Four Friends of Mine Who Went to West Africa

RL: ‘People act like there is a difference between “a few Nigerian scammers” and “the vast majority of the good Nigerian people.” As far as I can tell, most of the people in that part of the world are liars, thieves, scammers, criminals and morally depraved lowlifes. “West African scammer” just means “normal West African person.”’ I’m willing to believe the truth is somewhere in between but this last statement can’t be true. There’s no way the norm is to be engaged in scamming. I don’t believe it. I’d love to see you travel to Nigeria and India and spend some time there and see if your opinion changes.

I would not go to any of those countries, especially Ghana or Nigeria, if my life depended on it. Way to chaotic and dangerous. I am not particularly interested in visiting shitholes full of dangerous psychopaths. I will never go to India. A good friend of mine, a young woman, went there, and she was terrified the whole time as guys creeped on her in a horrible way 24-7. She stupidly went home with two Indian animals, and the guys spent the whole night trying to rape her. Would not take no for an answer. Half the time she was there, she was sick as Hell. People say that most travelers to India get sick. I have heard of US Indians who say that every time they go home to India they get sick. Fuck that country. If I went to either of those shitholes, I am sure that I would hate them even worse than I do now as seeing is believing. I know four people who went to Nigeria or that general region.

  1. One man went there on safari and also to track down a woman who had ripped him off. She stole $2,300 from him and didn’t pay back any of it when he visited.
  2. A woman I know went to one of those shitholes, I forget which, and she had 24-48 hours of total nightmare. I believe she went there to try to track down some guy who stole money from her. There were repeated attempts to steal from her, kidnap her, assault her and rape her. She kept trying to find people she could trust, but they always turned out to be criminals too. Finally she ended up at a police station, but they were worse than useless as they were basically criminals too. Somehow she found some people she could trust and managed to get out of the country. She said she was lucky to get out alive.
  3. I know a woman who went to Nigeria, and nearly as soon as she stepped off the plane, a Nigerian woman assaulted her in the bathroom and tried to rob her. She said the you can smell the city all the way up in the air, and the whole place smells like rotting garbage.
  4. My friend, a Black attorney, spent some time in Nigeria and Ghana trying to invest in factories with local partners. I am not sure how it all worked out. He absolutely hated West Africans and said 9

I did hear of several women who traveled to Ghana for whatever reason and apparently did not have many problems. However, they all said that the poverty was horrible.

  1. The city is always worse than the country. Nigeria is probably dangerous in the countryside, but far less than in Lagos. I know that most Filipinos, obviously, viewed Manila as far more dangerous. The countryside in the Philippines was awesome, but you want to be sure to “financially take care of the locals”.

    1. I could easily imagine a situation of getting off the plane in Manila, and getting jumped and robbed. However, it’s far more likely you would meet a “scam” tour guide. In fact, I met one on my first trip. In fact, it’s funny, there were arrested right before I got in the plane to go to another island. It all seemed comical. I didn’t really feel bad. They didn’t really rip me off. They just weren’t real tour guides, LOL.

      1. Well, actually they did overcharge me. But, you know, I didn’t care, cause I was having the time of my life.

      2. I got scammed hard core in Bangkok on a shitty tour I took. The prices they charged didn’t seem unreasonable to me, but I later found out I was charged an absolutely absurd amount by Thai standards. That was some time ago, I don’t remember what it was anymore.

  2. Islamic nations are pretty much off my list, though an Irish ESL teacher friend visited Turkey, and even North Korea. As Tulio said, the 4th world, as opposed to the 3rd, isn’t worth seeing unarmed.

    1. Most Islamic nations are fine. Being afraid of Turkey as an Islamic nation is a joke. I wouldn’t feel afraid of visiting anywhere in the Islamic world as long as it’s not a warzone or some place where drones are dropping bombs like like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen.

  3. Sometimes, it’s a good idea for a third worlder to make a working relationship with a tourist, because the tourist is a cash cow. However, as you know, you have to keep milking the cow. So the third worlder is not interested in getting a huge amount of cash from the tourist, and then skipping town. I think usually that’s the case, though scammers are abound.

  4. I still don’t buy it. I can go on expat forums and find plenty of people who had no issues in West Africa and enjoy living there. I trust people who actually LIVE there *long-term* and have to actually deal with normal people on a regular basis than someone dealing with scammers or someone flying there short-term to collect money.

    1. Not sure. Opinion of Kenyans, pretty low. I would not go to that country. Opinion of Burundians, low. Met one, typical gangster-criminal. Tanzanians – better. Ethiopians are ok.

  5. Hold up, you just put up an article about “West Africa” (A region not a country) based on hearsay and “My friend said”. All you did in your dimwitted article was try to pass hearsay as fact.
The next time you want to write something absolutely idiotic, you might want to stick to something you’ve actually experienced.

    1. Nope, I had up close and personal experiences with a very large number of these West Africans. Most were Nigerians, a few were Ghanians and one was a Sierra Leonian. They stole from me, they stole from many of my friends, they tried to scam many of my friends and they flashed their dicks at a lot of my female friends.
With only a few exceptions, they were for the most part absolutely horrible human beings. We had a Yahoo group with many of these West Africans in it and we had to throw almost all of them out of the group and we even had to make a racist “No Africans Allowed” rule.

  6. This is a post made by someone with no firsthand experience. Slandering a country based on word of mouth from few people?? Stating that majority of people in a country are thieves?? I see some of these comments and this is totally disgusting! A post like this with no facts… Great job! It’s people like you who the world needs less of, I have visited those countries and the people there are good and regular. Educate yourself first. Asshole!

I have no idea if the majority of Nigerians are thieves. I met a very large number of Nigerians on the Net and my friends met more. Over 95% of them were liars, cheaters, thieves and scammers. Almost none of them were decent humans. You do the math.

      1. I agree with you RL – West (and probably Central) Africans have got to be the worst sub-groups of the Black Population. I have been to Nigeria / Ghana / Ivory Coast and Cameroon (naturally on Business, not pleasure). The moment you step off the plane, and go into the Airport, you know its Africa…. So read this as a shit-hole. The Airport Staff Were inefficient / rude, had to wait 2 hours for my Bags, the roads / transport and everything was chaotic / Days of diarrhea and fever almost each time I go there.. I have been to Lat-Am but this is many times worse, and at least things are semi-functional in Lat-Am… Also if you are a white/non-african (light skinned) woman they will try to grope/rape you as they did to my 2 female co-workers who travelled with me once, but never again to Africa After that. Since that Incident our company had a “Travel Warning” for Women Travellers regarding Central and West Africa (until someone complained it was racist).
I think East Africans Especially the ones with Arab and Caucasian Admixture (so Sahal Region and Northern / North East Africa) they are better. Of Course I have been to South Africa, and its still got the touch of class (for Africa anyway) thanks to YT, it is Amazin what just 10% YT population can do…. South Africa, the Blue Print for all of Africa????
And these West African Folks are breeding like rabbits, I guess White Sugar Daddy will have take care of them. As many of these F*ckers are coming over to Europe, carrying their IQ of 70 as well…. wow Europe is really going to Benefit… Just send the fucker back. Our Leaders are a bunch of spinless P*ssies.. The people WANT tough immigration and immigration enforcement.
That’s at least 1 thing I say is good about the US Immigration System they generally keep the Africans out, Jeez we have enough here already LOL.
