This is an older post that is getting posted around a lot now. You guys are very interested in race, ethnicity and the anthropology that goes along with it, so I thought you might like this.
The Uighurs are a mixed Caucasian-Asian Muslim group that live in Xinjiang, China. They have been agitating for independence for some time now. China has responded to these calls by flooding Xinjiang with Han Chinese immigrant invaders who have taken most of the good jobs. In addition, China has downplayed the Uighur language in schools and has forced Uighurs into a pure Mandarin education system. The Uighurs are strangers in their own homeland which is being colonized by imperialist, racist Han Chinese. The Hans go on periodic Nazi-like Kristallnacht style pogroms against the Uighurs, burning down their businesses, beating them, murdering them. The police join in and the Uighurs have nowhere to hide.
Some Uighurs look very White. Some White Uighurs are below:
First, a red haired Uighur.
Next, we have a Slavic appearing Uighur.
Next, a very White looking Uighur woman. The phenotype is very exotic, and the only thing I have seen close to this is from the Kalash of northwest Pakistan.
Most Uighur women look more Asiatic like these women, although the woman on the far right looks rather exotic and somewhat resembles the beauty above in phenotype. Note the tall, thin angular nose on both women.

Seems like a situation similar to the outnumbered whites in South Africa.
Indo-European Tocharians lived in Uyghur lands.
Tocharians lived in WHAT IS NOW uighur homeland.
The original homeland of what is referred to as “uighurs” was in present day western Mongolia. The uighurs began to migrate into their present “homeland” around the 700-800s and assimilated with the existing Iranian-speaking peoples of the Tarim basin and eventually the turkic uighur language overtook the Iranian language of the Tarim basin.
Also the turkic speaking peoples that migrated from present Northern Xinjiang/western Mongolia did NOT refer to themselves as “uighurs”. Rather it was the Russians that applied the name collectively to the turkic-speaking peoples in the Tarim Basin and thus the name came to be used.
Tocharian language wasn’t indo-Iranian but unique in the Indo-European family with some similarities to the Anatolian family.

There were a number of Buddhist Kingdoms there & no small amount of people from North India & the Iranian plateau as well as Tibet would have migrated there.
Han emperor supported Mongol Turks in destroying it in 8th c Samvat & later on allowed it to be islamized as a buffer.
Manchurian Chinese in the North are Eurasians from the Russian steppes. This is a scientific fact and one need only look at them to see the Soviet admixture-a great many aspects of their culture such as vodka and food reflect this.
For my money the most Caucasian people in China are Manchurian.
I have just seen this post after I posted a Uighur related comment under the Han – black people article. Actually I do not think that Han people do the pogroms, it is rather the other way round, as you would expect. Pogroms are mostly done by the economical less successful. After each of these riots in the last years there were more dead Han people than Uighur people as far as I know.
The problem with uighur people is that they have taken in the idea of global muslim expansion, which means: former non muslim countries need to get muslim, former muslim countries with non-muslim minority need to get 100 % muslim. It´s the same like in Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Birma, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Somalia, Kenia, Russia, Germany, UK, France etc. etc.
Has this agitated the Islamic world at all?
Yes.
They are Uygur Turks, utterly Turkish. I wrote you before under the topic of ‘white turks’, that you will find these typology anywhere you go in kipchak – cuman land which is between china and europe (i.e. altai – ural mountains) as turkish heritage still rule there – partially in regions where mongolian type is dominant.
Btw, there is no such thing as ‘mongol turks’. Mongols are mongols and Turks are turks.
And yes, Uygur turks are systematically being massacred there, and Turkey is systematically accepting many of them, despite the current horrific non-turkic disposition there
