The Taoist Influence on Japanese Martial Arts

By Dota

The Japanese Samurai Miyamoto Musashi acknowledged a number of influences on Japanese thought, chief among which were Confucianism and Buddhism. Yet not once does he directly mention the Old Master whose philosophy is so entrenched in the martial arts that the Samurai once pursued with inexhaustible zeal. Yet despite this seeming negligence, Mushashi’s epic martial arts treatise, “A Book of 5 Rings“, is laden with Taoist ideas and analogies. Indeed the very nature of the Japanese martial arts has been shaped and molded by Taoist thinking.
In the interest of brevity one can sum up Taoist thought as being primarily concerned with conforming to nature by finding “the way.” According to the very first verse of the Tao te Ching (the poem attributed to Lao Tzu): “The Tao (way) that can be described is not the real Tao.” Indeed, Lao Tzu devoted considerable energy into conveying the indescribable nature of the way. One could not describe the way, one merely walked it or one didn’t. Could one verbally instruct another on how to ride a bicycle? One either knew how to or didn’t.
Philosopher Arthur Danto astutely observed that the Taoists had a deep mistrust of prepositional knowledge, or what one would refer to as the discursive intellect. Taoism isn’t concerned with the knowledge of the scholar, but rather, with what we would refer to as “intuitive knowledge.” Those that knew the way were able to execute the perfect brush stroke or carve a pumpkin with exceptional ability.
To further illustrate this point, Chuang Tzu narrates the story of the old wheel maker. The latter approached a King and told him that reading his book was a waste of time. He explained to the King that true knowledge couldn’t be expressed in words but could only be grasped. He illustrated this point by describing his own trade as thus:

The other secret of my trade has to do with the roundness of the wheel. If I chisel away at the wheel too quickly, I may be able to complete the work in a short time, but the wheel won’t be perfectly round. Even though it may look quite acceptable upon casual inspection, in actual usage it will cause excessive shaking of the carriage…In order to create the best wheels possible in a timely manner, I must chisel at just the right speed – not too fast and not too slow. This speed is also guided by a feeling, which again can only be acquired through many years of experience.

He then concluded his lesson with the following observation:

Your Majesty, the ancient sages possessed the feelings that were at the heart of their mastery. Using words, they could set down the mechanics of their mastery in the form of books, but just as it is impossible for me to pass on my experience to anyone else, it is equally impossible for them to transmit their essence of wisdom to you. Their feelings died when they passed away. The only things they left behind were their words. This is why I said Your Majesty was reading the leftovers of a dead man.

Karate is taught via instruction and perfected through rigorous practice. Form, movement, and balance can be learned by executing a sequence of gestures and movements known as Kata. The master guides the student to the way but the student is tasked with walking on it and not deviating from it. In the first Karate Kid film Mr Miyagi scoffs at Daniel Larusso’s attempt to “learn Karate from book.” Musashi similarly stated in his treatise that “Language does not extend to explaining the Way in detail, but it can be grasped intuitively,” (Water Book).
But what is the difference between those men that follow the way and those that don’t? Those that follow the way properly are able to execute actions with minimal effort. But while effort is minimized the outcome of their actions is maximized.
This is known as the principle of WuWei (literally non doing). WuWei is also often understood as carefully calibrated action. Consider for example, a perfectly executed Karate shoulder throw. By using a lunging opponents force against him, one can disable an opponent with a shoulder throw; a move that would ordinarily require considerable effort to execute. Actions become effortless for those that know the way.
Musashi’s duels typically lasted only a few seconds. Consider his duel with Kojiro for example. He charged at his opponent and provoked Kojiro into making the first attack. Musashi effortlessly dodged the attack and decisively struck his opponent on the head killing him in a single blow. Musashi almost echoes Lao Tzu when he urges martial artists to be like water which is gentle yet destructive. It is the principle of WuWei that gives the Japanese martial arts their characteristic finesse that many have come to admire. The ancient masters would be repulsed by the drawn out UFC slug fests and would dismiss these fighters as not truly knowing the way.
The Japanese word for way is michi, which literally refers to a path through the Cosmos. The Way has no destination, and simply finding the way is an end in itself. Since Taoism is primarily concerned with each pursuing his own way, it stands to reason that every one of us is (potentially) a wanderer. The wanderer is also a common motif in Taoist art – he who walks a path without apparent destination.
I must point out that many of Japan’s cherished heroes were wanderers too, such as Musashi and Yagyu Jubei. Both of these individuals refused to hang up their swords and become artisans during the largely peaceful Tokugawa Period of Japanese history. They wandered the countryside (the Samurai had no restrictions on travel) and dueled several opponents that crossed their paths.
Musashi is said to have won 80 duels during his lifetime. So entrenched is the image of the wandering martial artist that it has left its imprint on contemporary Japanese pop culture as well. The characters Ryu and Akuma of the Street Fighter franchise are wanderers pursuing the way of the martial artist. In a statement saturated with Taoist overtones Akuma proclaims: “For some, it is the path, not the goal,” (Street Fighter Alpha 1).
Ultimately, while the spirit of the Japanese martial arts is obviously Japanese, their character is clearly Chinese.

Hamas Shoots RPG at Israeli Soldier in Gaza

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYlMEsBt9sw
From July 21 in Gaza. Apparently there is an IDF soldier in the building behind that window. An RPG is fired at his position. Look what what happens when you as a ground soldier get an RPG shot at you. Not a pretty picture at all. I would not want to have been behind that window. Not sure what sort of an RPG, but I believe Hamas uses RPG-29’s and RPG-32’s. Both are excellent and are made by Russia.

Hamas Hits Merkava Tank in Gaza

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bemnaJmikXQ
This occurred on July 25. I do not have the faintest idea where Mt. Sourani is, nor do I know where “East Apple” is, though I saw many references to both, especially to this district called “apple.” How do you say apple in Arabic? Anyone know?
They say they hit a Merkava tank here. Not sure what they hit it with.

Hamas Hits An Israeli Armored Vehicle with a Kornet in Gaza

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epDd-nibpBA
Hamas scores direct hit on an IDF armored personnel carrier with a Kornet anti-tank gun. This is a superb weapon, not much used because they are hard to get. Very much cutting edge. Hezbollah used these a lot in the recent Lebanon War. I am not sure who makes them. France? Russia? Note it takes a while to hit the target. I think this is actually a “wire-guided missile,” but I am not exactly sure what that means. This vehicle was hit only four days ago on July 29 . Note how long it takes after being fired before it hits the target. I think that may have something to do with this “wire-guided aspect.”

Hamas RPG Attack on Israeli Tank in Gaza

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t207WepemhU

Wow! That is really impressive. I am not sure if it was the tank that got hit or the other armored vehicle (whatever it was) that the tank drove by.

RPG-29 is a pretty fancy RPG as I recall. I think it is one of the newer models. I believe it is made by the Russians.

Firing an RPG is difficult. You an suffer ear damage to the ear that is closest to the side of your body from which you are launching the RPG. I have also heard that launchers can get burns on sides of their faces from which they launch the RPG. I am not sure what can be done to minimize this stuff.

Attack apparently occurred 10 days ago on July 22. Location unknown.

America's Nazi War on the Humans of Novorussia

From the Saker.
This really is an existential war. All of the West are supporting the Nazis against the Novorussian people. Of all the nations of the world, the only antifa nation is Russia. Only Russia is standing up against the Western-backed Nazi plague which is ethnically cleansing the humans of Novorussia.
Where do you stand?
Are you with the US, the Democratic and Republican parties, the Pentagon, the corporate media, the West and the Nazis?
Or are you with the only nation proud enough to stand up against Nazism, brave antifa Russia?
The vast majority of the American people are supporting the Nazis 100%. Why be a sheep and follow the crowd. Follow your heart.

Panikhida – A Panikhida is a memorial service which is a liturgical solemn service for the repose of the departed in the Eastern Orthodox Church. Dedicated to all those killed in Eastern Ukraine (Novorossiya): children, women, old people, men, militia and soldiers.
On July 2nd 2014, Ukrainian planes attacked the Lugansk Cossack village and Kondrashovka village. The city of Lugansk also was attacked with mortars and by Ukrainian soldiers.
On May 2nd 2014, 114 people were killed by Pravy Sektor in the House of Trade Unions, Odessa. They were shot, burnt to death, and a near-term pregnant woman was raped and strangled.

Breaking: IDF to Unilaterally Withdraw from Gaza – Operation Protective Edge Over

An Emergency National Security Cabinet meeting of the Israeli government was held overnight during the late Friday night to early Saturday morning period. No official declarations were issued from the meeting. However, a source, probably the Government Secretary, leaked the news that a decision had been made at the meeting to unilaterally withdraw from Gaza.
The decision to withdraw is still officially secret. Israel will not pursue a ceasefire with Hamas nor will it send a delegation to Cairo for negotiations. The decision to unilaterally withdraw is based on the deterrence against Hamas created by the Operation Protective Edge.
The IDF told refugees to return to Beit Hanina and Beit Lahiya in North Gaza. This implies that the leak is correct, and IDF is indeed withdrawing.
Hadar Goldin may have been deliberately killed by IDF in a Hannibal Option operation after he was taken prisoner.
Operation Protective Edge lasted 25 days.
Israel
67 killed, 64 soldiers, 3 civilians
423 wounded, 400 soldiers, 23 civilians
Palestinians
~1,450 killed, ~1,150 civilians and ~300 militants
~8,900 wounded, ~6,850 civilians and ~2,050 militants
The ratio of killed was 25-1 in Israel’s favor and the ratio for wounded was 20-1 in Israel’s favor. This was a lot lower than in past operations, when the figures have been more like 100-1. This shows that the Palestinians are getting stronger, and they are killing and wounding more Israelis for every Palestinian casualty, evening the score somewhat.

Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza, before and after. Good Lord, that looks like the photos of German cities after US bombing raids. That does not look good at all. Looks like a catastrophe.

1st Lt. Hadar Goldin, taken POW by Hamas today. This is one of the first photos of him published by a news source. Photo was very hard to find.

This photo of the now famous Hadar Goldin was published on this site before it was published on any other news site. It was very hard to find. After a lot of snooping around, I finally found it on some obscure Facebook page. Very soon after I published it, the excellent Israeli site Debka published it too. Debka was the first large news site to publish it other than this measly blog. I then went to sleep, satisfied with having scooped the whole damn world. When I woke up, I went online. There was that photo I had dredged up, appearing on sites all over the Net, mostly Israeli sites.
Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hooray for Beyond Highbrow!
You guys wonder why you even read this site. Beyond Highbrow scoops the whole damn world, dammit! Get with the program. Read Beyond Highbrow today. Better yet, make a donation. Wink wink.

"Donetsk Is Surrounded" – The Latest Lie from US Presstitutes

Sitrep Novorussian War July 31, 2014.
Click to enlarge. Sitrep Novorussian War July 31, 2014.

This is the Novorussian War as of July 31. The Ukrainian Nazi forces are in blue and the Novorussian self-defense forces are in red.
The latest propaganda as of yesterday is “Donetsk is surrounded.” The media is supporting the Nazis 100% in their ethnic cleansing war against the Novorussian self-defense forces. Donetsk is that large city you see to the lower left. Does it look like it is surrounded to you?
The Nazis are really only present to the north and northwest of the city. But see that blue arrow coming out of Nazi territory to the southeast of Donetsk? Now look at that large arrow in the center of self-defense forces territory to the northeast of Donetsk. Also see the small blue arrow to the southwest of the small blue circle with white inside.
See what the Nazis are doing? They are trying to surround Donetsk. This is very clear. The situation is somewhat grave in that there is a large-scale effort to surround the city of Donetsk by the huge army of a nation. They have not yet succeeded, but if they do, things will be very bad. This was the situation as of July 31. US presstitutes are reporting that on August 1 that Donetsk is surrounded. Donetsk suddenly got surrounded in one day? No.
That said, I do not believe that the situation looks good for the self-defense forces. Russia’s game is to sit around until the Nazi government collapses or is overthrown or the Ukie winter descends on the land and the Nazis can’t fight anymore. The problem is that NATO is totally committed to defending their Nazi proxies to the end. NATO will not let let the Nazi regime fall, and the people will not be able to overthrow the Nazis as the Nazis will not allow that to happen.
Russia appears to be supplying the self-defense forces with modern weaponry and the self-defense forces have a fairly large army of ~32,000 men under arms. But the Nazis have twice as many men under arms. Not only that, but they seem to have an endless supply of equipment that will probably be constantly replenished by the Nazis Western friends in Poland and the US.
Furthermore, the Nazis keep calling draft after draft, and despite significant casualties have managed to convince a lot of Ukies to die for the Nazi cause. Also, the Nazis just imposed a 1.5% war tax. And as far as equipment goes, the rants about Russia supplying the self-defense forces are rather silly as the Nazis have the self-defense forces totally outgunned in terms of equipment, particularly armored equipment. I believe that in the long term, things do not look good for the self-defense forces.
There may be some Russian advisors working with the self-defense forces. However, the US is totally committed to supporting the Nazis. Both the CIA and FBI have large operations in Kiev to support the Nazis with their spies and gumshoes. The Pentagon is working very closely with the Nazi military. In fact, there is even one US general working with his Nazi partners on strategy.
To sum up, from the self-defense forces’ point of view, things are not looking good. On the other hand, they are not looking bad either. They have now been on the defensive for most of the last two months. This is a small rebel band fighting a fully-equipped army of a nation. Such bands are always at a disadvantage if only in pure numbers.
The Western pro-Nazi media has been reporting lately that the Russians have been shelling into Nazi territory from inside Russia. Some are saying that those images are faked, but my information is that they are true. I believe they are mostly shelling that Nazi force that is trapped in the Southern Cauldron.
Do you see the numbers 3, 6, 7 and 11 on the map? Look inside those numbers, and you will see a small pocket of Nazi territory that is more or less hemmed in. Do you see that blue arrow coming from the west headed into the Cauldron dated 7-31? That is a Nazi force trying to break into the Cauldron to rescue the trapped troops there.
To the south of the Cauldron, you see the solid green line of the Russian border? This is the southern border of the Cauldron, and it is from here that the Russians are shelling the trapped troops. The shelling is known as “harassment and interdiction fire.” You will have to go look up what that means if you have no military experience. It’s more or less random fire at enemy territory I believe. Nevertheless, artillery is a powerful weapon, and even harassment artillery fire can cause a lot of damage.

The Internationale Wobzi Khroskyabs Version

Really nice. My favorite song of all time, The Internationale, the international anthem of socialists, anarchists, Communists and other Leftists, is still one of the greatest songs ever written, no matter what you think of the Left.
Very interesting version, sung in a strange Tibetan language that is only spoken by ~50,000 people. Nice photos from the Chinese Revolution too.
Revolution is not a dinner party!
Serve the people!

Yochanan Gordon, "When Genocide is Permissible"

This article caused quite a stir when it was published one of the Times of Israel‘s blogs. But is was so controversial that the Times of Israel took down the blog post and appears to have suspended the author. The author’s father is the publisher of the Five Towns Jewish Times in Nassau, New York, serving the large Orthodox Jewish community in that part of New York. The article first appeared in that publication. Yochanan’s grandfather was a somewhat famous Jewish author who wrote in Yiddish.
People are screaming and yelling about it a lot, but if you go to Israel National News, similar views, not quite as broadly stated, are so normal they are nearly the norm for commenters on that site. Yet even there some have gone overboard calling for germ warfare and chemical warfare to be unleashed on Gaza. One man called for the IDF to release the Ebola Virus on Gaza. However, many of the commenters have protested these posts as going too far.
Nevertheless, let us be fair, Muslims the world over are calling for the genocide of the Jews in one way or another just about every week. “Kill the Jews! Kill all of the Jews, every one of them!” and other comments along those lines are pretty regular fare with preachers in Saudi Arabia, Germany, the UK, Gaza and Egypt. These preachers are generally from the Salafi-jihadist or global jihad/Al Qaeda school of radical Islam.
Nevertheless, statements by Palestinians have not been very heartening either. Yasser Arafat said that once the Arabs get Palestine back, they would slowly terrorize the Jews into leaving. Although I think he said psychological terrorism, we know what he meant. George Habash of the PFLP said a long time ago that there were no limits when it came to killing Jews in order to win back Palestine. Note that Jews in general were targeted although the fight was against Jewish nationalists in Israel.
Sheik Yassin, a wicked little beady eyed troll of a man, was interviewed by Atlantic Magazine‘s Jeffrey Goldberg. Yassin allowed that all Jews who could prove that they were in Palestine before 1916 (the Balfour Declaration) would be considered residents and not settlers and could stay on the land. The rest would be considered invaders. How to deal with them. “We will slowly kill them until they leave,” he allowed. Dr. Rantissi, pediatrician and leader of Hamas at the same time that Yassin was spiritual leader, was a famous Holocaust Denier and fulminated quite a bit about the Jews. He was also apparently a believer in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
The idiotic Hamas Charter also references that stupid book along with a lot of other traditional anti-Semitic tropes. In addition, it references the famous Koranic phrase that talks about how in the last days, the Muslims will kill off all the Jews. Some of the Jews will hide behind trees, and Allah will tell the Muslims, “There, behind that tree, there’s a Jew!” Then the Muslims will follow directions and go find and kill the Jew. Nice book, that Quran.
In closing, while I believe this article is lamentable, the Muslims say stuff like this about the Jews all the time, as in every week.

When Genocide is Permissible

by Yochanan Gordon

Judging by the numbers of casualties on both sides in this almost one-month old war one would be led to the conclusion that Israel has resorted to disproportionate means in fighting a far less-capable enemy. That is as far as what meets the eye. But, it’s now obvious that the US and the UN are completely out of touch with the nature of this foe and are therefore not qualified to dictate or enforce the rules of this war – because when it comes to terror there is much more than meets the eye.
I wasn’t aware of this, but it seems that the nature of warfare has undergone a major shift over the years. Where wars were usually waged to defeat the opposing side, today it seems – and judging by the number of foul calls it would indicate – that today’s wars are fought to a draw. I mean, whoever heard of a timeout in war? An NBA Basketball game allows six timeouts for each team during the course of a game, but last I checked this is a war! We are at war with an enemy whose charter calls for the annihilation of our people. Nothing, then, can be considered disproportionate when we are fighting for our very right to live.
The sad reality is that Israel gets it, but its hands are being tied by world leaders who over the past six years have insisted they are such good friends with the Jewish state that they know more regarding its interests than even Israel does. But there’s going to have to come a time where Israel feels threatened enough to where it has no other choice but to defy international warnings – because this is life or death.
Most of the reports coming from Gazan officials and leaders since the start of this operation have been either largely exaggerated or patently false. The truth is, it’s not their fault, falsehood and deceit is part of the very fabric of who they are, and that will never change. Still however, despite their propensity to lie, when your enemy tells you that they are bent on your destruction, you believe them. Similarly, when Khaled Meshal declares that no physical damage to Gaza will dampen their morale or weaken their resolve – they have to be believed.
Our sage Gedalia the son of Achikam was given intelligence that Yishmael Ben Nesanyah was plotting to kill him. However, in his piety or rather naiveté, Gedalia dismissed the report as a random act of gossip and paid no attention to it. To this day, the day following Rosh Hashana is commemorated as a fast day in the memory of Gedalia who was killed in cold blood on the second day of Rosh Hashana during the meal. They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over. History is there to teach us lessons, and the lesson here is that when your enemy swears to destroy you – you take him seriously.
Hamas has stated forthrightly that it idealizes death as much as Israel celebrates life. What other way then is there to deal with an enemy of this nature other than obliterate them completely?
News anchors such as those from CNN, BBC and Al-Jazeera have not missed an opportunity to point out the majority of innocent civilians who have lost their lives as a result of this war. But anyone who lives with rocket launchers installed or terror tunnels burrowed in or around the vicinity of their home cannot be considered an innocent civilian. If you’ll counter that Hamas has been seen abusing civilians who have attempted to leave their homes in response to Israeli warnings to leave – well then, you’re beginning to come to terms with the nature of this enemy which should automatically cause the rules of standard warfare to be suspended.
Everyone agrees that Israel has the right to defend itself as well as the right to exercise that right. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has declared it, and Obama and Kerry have clearly stated that no one could be expected to sit idle as thousands of rockets rain down on the heads of its citizens placing them in clear and present danger. It seems then that the only point of contention is regarding the measure of punishment meted out in this situation.
I will conclude with a question for all the humanitarians out there. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clearly stated at the outset of this incursion that his objective is to restore a sustainable quiet for the citizens of Israel. We have already established that it is the responsibility of every government to ensure the safety and security of its people. If political leaders and military experts determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is through genocide is it then permissible to achieve those responsible goals?

Breaking News: Captured Israeli Soldier Is Probably Dead

IDF 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin, the Israeli soldier who was taken prisoner by Hamas Friday morning, may be dead.
Hamas states that they have no idea where he is and have never known where he is.
The group says that they lost contact with the fighters who perpetrated the ambush that captured Goldin, and these fighters have not been heard from since. Hamas believes that all were probably killed in subsequent IDF shelling. Hamas assumes that Goldin was also probably killed in IDF shelling.
The heavy IDF shelling and bombing by planes that occurred after the soldier was seized caused heavy casualties. Palestinian sources reported 20 killed (at least 8 of those militants) and 100 wounded (unknown number, possibly 40 of them, militants).
Not only Hamas but also Islamic Jihad and the PFLP have been involved in that heavy fighting in the area to the east of Rafah.
Goldin was standing in front of a tunnel east of Rafah (exact location unknown as the names of the regions do not make sense) that was being decommissioned Friday morning at either 9:30 AM (Israel) or 7 AM (Hamas). Suddenly fighters popped out of the ground. One was a suicide bomber and the others had guns. The suicide bomber blew up near the troops, apparently killing two of them. A large battle ensued. In the chaos, Goldin was seized and taken POW by being dragged off into the tunnel. Goldin was apparently alive when seized, but it is not known if he was wounded or not. It was only a short time later when the IDF realized that he was missing.
Goldin studied to the 13th year. This means he is a technician in some unspecified field. His specialty and specific unit is not known, but he served in the Givati Brigade. The Givati Brigade started out as an amphibious unit in 1982 during the Lebanon War, but later they were moved out of that area of combat. Now they have various units, including one specialized for desert warfare that includes many Bedouins and Druze.
A good guess as to his specialty would be a computer specialist, possibly working with in sigintel with the Signals Branch of the brigade. Why was he standing in front of the tunnel. Perhaps it is difficult to communicate for those aboveground to communicate with soldiers in the tunnels, so maybe his job to be to man above ground who communicates with units below in the tunnels.

Goldin’s father, Simha, is a Professor of Jewish History at Tel Aviv University, close to his home in Kfar Saba. The father is a commander in the reserves and is also head of the Diaspora Committee at the university. He has authored a book about a famous French Jew, Rabbi Meir of Rothenberg, who lived in the 1200’s.
Goldin’s mother is named Hedva. Both of his parents’ names, Simha and Hedva, mean “happiness” in Hebrew.
Both of Goldin’s grandparents were Holocaust survivors.
Goldin comes from a strong religious-Zionist background. He attended a religious-military academy near the Eli settlement in the West Bank, where he was noted as an expert Talmudic scholar. He has a twin brother named Tzur, also an officer in the military, with whom he is nearly inseparable.
He and his brother both found themselves at the same officer training school and they both graduated last September. Goldin was interviewed around that time on Arutz Sheva Radio.
Both of Goldin’s parents are distantly related to the Israeli Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon.
He is a dual British-Israeli citizen.
Goldin is engaged to be married.

On Friday around noon, an IDF soldier wounded by automatic weapons fire in village south of Nablus. Special forces raided village, attacking a home and a shop looking for a suspect.
The IDF has been bombing the Gaza Strip very heavily in the past day. The other day, 40 mosques were destroyed. More mosques were hit today. The IDF claims that Hamas stores rockets in mosques. Today Gaza University was bombed.
In Jerusalem, cop pulled over Palestinian on a motorcycle. The Arab went for cop’s gun. The Arab was wrestled to ground by the cop and Tazered.
Total IDF casualties for Friday were 2 killed, 34 wounded. The IDF has lost 63 soldiers to date in the operation.
Total Palestinian losses to date are nearly 1,450 dead and at least 8,500 wounded. Anywhere from 200-500 of the dead are militants, so anywhere from 950-1,250 civilians have been killed.
The Mujahideen Brigades, the armed wing of the Al-Mujahideen Movement in Gaza, fired a SAM-7 MANPAD at an IDF Apache helicopter near Khan Younis. The missile missed the copter. This is the first use I have heard of MANPAD use by the Gazans. The Mujahideen Brigades is a small group, and they are little known.
The Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades, the armed wing of the PLO, carried out a shooting attack on an IDF target south of Jerusalem, no doubt in the West Bank. All fighters returned to their base. There were apparently no IDF casualties.

Gaza Update August 1, 2014

IDF reported that 5 soldiers were killed in the Eskhol District at a staging area just outside of Gaza. The 5 soldiers were killed by mortar fire and I can now give the exact location via Islamic Jihad as the Kerem Shalom border crossing with Sinai, Gaza and Israel where there has been heavy fighting for days now.
IDF reporting a “security incident” in the Kerem Shalom area. A closed military zone is in effect in the area. No idea what it is all about.
At 8:30 AM Friday, a huge battle took place east of Rafah according to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. I do not know exactly where as the Arabic names make no sense. According to some sources, the attack took place behind IDF lines. IDF was inspecting some tunnels when militants popped up out of tunnels out of nowhere and and opened up with grenades, automatic weapons and RPG’s.
A suicide bomber blew himself up amidst IDF troops, wounding at least four soldiers. A huge battle took place during which two IDF troops were killed. In the commotion caused by the suicide bomber, Hamas 1st Lt. Hadar Goldin, took him  POW and dragged him down into a tunnel. The IDF says Goldin is alive, but they do not know his condition. He may or may not have been wounded in the battle.
The IDF then bombarded the area with planes and artillery. 20 Palestinians were killed and 100 were wounded in this bombardment. Of the 20, at least 8 were militants.
Hamas says that the attack took place before the ceasefire that was due to start, but Israel says Hamas broke the ceasefire. The ceasefire allowed Israel to keep on destroying tunnels. That bizarre version of a “ceasefire” could only exist in the minds of Israel and the US. This crazy ceasefire was the one that Kerry has been trying to negotiate for days now. Many of the talks have been held in Egypt.
Of course, Hamas and the other militants routinely violate all ceasefires, whereas Israel has been trying to keep to them. As soon as a humanitarian ceasefire is announced, Israel often stops firing, but pretty soon Hamas shoots another missile.
Militants say  that if the IDF is going to continue to destroy tunnels during the ceasefire, the militants are going to keep firing on the IDF. I suppose that is reasonable.
South of Nablus, automatic weapons fire from a Palestinian village wounded one IDF soldier. Special Forces soon raided the village and attacked a home and a store.
In Jerusalem, a Palestinian on a motorcycle was stopped by police. As he was being questioned, he tried to go for the cop’s gun. The Palestinian was wrestled to the ground and Tazered.
Arabs continue to riot across the West Bank, especially in Jerusalem. There was also rioting in Hebron yesterday.
A Palestinian bomb car was stopped outside a Gush Etzion settlement just inside the West Bank near the 1947 boundary and not far from Jerusalem.
Palestinians hung a PLO flag at a locale only five minutes from the Wailing Wall. Jews complained and the cops said the flag was illegal. Two Jewish women came with tools to cut the flag down, but they were suddenly surrounded by 30 Arab youths throwing rocks at them. The women made it away safely. Later, police came and cut the flag down. Then they went to the woman’s house and gave her the flag. She said she planned to set it on fire.
Huge numbers of Israelis support the operation, up to 95% in favor with only 5% feeling that it was excessive. As you can see, there is not much room for opposition in Israel anymore.
Reports indicate that Israel may be planning to end the Gaza incursion in a few days. Then the IDF will pull back just outside of Gaza where they will stay in large numbers. No doubt militants will attack these large IDF formations on the Gaza border. So a small scale war of attrition will replace this huge war.

Ukrainian Nazis Plotting Another False Flag

We have been uncovering these plots all the time for a while now, one after the other. Once we release the plan of the plot, they do not implement it. Some of the plots have not been caught beforehand, so they were carried out. Are the Nazis capable of blowing up a chemical plant and killing tens of thousands of Novorussians in order to blame the self-defense forces? Of course!
Keep in mind that if this one succeeds, this will be the fourth false flag operation that the Nazis carried out in the Ukraine so far.

More Evidence Linking the Ukrainian Nazis to Three Proven False Flag Operations Since February

The first false flag involved the Right Sector snipers on roofs who killed Berkut police but mostly killed their own Maidan protestors. 100 people were killed by Maidan Nazi snipers in one day, February 20. They got away with it at the time and they are still getting away with it. The uproar over the slaughter and the Western media blaming the Berkuts was so great that the Yanukovitch government resigned and the coup government took over. Yanukovitch had to flee for his life to Russia.
The Wikipedia article about the incident continues to blame the Berkut.
However, we now have a recorded conversation between the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Cathy Ashton in which the Estonian politician says that investigations showed that all protestors, police and Maidans, were shot by the same people. Furthermore, an investigation revealed that all of the bullets were of the same type. This was a type that the Berkuts did not even have. In addition, the Berkuts had no sniper rifles in their armory and they had no trained snipers on their force.
Paet said that investigations had concluded that the Maidan Right Sector units had shot both the police and their own Maidan protestors. Later, an anti-Russian Ukrainian MP set up a commission to investigate the shootings. He concluded that there was no evidence whatsoever that the Berkuts police killed any of those people. Left unstated was the logical conclusion that the Maidan fascists shot their own people.
The second false flag was the murder of anywhere from 30-120 unarmed pro-federalist protestors in the Labor Ministry in Odessa. The Western press continues to claim that the protestors killed themselves by setting themselves on fire, but mostly the Western media has simply stopped talking about it.
The third false flag was the downing of the jetliner. It is starting to look a lot like the Nazis shot down that jet in order to blame it on the self-defense forces.
The Russians have photos of five Nazi Buks in the immediate vicinity of the shootd own the day before. Later a Buk was moved near the border of the Nazi and self-defense zones. The Russians picked up one Buk radar operating in the area, and that was manned by Nazis. The Russians even know the name of the unit which was using that radar. Furthermore, the Russians now have video showing what looks like the launch of a SAM, apparently a Buk, from inside Nazi territory right before the jet went down.
In addition, local residents in the area of the shoot down where US intelligence says a self-defense force Buk shot down the jet say that they never saw any Buk in the hands of the self-defense forces, and they never saw any Buk launch that day from the area where the US says the self-defense forces launched their phantom Buk.
A BBC reporter went to the exact site where the Nazi government said the self-defense forces launched their Buk, but the reporter found no evidence that a Buk had ever been there and residents said there had never been any Buk there and that they saw on Buk launch from that area. Later this report was pulled by the ultra-corrupt and criminal BBC network, an arm of the criminal British government. This shows how evidence of who shot down the jet is being deliberately manipulated by criminals in the British and US governments. The criminal Spanish government has also been involved in covering up evidence that the Nazis shot down the jet.
No one has ever proved that the self-defense forces had a working Buk at any time. The only Buk they seized was said to be nonoperational from the very start as it lacked a radar. All photos of the supposed self-defense force Buk have been shown to be fakes. These are actually photos of Nazi Buks taken on Nazi-held territory. There is no evidence that the Russians trained self-defense forces on Buks at a base in Russia, nor is there evidence that the Russians supplied the self-defense forces with a Buk.
All US “evidence” proving this has apparently been faked by the CIA. The truth is that the Russians would probably not risk giving the self-defense forces a Buk, and the self-defense forces do not even know how to operate one anyway. I doubt if the Russians would send in a Buk to be operated by a Russian crew. That is a serious involvement beyond what the Russians have done so far.
The important take home point here is that the Nazi government has repeatedly shown that they are willing to stage incidents in which they kill civilians for political goals in order to blame the killings on the opposition. If they have done it three times already, they certainly would be expected to do it a fourth time.
