  1. Dear Robert
You have a lot of Latin American countries in there. In some cases, American intervention was a necessary condition for the success of regime change, such as in Guatemala in 1954, but it some other cases the regime change would have taken place even without American intervention. That was the case in Brazil in 1964 and in Chile in 1973. The governments of Goulart and Allende were overthrown because almost the entire elite wanted them overthrown.
For Chile, you put 1964 – 1973. Why did you include the years 1964 – 1970?
The US also tried to prevent the reelection of Juan Perón in 1951. This backfired because it allowed Perón to play the nationalist card. He used the slogan “Perón o Brady”, the name of the American ambassador.
    Regards. James

  2. I you ask an average American, they don’t know or care about these statistics. They don’t even think the US is an empire. If they did know, perhaps they think the overthrown governments were evil.

    1. The Whitlam dismissal, Prime Minister Whitlam was removed from office by the Governor General, the Queen’s representative. Whitlam is rumored to have been removed due to CIA and ASIO (the Australian intelligence agency) due suspected communist influence, removing Aussie troops from Vietnam, nationalizing universities, ending the white Australia policy and trying to shut down a “joint” military base, Pine Gap. France would be the Algerian war and its aftermath.

  3. You forget to mention France in 1968, when the Trotzkyte ultra-leftist method succeeded in ousting De Gaulle where the more traditional conservative or neo-liberal had failed. The French society was submitted to a top-notch moral destabilization programme under the red thuggish leadership of Daniel Cohn-Bendit and many others who all veered rapidly right thereafter to libertarian capitalism (one theme he kept running from 1968 up to now without change, though, was his top priority will to decriminalize paedophilia as being the hallmark of a philosophically superior society, as was ancient Athens according to him). When de Gaulle saw his beloved country being transformed from day to day into a kind of Haiti as by forces of a sophistication he had never dared to imagine coming from all horizons, when he also realized that three Frenchmen out of four, both conservative and left-wing, were regretting not to have been born in America, so deep-reaching had been the propaganda since the Marshall plan, he just gave up tending that flock of calves as he called them, and installed his prime minister Pompidou to proceed to a stepwise relinquishment of all French sovereignty in exchange for the prosperity of a last generation.

  4. Cheers Robert! This list also neglects perhaps the most apposite of all pernicious and misguided emperical adventures, to wit: The overthrow of the American participatory democracy, shall we say 1984–ongoing . . ? Cheers!

    1. Probably. We don’t even really have a democracy. We for sure don’t have a free press. People who lived in the USSR say that the US press lies more and is more biased that Pravda and Isvetia in the Soviet Era. When the Soviet press is freer than yours, you know you are sucking pretty bad.
Also we rewrite history as it is happening and in many cases long after the event has taken place. There are whole Wikipedia entries about various subjects that are completely untrue. They are the CIA Lie Version of that event, not what really happened at all.

      1. All true. But until 1985-88 there was the veneer — however vitreous — that voters had at least a smidge of muscle, influence if you will, that was capable of impacting the national discussion. As for the American corporate, lap-dog media, the less said the better . . . Cheers!

      2. Cheers Nom! The Democratic Party sold their soul on Nov. 27th, 1984. This was the day when the money-men (not a typo, there were no women) of the DP informed the rank and file that if they didn’t want to keep getting buggered on election day — this was a mere three weeks after Mondale’s electoral drubbing — and wanted some of that cash that was being Dole-d out to the Republicans in heaping great wads, then they had to ‘moderate’ their message. The Democrats have since been ‘moderating’ to the point where they are now little more than closet Republicans . . . In ’87, if memory serves, Raygun, with ample contrivance from the Democrats succeeded in garrotting the Fairness Doctrine, a crime that has led, as Robert alluded to above, to a national media quite possibly more lacking in integrity and any meaningful investigative sense than anything in the former Soviet Union or the Warsaw Pact countries. Cheers!

        1. Are you talking about the DNC Democrats, the Democratic National Committee? Yes they took over around 1984-1990. There has been a World War in the party ever since. The Democratic base though really is the left wing of the Democratic Party. Daily Kos is a classic website of the Democratic Party’s base, but it’s run by insiders.
The Republican base is the Tea Party. While the Republicans fear their base, I am convinced that the DNC types like Obama and Rahm Emanuel actively hate their base. Remember Emaneul’s comments about the Base? He called them “the professional Left” and “those fucking hippies.” They hold us in contempt.
What is truly bizarre is that while Democrats are not even hiding the fact that they are Republicans anymore, the Right keeps moving the Overton Window further to the right. Known as moving the goalposts. The Democrats keep chasing the Republicans to the right. And the Republican Base thinks these DINO’s are Communists of all things!

        2. Interesting. I don’t doubt the Dems for moving right, then. Liberalism was untentable by that point for a number of reasons. We needed Clinton, and as centrist as he was, he was still barely able to keep the Congress from pulling a mutiny the way the Republicans have. The problem was not the DNC. It was the election of 2000. That’s not the Dems fault. We were suppose to get the White House and go from a centrist President to a center-left President.
Conservative types have always succeeded in wrestling power away from the liberals and centrists. It started with Robert E. Hannegan. No one knows who the hell he is, but he’s more responsible than anyone for changing history for the worse. He alone manipulated FDR to make it remotely possible for Henry Wallace to not be renominated as VP in 1944. If Wallace and not Truman had become President, history would’ve been really fucking different.

        3. Correction: “We needed Clinton, and as centrist as he was, he was still barely able to keep the Congress from pulling a mutiny the way the Republicans have WITH OBAMA.”

      1. It was also the year that representative democracy became obsolete because our currency became controlled by a central authority which has done none of the things it promised to do if we passed the legislation creating s Central Bank; The Federal Reserve.
It was claimed that the Fed would be used to lend money into the broad economy for the lower classes and only in times of recession to allow for those Americans to rise out of poverty forever and have access to cheap credit and capital to pursue their dreams.
In fact, members of Congress boldly claimed that poverty would be eliminated within a generation.
        Now, money controls politics.
        Money picks the candidates.
        Money writes the legislation.
        Money rules the nation.
Money, taxpayers are forced to pay for in inflation but are not allowed to benefit from unless Wall Street turns some aspect of the economy into a temporary casino which over time costs more than it’s gain for the majority.
Democracy means nothing when money makes the decisions for everyone.
