Latest on the Sierra Kills and Bigfoot DNA

Has the Sierra Kills shooter been identified? The shooter who supposedly shot and killed 2 Bigfoots in the Sierra Nevada in October 2010 may have been identified. On a Cryptomundo thread here, a commenter with the handle “Nominay,” who also comments on this forum, suggests that the shooter is a man named Justin Smeja.

Smeja is a 25 year old Californian, an avid hunter, who lives in Sacramento, California. That would place him in close proximity to the location of the Sierra Kills in Plumas County not far away. Here is a photo of Smeja with a mule deer her shot. He is only 16 years old in that picture.

Smeja is also a member of the Olympic Project. This ties in with what my source “Bear Hunter” told me. He said that the shooter got deeply involved with the Olympic Project after the shooting. Nominay says that a friend who was close to the shooting incident confirmed that Smeja is the shooter.

It’s not yet been confirmed that Smeja is the shooter, and I’m not going to reveal the shooter’s name, although I know what it is. On the Cryptomundo thread, there were some arguments back and forth about whether or not Smeja could be the shooter.

Photos of Ketchum study evidence revealed. Here are some photos of some of the evidence that is being used in Dr. Melba Ketchum’s DNA project.

This sample is from the skunk kill reported by JC Johnson from the Four Corners area. A Bigfoot reportedly trapped a skunk in an irrigation pipe and killed it. The Bigfoot was apparently injured by the broken pipe. Apparently there was some blood evidence from this incident that was submitted as Bigfoot blood.

The only information I have on this was that some of the evidence was tested for nuclear DNA (only a single gene), but not mitochondrial DNA, although the full sequence may have been done later on. The sample was submitted by JC Johnson. I found these photos on the Internet.

The dead skunk from the Bigfoot-skunk encounter
Blood, surely skunk blood but possibly Bigfoot blood too, from the interior of the pipe.

Bigfoot DNA samples in Kentucky were obtained with broken glass. Bigfoot DNA samples were obtained from the site in northern Kentucky where the Erickson Project’s knockout videos were produced. The people at the site were feeding the Bigfoots every night by leaving food out for them. The EP Superglued broken glass to the table where the food was laid out for the Bigfoots. When the Bigfoots came that night to eat the food, the tips of their fingers were cut by the broken glass. In this way, a lot of excellent Bigfoot blood was obtained from the site.

Ketchum and Adrian Erickson back on speaking terms. Ketchum and Erickson are back in regular phone contact; however, the contacts have been described as “jockeying for position” on Ketchum’s part.

Ketchum burned her best friend for the money and glory. After Ketchum got herself a Hollywood lawyer and wrote up new NDA’s giving herself almost 10

An excellent female geneticist was on the team, and she was close to Ketchum. She refused to sign the new NDA, and Ketchum coldly dumped her from the team. This woman was distraught and absolutely devastated that her close friend would betray her like that for cash and fame.

Speculation about Ketchum’s competence is misguided. Although some of my sources have a low opinion of Ketchum as a scientist, I do not share that opinion. I think she’s a good scientist. However, in at least one sense, the criticism is misguided. For instance, on the James Randi forums, they are saying that Ketchum is not competent to do the DNA study because she doesn’t know what she is doing when it comes to DNA.

But in a way, it doesn’t matter, because she is not even doing a lot of the work herself. She is sending the work out blind to different labs and having them do the work. For instance, she will send the work out blind to Lab A, they will do the work and send it back to her. Then she will send it out to Lab B in the same fashion to check the work of Lab A and see if they can back it up.

In all cases, the samples testing positive as Bigfoot DNA are being done by labs other than Ketchum’s, and their work is being backed up by other labs. In all cases, the labs have agreed with each other on what is what is not Bigfoot DNA. So the samples really are being tested blind by multiple parties, and everything is testing out perfectly so far. This adds excellent weight to the science of her study.

Relationship between Erickson Project and Ketchum DNA project hard to describe. First of all, I would like to point out that the EP and the KP are two completely different entities, legally and in de facto reality. However, they have tight ties, which often causes people to confuse the two.

The EP is a minimal entity, probably for legal reasons. When you refer to the EP, you can only be talking about three whole human beings – despite the fact that a large number of other folks are associated with the project, you cannot refer to them as part of the project, probably for legal reasons.

Nevertheless, the two projects have deep ties. First of all, the EP are the people who enlisted Ketchum to do the DNA testing. This is not stated on the EP website, but this is what happened. She was not their first choice. They went to many others first, but all of those labs turned them down because they did not want to deal with the Bigfoot question. They went to her because she was the only one who would do Bigfoot DNA.

Also, the DNA results must be released in tandem with the EP video results. If Ketchum goes ahead and releases her study first, she can be sued by Erickson. So these two studies have a lot more in common than most think.

  1. Wait… is Smeja the shooter or not?

Quotes says: “Nominay says that a friend who was close to the shooting incident confirmed that Smeja is the shooter.”

Robert, you know for a face Smeja’s not the shooter correct?

    1. I’m not going to comment on who the shooter is, though I know his name. Smeja does match the description of the shooter in some ways. I would urge you to do some research to determine if you think he’s the shooter or not.

    1. Consider your research complete.

You do know that someone has been writing about you on the internet, saying you shut down a thread at Taxidermy at the request of a guy who was being harassed for shooting 2 Bigfoots, right?

Feel free to deny this and your knowledge of who this shooter is at anytime, so that your name is not involved in this crazy business anymore. Feel free to call out Ken Walker and Robert Lindsay as liars, if you can.

Well then I guess you’re just out of luck then. You see I DID at the direct request of Jason Smeja ask the site administrator to close the post. Smeja claimed he was getting threatening emails. Now man-up and apologize to those two.

    1. We don’t know. An Oregon woman had some on her property a while back and two guys from the government showed up at her door. They told her that the government had been investigating these creatures for years. They implied the reason it was secret was because “People will panic.” They stayed in town for six months and then they left.

They were regularly seen on Edwards Air Base in the 1970’s. We interviewed an MP and he said that they were seen often, but that their orders were to simply “observe.” They said the brass knew all about them but were not especially worried about them. They just thought they were some undiscovered animals. We then found 4 other MP’s at the base and they all confirmed the guy’s story in all details. They said that the Air Force did not want it getting out because then the base would be swamped with Bigfoot hunters and also the public would worry that the AF could not secure the base perimeter if the Bigfoots kept getting onto the base. So I guess there are different reasons.

That’s the only information we have.

      1. Would like to know more about the woman from Oregon and the sasquatch on her property. Does she have any photos or videos..pretty interesting.

        Thanks

  2. I think the government must have a rather low opinion of the American People if they think there would be mass panic. People, after all, know that there are 7 to 10 foot tall, fury, predatory animals in the forests with large claws and teeth, that occasionally attack and kill humans, but people aren’t in a massive panic that grizzly bears and polar bears live in the wild, often in close proximity to man (lots of people go camping with nothing but a flimsy tent between themselves and bears that wander into camp). So why Sasquatch?

    1. Try this: 95% of North Americans don’t live near grizzlies or polar bears. The 5% that do are wise to them and don’t go out without a gun and their wits about them- they also don’t intentionally go into bear territory unless they have to. And- grizzlies at least are still very wary of humans. Almost all bears never hurt a human.

Bigfoots, while not dangerous (maybe) to humans, are about a 10 on the freak-out scale for people- the Hairy- Half-Human Bogey Man come to life (if they do exist). They are also beyond mysterious- there is not much mysterious about bears. It is this fear of the unknown that freaks us out- just like UFOs.

Bigfoots allegedly live in areas far more extensive than the Griz bears or Polars- and far closer to more humans- if you believe reports that they are in Texas, Florida, Arkansas. They are also beyond mysterious- there is not much mysterious about bears. It is this fear of the unknown that freaks us out- just like UFOs.

So, interesting analogy, but no cigar.

      1. I think its all about money and politics think about it,if these creatures are proven to exist all of the land developers and big timber companies would catch a lot of flack from various preservation and enviromental agencys .these people supply alot of money for campain funds.

  3. But assuming there’s a conspiracy, for the sake of argument, I suspect the “Panic” line would be more or less a diversion or a smoke screen to avoid the real reason, which they wouldn’t give an ordinary citizen (classified, I’m sure.)

Speculation: Maybe the government bred or genetically engineered the Sasquatch, hoping it would be a candidate for the ultimate warrior of the future, and the project is either not over yet or has failed miserably (critters escaping perhaps) and they don’t know what to do about it? Or perhaps the Sasquatch is a biological venue intended to carry humankind on in the event of a horrific disaster that utterly destroys human civilization as we know it, forcing us to live without technology of any kind. The Sasquai, humans who don’t require technology, would carry on where we left off. The mind boggles!

  4. I’m but just one observer, but it seems to me that the Erickson Project/Ketchum/Olympic Project inner workings & relationships are dysfunctional to the extent that I find it hard to see how definite proof (to the world) is going to come about, when all is said and done. I have increasing unease about it all and don’t feel or get a vibe that the world is going to behold, and marvel at a Bigfoot proof rainbow.
As to the shooter’s identity, I believe that it can be confirmed. Now that his name is out there, and with all the reporting Lindsay has done up to this point, it doesn’t look like Smeja will be vindicated as innocent. I am anything but alone in that assessment. There’s probably someone or more who came to the same conclusion earlier than Nominay. Whether he goes on to prove this at Cryptomundo or at another site, we’ll just have to see.
The question is, would anyone care at this point?
Should Smeja be confirmed as the shooter, I think he’ll be fine. He’s not going to be harassed or threatened much. The outrage has dissipated, the issue has become ad nauseum, and the Crypto/Bigfoot community is moving on. American attention span in Smeja’s favor. That’s the shift in consciousness I’m detecting anyway.
As to the legality in question, I have only heard of but haven’t heard from anyone who can authoritatively speak to an impending arrest and charges filed. Besides, wouldn’t it have happened already?

  5. If “bigfoot” is indeed real, almost all the anecdotal evidence points to them being large, hairy humans rather than an ape. The Asian bigfoot goes by many different names, depending on region, that always mean “wild man” or “snow man”. The Native American names usually meant the same thing. Throughout the world, “bigfoot” has never been considered an ape, and always a human. Native Americans considered them as a tribal people. Their simian features are exaggerated because today, bigfoot hunters want to shoot them. Those who already have shot them want to pretend they are not murderers.

In addition, there are several historical accounts of modern human/”bigfoot” relations, and the resulting children always looked like us. See the story of Zana from Abkhazia.

Even if they do turn out to be apes, they are clearly dwindling in numbers and shooters should be prosecuted for killing an endangered species.

The reason the government wants to hide their existence is because their forest habitat is rapidly being destroyed and polluted. Only a few hundred years ago a squirrel could hop from tree to tree from Texas to Maine without ever touching the ground, that’s how thickly forested the US used to be. Acknowledging their existence would entail a public outcry and demands for reservations for these native people, which obviously would cause a loss of money.
