Tax Cuts Don't Create Jobs

The tax cuts and supply side economics of the past 30 years have actually destroyed the economy. Furthermore, tax cuts don’t create jobs. They never have. Certainly tax cuts for anyone making over the median income don’t create any jobs. This lie is straight out of Reagan – Stockman – Norquist. “Tax cuts create jobs.” They don’t! Keynesian economics does not believe that tax cuts create jobs either, though it does advocate tax cuts for those below the median income (at the moment, $32,000 for an individual) during poor economic times. Taxes should then be raised during good times, when the state does not need to run a deficit. It’s certainly not the case that Keynesian economics believes tax cuts = jobs. Barack Obama is on TV lately saying over and over that this massive tax cut bill will create jobs. It won’t. Actually, it will make the economy even worse. Bush’s tax cuts have been in effect for 9 years now. They have created -9 million jobs. They have created on average -1 million jobs for every year they have been in effect. I assume they will create -2 million jobs over the next two years if the past is any guide. Since the Bush tax cuts haven’t created any jobs and have apparently ruined the economy, how is extending them for 2 years, even for the middle class, going to create even one job? Someone answer me this? Barack also stood up in front of corporate executives at his Corporate Summit the other day and said that the tax cuts will create many new jobs. That was after this wimpy Black man got up off his knees after sucking all those rich White men off. Barack Obama is the White man’s bitch. How could any Black person be proud of him? Obama also called tax cuts “tax relief.” That’s the language of the enemy. That’s Reagan – Grover Norquist language. You can’t win by using the enemy’s language. The purpose of the tax cuts, ever since the first ones under Ronald Reagan, was to “starve the beast,” in David Stockman’s words, to deprive government of funding, and deliberately create a debt and deficit crisis. This spending shortfall would then be used to gut government spending, or to “get government so small you can drown it in a bathtub,” in the words of Grover Norquist. By following the mad tax cut mantra, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2 and now Obama have proven that they are all following in the footsteps of Reagan, Norquist and Stockman to starve the beast and get it so small you can drown it in a bathtub. So Clinton and Obama are actually Reaganites, as every President since 1980 has been a Reaganite. Barack Obama is the enemy.

  1. I’ve been thinking about this over the last couple of weeks and I’ve come to the conclusion that tax cuts alone will not create jobs.
What creates jobs is profit. It’s really as simple as that. If by creating jobs in the US more profit can be made, then that’s what will happen.
Profit of course is revenue minus expenses, and yes taxes are an expense. But so are expensive workers with healthcare (which is why employer supplied healthcare is an unsuitable concept in a global economy where companies complete with other companies in countries where healthcare expenses are socialized across all citizens or healthcare is just nonexistent.) If the cost of a worker is cheaper in India or China then that’s where the job will go regardless of where the revenue is created. It’s just that simple. If expenses are less here, jobs will be created here. If they’re not, then they won’t, but tax cuts in themselves are not enough to create jobs.
People need to understand, the standard of living is so high in this country compared to other places, it is simply impossible to sustain it without the rich kicking in a lot more than the poor. But if they don’t we become Brazil, really rich and really poor with no in-between. The problem is that the rich are international people and would simple abandoned the US and live elsewhere if things collapsed. I think a lot of them have already given up on the US and are just running out the clock.
By the way, I think the rich need to understand one thing before they complain about paying more than their fair share. They get things in this country that rich people in other countries don’t get. You know what that is? SAFETY. They can walk out to Starbucks and get a latte without the risk of getting kidnapped and having their ear cut off to be mailed with a ransom note (like in Mexico). They don’t need kidnapping insurance or have to worry about their kids going to school and not coming back because the FBI will step in at the first sign of kidnapping. They get to jog in central park, shop in Beverly Hills and hang out in the Florida keys without real fear for their life. They don’t need bullet proof vest or cars. They get to go to Broadway plays and music concerts at the staple center without issue. They can simply take a walk on the beach or down the street if they like without even being recognized. In effect, ALTHOUGH THEY ARE RICH, THEY GET TO WALK AROUND LIKE POOR PEOPLE IF THEY WANT WITHOUT THE FEARS THAT OTHER RICH PEOPLE HAVE AROUND THE WORLD. Hey, that junk ain’t free! Just ask the richest man in the world who happens to be in Mexico. Can he do any of those things in Mexico? I doubt it very much.
Now how much is that worth? 4%, 5% in taxes? Maybe much, much more. The rich should think about that before they cry foul.
