The War on Poverty Was Not a Failure

Jason Y: Sorry to be so in your face and frank, but why do you think the War on Poverty failed from an Alt Left viewpoint?

I do not think it failed in the first place and the Alt Left does not think it failed. The Alt Left supports the War on Poverty. In this way, we utterly reject the Alt Right which wants to wipe all those gains out. How well did the War on Poverty work? I guess I would channel Deng and say, “It’s too soon to tell.” But of course I supported the War on Poverty and I do not believe that it failed, at least not for the same reasons that the Right does. It worked great at least for a time, and we have a ton of evidence to prove it. They started Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8 housing, I think food stamps, all that stuff goes back to the War on Poverty. Of course the DNC wants to get rid of all of that. The Civil Rights Act went right along with it along with the now overthrown Voting Rights Act. The Housing Rights Act came later. The EPA was created around this time as was HUD. It was a great thing, but they started to defund it after a while. In other words, they surrendered in the War on Poverty and quit funding it. And then to some extent things headed back in the direction that they were before.

Most conservatives and alt-right people claim it failed because it spoiled ungrateful NAMS, not because they quit funding it. How would you respond?

      1. I went thru the desert on a blog post with no name. It felt good to be out of the rain. 😆
Some albums had no name, like the band did it on purpose to be different.

  2. Supposedly the money wasted on foreign nations is supposed to come back as Wall Street gold mines. Have we seen any of it come back to benefit ordinary Americans via jobs, supposedly coming after Wall Street has milked the goldmine?

    1. Americans are the consumer, not the producer. Because all of these goods are produced in developing countries the consumer has little money.
The knowledge-based economy is strictly 100 IQ above and even this is narrowing down.
No money for college? Factory worker? Forget it you’ll never have the money to be a consumer because America no longer produces anything.
      America is a service-sector economy.

  3. It’s hard to purchase goods on a service-sector salary which is why the consumer economy is going downhill now that everything is produced somewhere else.
“Knowledge-based economy” is code for a great many people on welfare.

    1. I’m sure those who have a lot of knowledge like doctors are heavily resented by fast food workers etc… However, knowledge can only be something like enough brains to do a radiology assistant job. That job pays only average, but is liveable money, Considering the demand for health related professions, it’s heavily in demand.
However, the joe six pack world of Joe Walsh has gone the way of the dinosaurs. More than likely such guys would have to wait tables etc.. for a new line of work, or maybe get into working on cars.

      1. Possibly nepotism would cause massive resentment. in your local town, since all factory jobs are gone, you might only have so many jobs, say working on power lines or for the utilities company.
In that case, good old boys with family connections would take all of the limited jobs, leaving the rest of the anti-school crowd (those who don’t want to study academic stuff) to work fast food or Wal Mart.

        1. With cost of living it would seem that working at Wal-Mart or Taco Bell would leave the average person penniless.
Even if you had a college education and say, a law degree, how much work would there be in a town or district where people earn minimum wage because of “limited jobs”?
What an earth would keep anyone with any sort of skill or trade in a town like that?

        2. I love the south and it’s culture, but in many ways, as you said, it’s become a place where your either make a lot of money or you don’t make any. However, I think much of America outside the south isn’t any different.

I don’t know. Possibly a degree in criminal justice etc… could land you a job working with the downtrodden people who end up on drugs and go to jail or prison, or are on parole. Gosh, how terrible. Sad face.
I think Michael Moore said something like that on one of his movies. He shows how all the houses were foreclosed in Flint Michigan, and then the only jobs available for the peasants in the town is to be bill collectors.

        4. Also, in this downtrodden economy you can escape your peasant status, and prove to the roughnecks back home your not a wuss, by joining the military of the very imperalistic machine that is oppressing you. LOL
I guess that would be the modern day equivelent of being a knight in some hell-hole banana republic medevil European village.

      2. The problem is that the average 35 year old today who was born in 1980 and was BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD during the prosperous 1990’s was unable just how bad the economy for Americans would be in 2015.

        1. Your saying more factory jobs existed in the 90s? I don’t think it was any different.
Actually an electrician could make a lot of money in those days, and even today. I know one, but he became disabled, so now, considering he has no advanced education, he basically lives off welfare.

  4. JASON’S QUESTION Where the hell are illegals “stealing jobs” if the job-market (Down South I presume or in the interior of the country) is so terrible that grown adults are reduced to bagging groceries at Wal-Mart.
Additionally, how would such wages support anybody? This is just unimaginable. Four kids.

    1. All sorts of poor white families, and of other races, are reduced living off minimum wage jobs with 4 kids. But of course your a_hole WN will say they should have fewer kids, especially if they’re a NAM.

      1. Most people that have 4 kids fairly young are not that well-educated and did not have wealthy parents.
I cannot imagine supporting one child on such a salary.

      1. Medieval hell-hole European village where everyone leaves who can leave. Of course then you end up the way the ragged and desperate did in London.

  5. I’ve worked for minimum wage in college and for a time after college: it seems difficult to make ends meet for a single male.

  6. It’s not surprising that many poor people are forced to sell drugs or receive stolen property or rent their body on the side to make ends meet.
    $8.25 an hour.
    That’s sick, isn’t it?

  7. PEASANT used to be a dirty word in American back when Europeans were first coming here to the land of equality and dignity-it was associated with the “Old World”.
Now we have recreated a Feudal Society where the masses outside the gates and moats teethe in squalor while those in gated communities enjoy life.

    1. But Ted Nugent would say those sissy-boys don’t know how to hunt and fish, lol That will supplement a fast food income. Oh, and don’t eat the fast food. It’s unhealthy not like what Ted shoots.

      1. If you would just start smiling and laughing quit being such a PUS… then money would just come to you like the sunshine. Ain’t that right Ted?

  8. “4 Kids” A French poet once noted that the “poor sleep together”…not much else to do for fun if you have no money, no diversions, no ability to travel.
What else are you going to do for entertainment?

      1. I am saying that sex is really the greatest past-time the poor have and also in their own communities a man is somewhat measured by a “strong penis”.
No travel, no toys, no luxuries. What else is there to do?
