Why French Culture is Better Than American Culture

I have been reading a lot about France lately for an article on the French language that I am cooking up. It’s still in the notes stage at the moment. I have been to many French websites, almost all of them written in French, so I have had to read a lot of French, which I am not very good at.

Many interesting things struck me about France which could be the subject of many provocative posts.

First of all, I feel that France is a real country, unlike this bullshit nonentity we call the United States. I don’t know why I felt that way, but reading endlessly about France, I felt that somehow this was a real country, with a real culture, a real language, a real history, a real politics, and a people deeply rooted in, yes, blood and soil, yet somehow without being fascists.

It’s a region where the past, present and possibly the future all run together. The year 1200 could have been yesterday. The 30 Years War could happen tomorrow.

The people, even regular, ordinary working class people, are extremely cultured and educated. This goes far beyond IQ. I had a French girlfriend when I was young. I was 21 and she was 37. She told me she was educated – she had a “baccaularet.”

That is an extremely hard test that the French make you take if you graduate from high school just to qualify to get into the unversity. Just to qualify, mind you. She had passed the college entrance exam, so she was an educated person. In France, that statement is actually true. Can you imagine somehow saying that in the US.

This woman was one of the most educated people I have ever met. I have no idea what her IQ was, not that it matters. We went to see art movies, plays and lectures by arty directors. She read voraciously, especially avant-garde novels like Alain Robbe-Grillet and Peter Handke that no one reads here.

One time I called her up and she said she was reading a book. I asked what it was about. She said, “Ontology.” I asked what that was, and she acted like I was stupid for asking. It’s a branch of philosophy that deals with “the study of existence,” whatever that means.

French women are one of the few women on Earth who will actually fuck you just for being an intellectual or an artist. They really respect stuff like that.

The weird thing was that I never thought that Suzanne was an unusual French person. I met a lot of her French friends and they were all just like her.

I met another Frenchwoman on the Net recently. She read a book a day. She also wrote poetry, which she published on the Net. I have no idea how good it was, but how many Americans put their poetry on the Net? I told her I was reading Sartre, and she almost screamed for joy. This woman had spent her whole life working for the post office. How many intellectuals do you know who work at the post office?

The French IQ of 94 is lower than our US White IQ at 100, yet the French seem to so much smarter.

Your IQ is a nice base, but it also matters what you stuff into your head. The White American stuffs nothing of any meaning or intelligence in his somewhat larger head. The French head is a bit smaller, yet he fills it to the brim with intellectual hors d’oevres large and small from far and near.

  1. “The French IQ of 94 is lower than our US White IQ at 100, yet the French seem to so much smarter.”

That’s the IQ for people of French nationality. There are many Muslims and Blacks in France, it’s not inconceivable that they drag the IQ down and the real French are just as smart as the Italians (They had quite a few brilliant mathematicians back in the day).

In general, I don’t admire European or American culture. Too suicidal. The French excel at it. What’s the point of admiring a culture that does nothing to preserve itself from being overwhelmed by other, obviously inferior ones? The Burka ban is too little, too late, in my opinion.

Japanese and Korean culture are my favorites, because they resist multiculturalism while being civilized and orderly. Chinese are also like this, but there are other things about them which I don’t like.

  2. Do you really want to disqualify people from higher education because o one lousy exam?
“We went to see art movies, plays and lectures by arty directors. She read voraciously, especially avant-garde novels like Alain Robbe-Grillet and Peter Handke that no one reads here.”

I know that type very well. These people are often preoccupied with intellectualism but are very dysfunctional and unproductive in their daily lives.

  3. “I never lecture, not because I am shy or a bad speaker, but simply because I detest the sort of people who go to lectures and don’t want to meet them.”

  4. The French are intellectual but this intelligence is applied to abstract topic like art or philosophy. As long as you verbal IQ is high you can pretty much say anything about this stuff. You can’t do this with engineering because if your idea is BS it will be apparent. It doesn’t matter anyway because French culture is disappearing in accordance with their changing demographics. PS, how do you know French head is smaller?

    1. I am just guessing. It might be but I’m not sure. There is a 6-point differential between French and US White IQ’s. That may translate into a smaller headsize, but I am not sure.

  5. I wonder if the French and the USA citizens are taking the same IQ test. DOes everyone in the world take the same IQ test or are their different versions?

And how does the white IQ in America get tested? I am white and I’v never taken an IQ test. What segment of the population are the IQ testees being taken from in America?

  6. France is cool and I enjoyed visiting the place, but I think you are presenting an overly-idealized image of the French. I’d say most French are fairy polite. I didn’t find them rude and arrogant as we stereotype them. But the ones I have met here didn’t seem anymore intellectual than average.

They aren’t all sipping Bordeaux in smokey cafes while discussing Voltaire and socialism. They exist of course, but such people also exist in hipster circles in America. I’d say they seem less crass on average, but I think that also depends on where you are. Marsailles has always had a rep for being a ruff and tumble kind of town.

  7. There are approximately 15 million “French” people of African (North and Subsaharian) descent in France, as opposed to the rest of the population, i.e. 50 million people of European descent. Don’t you think this may have an impact on the overall IQ ? I’m sure it does. Furthermore, I agree with the fact that IQ doesn’t make intelligence by itself. Without trying to boast or anything, I happen to have a 140 IQ and I’m French. And I still do feel very dumb at times ! 🙂

  8. I couldn’t stop laughing because how dumb and stupid that it was. But to all Americcno please before making any real comments insulting France, say the truth about all the wars you fought s in books, get a real culture(u dont have one dumb turds) and make your goverment no being pay to do shit cause that’s pretty gay. And the IQ doesn’t mean shit dumbass
