What Would Happen in a US Invasion of North Korea?

Otherwise known as the We Can Kick North Korea’s Ass in a Day or Two bullshit.
I would not get your hopes up about invading North Korea. I hear their equipment is better than you think and furthermore they have four million many under arms, with many of the rest in citizen militias. The army is well fed and well trained. North Korea has been preparing for an invasion for decades and it seems like half the military infrastructure is underground.
There is a huge arsenal of artillery pointed at South Korea and if we ever attack them for any reason, they will turn those guns on and the first fifty miles south of the DMZ will be pretty much leveled faster than you can blink your eyes. The artillery is not that easy to take out and as most it is actually underground in tunnels in mountains. the artillery actually pops out of the tunnels in the sides of the mountains, fires away and then retreats back into the tunnel while the tunnel closes behind it.
If we do invade with a ground army, I would worry about that too. North Koreans are some of the most brainwashed people on Earth and most of them have a fanatical hatred of the US. I am convinced that much of the army and even a lot of the militia would fight to the death. It would be very, very ugly and we might lose a lot of men. I have seen estimates of up to US 30,000 dead from an invasion of North Korea.
The war might go nuclear pretty fast not because the North Koreans would shoot nukes but more because we might. Contrary to popular MSM lie, North Korea does not have a usable nuclear weapon.

  1. Jobless, poor, idle young men have nothing to do but fight people of a different color who are in their location.
“We Air Strike Them”. I think Americans found out how that does not work very well in Iraq and Afghanistan after 15 years.
The US can afford another war?

As I stated in another thread there is simply no way the US will attack North Korea without severe provocation (Basically North Korea striking first and killing thousands) as it would entail engagement with China.

    1. I keep hoping eventually China will get tired of their bullshit, their constant provocations of the rest of the world, and finally give up their protege to punishment.
Basically back off and tell America and the rest of the world, “You guys punish them, we don’t want to”

Very doubtful that the Chinese would ever willingly allow the US to attack North Korea – They simply do not want US troops on their border. Although North Korea is China’s red headed stepchild, it is still their stepchild. Let the Chinese and South Korea deal with North Korea. We’ve spilled enough US blood and lucre at the bidding of others by basically being Saudi Arabia’s, Kuwait’s, Japan’s and to some extent Western Europe’s mercenary army for the past few decades. Fuck it, game over.

    2. Can the U.S. afford another war since the last major war resulted in the pleasant situation we have in Syria, Iraq today?
Millions of Korean refugees flowing into China, Japan, South Korea?

  3. Imagine that the U.S. had not gone to war in Iraq. Oh, there would have been a financial meltdown anyhow but gas prices would have been lower.
War with Korea. Gee, that would be affordable in a country now cash-strapped and stripped of its triple-AAA rating.
Really, Republicans are stupid. Few of them travel and have little idea of what their kids from Deer Knock, North Dakota will experience on the frozen wastes of a bleak peninsula where nobody gives two rat’s asses about an archaic system of Greek philosophy known as democracy.
    STUPID, STUPID, STUPID

  4. United States attacking North Korea is indeed a very fictional event. Mostly because China wouldn’t allow that.
But still, Robert, I think you overestimate the resistance of the North Koreans in the possible conflict. The more dictatorial is the leadership of the country, the lesser is the will of people to defend the country. Just remember before the Iraq war, how newspapers wrote that Saddam Hussein has got his guard and elite soldier and devoted army or what. In the end, nobody fought. I doubt that North Koreans would fight very much.
More probable is that they would let Americans overrun the country and after that they would start pushing on Americans to leave as early as possible. In the end they would strive together with South Koreans to push Americans out of the Korean peninsula. Korean nationalism would work here. South Koreans would stop being that big friends with Americans and they would strive to unite Korea and push Americans gradually out.
It’s like Saudi Arabia. If it got invaded by let’s say Americans, nobody would defend the regime. Americans would overrun the country and if they would be smart enough, they would leave the country very soon. The thing is that the North Korean regiome is not with the people. People would defend Russia, China and even Iran and Syria, because the regimes there do something for its people. Saudi Arabia and North Korea don’t, Azerbaijan also doesn’t do very much, the ruling family takes too much wealth, which is also the case of Saudi Arabia and North Korea.

  5. North Korea offers the world nothing. No oil, no resources, no geo-strategic importance. Nothing. Zero + nada.
What then would justify an invasion that possibly resulted in the detonation of a nuclear weapon?
