In two years, the tax cuts for the rich will expire. Republicans will seek to make them permanent. Look for another Republican hostage crisis.
In two years, the temporary slashes to the Inheritance Tax will come undone. Republicans will seek to eliminate the Inheritance Tax altogether. Look for another Republican hostage crisis.
In two years, the temporary Republican cuts to the Social Security payroll tax will expire. Republicans have already said that they will peg anyone seeking to reinstate the old payroll tax as someone out to raise taxes on the middle class. Republicans have also admitted that the payroll tax holiday was a Republican Trojan Horse designed to slowly kill the Social Security that they hate so much. Look for another Republican hostage crisis.
Obama will cave in on each and every one of these Republican terrorist demands just like he did this time. Each time he will be asked to give up something more, and he will do it in a New York minute. What will it be next time? And the next? The minimum wage? Medicare cuts? Medicaid cuts? Social Security cuts? Obama will give them whatever they want, and more.
