Almost every single thing you read in the US or Western media about North Korea is straight up fake news. That’s not to say that everything is peachy and rosy in the Hermit Kingdom. The treatment of political prisoners in North Korea is atrocious.
But I will give North Korea one thing – they have locked down that state how hard that almost no enemies can get in. The CIA has admitted that it can’t get any spies into North Korea. Any spies that the CIA gets in or sets up get arrested and executed almost immediately. The price you pay for a locked-down state is massive human rights abuses, I suppose.
Just about everything about North Korea’s nuclear program is a big fat lie – almost nothing you read about it in the West is true.
Recently there have been a lot of articles about North Korea has a missile that can hit the mainland US. These articles have come with the usual fearmongering about how North Korea wants to launch an aggressive attack on the US mainland for absolutely no reason whatsoever, except I guess for the fact that North Korea is simply stone evil.
I assure you that North Korea has absolutely no intention whatsoever of launching an unprovoked attack on the US. That would be the end of North Korea as we know it. The regime knows this as well as anyone, and they want to survive just as anyone does.
Their nuclear program is strictly defensive, and why not? We have been threatening them with nuclear weapons since even before the Korean War even ended when MacArthur’s plan to nuke North Korea and China was narrowly overruled by the US government. According to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, any nation being threatened with nuclear weapons has a right to develop its own nuclear weapons as a deterrent. So North Korea isn’t even violating the NPT.
Although North Korea has fired a missile that has a long enough range to hit the West Coast of the US, that not the whole story. The truth is that that missile has the range to hit the US, but that does not mean it can hit the US.
Actually, North Korea does not have the re-entry down on its nuclear missiles. I do not completely understand it but the re-entry is a phase of a nuclear missile launch that is very hard to get down.
It has a number of specific problems that must be overcome, and North Korea has not overcome these problems at all. If you don’t get the re-entry correct, the missile just burns up in space before it lands. And North Korea has definitely not got the re-entry module down at all yet. Experts say it will not get the re-entry down until 2021 or 2022 in two or three years at the very earliest.
So, no, North Korea cannot hit the Western US coast with a nuclear missile, not yet anyway. And the entire US media that is telling you that North Korea can hit the Western US coast with a nuclear missile is lying, as usual.
