds. Part of it is just pride, ego. No one wants to admit that they were wrong. In particular, no one wants to admit that they were taken in like suckers in a big fat lie. People will defend the most nonsensical ideas if it means that they can avoid saying that they were dumb enough to get conned.

I blame it on our present education system which encourages rote learning instead of creativity and original thinking.

Most students are in college to party and only do the bare minimum to score an average grade. Some company will hire their entitled ass because you know, it’s been promised to them by their guidance counselors. They don’t go beyond their textbooks to complete assignment. In an age of Internet, there is no excuse to confine your ideas to what the professor says.

These drones are guided toward one of the STEM fields by overzealous counselors. As a result, the Humanities suffer very poor quality students who don’t learn shit. Across right-wing countries like India, Philippines, Middle-East, STEM fields are encouraged at the expense of humanities because the government just don’t need another generation of independent thinkers.

We are living in Orwellian times. The idiocracy is all around us. We just pretend things are normal.

Your type is a dying breed. We’ll take over the human race in another generation of two.

If you were born in Iran or Saudi Arabia, they’d have you executed before you came of age.

If you were born in China, they’d have sent you to a “reeducation camp”.

If you were born in most other countries, you’d be behind the bars for some bullshit defamation case.

Even in the European Union, you’d be put in the category of dangerous anarchist, and the government would keep a close eye on your activities.

Well, you do have freedom of expression in USA for now. Make the best of it while it lasts. It should at least in your lifetime.

  3. In Europe they simply would call people who have the tendency to think deep and outside the box lunatics. For must humans truth doesn’t exist, and most of their conclusions are built on their worldview and wishful thinking. When it comes to evidence…even if you show them genuine and proven facts (which would threaten their emotional well-being), they will still refuse to accept it.

From what I observed the majority of humans don’t think logically but emotionally, which means they only believe in things that make them feel safe and in control. Maybe you can see why media (who are well aware of this fact) has found in human populations an easy prey.
