What Language Is This?
What language is this? Or, more properly, what script is that, as obviously it is written in a particular script. Interesting. A man took a trip to Thailand. He went out to a restaurant one night, and when he got back to his hotel, this slip of paper was somehow in his wallet. Although he spoke a number of languages and considered himself to be something of a linguistic expert, he could not figure out what the language was or especially what the script was. To give you a possible hint, it does resemble a number of the scripts used to write South Indian Dravidian languages and also languages in Southeast Asia. Hence, as you might have guessed if you are smart, of course it is an abugida. But now you need to figure out what an abugida is!
is it Burmese?
No, it is not Burmese. Great guess though Rahul my friend.
Burmese looks nothing like that. Rahul was way off. I thought Georgian for a second but I’m wrong too..
It is a brahmi script found in South India and South-east asia colonised by South Indians
I would venture a guess: Tamil?
No, it is not Tamil.
Laotian ?
No.
I am tamil, it is definitely not any current Indian script, but shows affinity to brahmi, an ancient Indian script
I will agree with you that that script is not a script being used by any Indian groups, correct. Good job!
Is it a variation of Pali? Possibly Thai? Thai and other south eastern languages of Asia have Indian affinities.
It is not a variation of Pali, and it is not Thai. Keep guessing though!
It’s Ge’ez, used to write Amharic and Tigrinya, Semitic Ethiopian languages.
Yes! You got it! Good job!
Like a fucking boss.
