Good Quote

@Robert Lindsay wouldn’t agree with his economics, but you gotta give him credit for this quote:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Gutfeld

I became a conservative by being around liberals (at UC Berkeley) and I became a libertarian by being around conservatives. You realize that there’s something distinctly in common between the two groups, the left and the right; the worst part of each of them is the moralizing.

  1. If someone goes from liberalism to conservatism and then from conservatism to libertarianism, he goes from bad to worse to worst. Libertarianism is the political creed according to which a landlord should be able to tell his tenant on the 24th of December that he should be out of his apartment within 24 hours. Libertarians believe in the freedom to sell cocaine to 12-year-olds.

Libertarians are monomaniacs who have only one principle: the principle of freedom, or non-aggression as they sometimes call it. Libertarianism means handing over the country to the business class, to people like the Koch brothers. The fact that Libertarians nowhere get more than 5% of the vote is proof that voters are not as foolish as some claim them to be.

  2. I become a social conservative by being around liberals. I become a liberal by being around conservatives. Then I realized I was a “conservative liberal” or Alt Left.

  3. One way to oppose the moralfags is not to become Libertarian, which is actually worse than either conservatism or liberalism by a long shot, but by being Alternative Left or Alt Left. The Alt Left is the only group on the Left that opposes the mass infestation of the Left with neo-Puritanism, sex hatred, Victorianism, sanctimoniousness, church ladies, and moralfags in general. If you’re Left but you believe in serious freedom with justice, think about whether the Alt Left is for you.

  4. I have been an Alt-Leftist for a while. An Alt-Leftists is simply an old-fashioned Leftist without the excesses of political correctness.

It is someone who is a Leftist but who refuses to believe that:

Mass immigration is good for the masses.

      Diversity is a blessing.

      Races are equal.

Race and gender are only social constructs.

      Homosexuality is normal.

      Transsexuals are quite sane.

There are no cognitive or temperamental differences between men and women on average.

History is the record of the crimes and follies of White Gentiles.

      Complaining minorities are always right.

Men are always the oppressors and women their eternal victims.

      Nationalism is always wrong.

The problem with people who have these views – whatever political camp they come from – is, though it sound cheesy and corny – is the absence of love. Now while I might agree with this stuff to a large degree – I don’t totally agree – and even the controversial stuff has to made into something constructive – but with “a-moral assholes” it’s normally just a tool to bitch.

Now as for nationalism, leftists of the traditional variety are not opposed to it -when it comes to Communist struggles in Cuba, China etc… In fact, the wars fought by the US in East Asia, post-World War II – are nationalist wars.

The problem of people having which views? Supporting the things on the list or opposing them?

The problem nowadays is that the people opposing the views above are mostly conservative assholes, who, frankly do lack empathy.

        1. Benevolence and realism are perfectly compatible. In fact, without realism, benevolence could be quite useless. A doctor must not only be benevolent toward his patients, but also judge their health realistically. If a patient is terminally ill, his doctor should tell him that, and not give him false hopes.

Suppose that a man has 2 daughters, one very pretty and the other quite ugly. He will not serve anybody’s interest if he says to his ugly daughter: “To me, you are both very beautiful.” Instead, he should say to her: “You are not as pretty as your sister. That is unfair, but life sometimes is unfair. Whatever your looks, I love you both very much.”

If women are on average less talented in math than men, as they undoubtedly are, we should not believe otherwise and futilely endeavor to get more women in STEM programs.

To quote Bertrand Russell: “The best morality is the one which is enlightened by facts and motivated by love.” In other words, a combination of realism and benevolence.

          1. Beauty is more subjective than alt-right people say. They’re just sadists who enjoy hurting others. It could be some kind of projection – as they might be nerds, themselves (OUCH).

Now, intelligence, however, is something not subjective at all. But myself, I’m not offended if someone says Einstein is smarter than I am.

          2. Not picking on @James Shipper – but seriously, a lot of these alt-right types are nerds, maybe autistic; they have a robot mentality of basically “no empathy”.

But I’m guessing a lot of people picked on THEM, so this is projection, a way of dealing with that trauma.

            But I don’t know @James Shipper personally.
