The Tea Parties Were Created By the Rich and the Corporations

Yes. The excellent George Monbiot notes that there is nothing populist about them. The Tea Parties were mostly created by the billionaire Koch Brothers of Texas, corporate fat cats who came up with the fake populist movement in order to reach their dream of a limited government. The reason they want a limited government is so they pay less taxes, keep more profits and are restrained by fewer regulations. They focus on high-polluting extractive industries and run oil refineries, chemical plants, coal mines and logging firms. They have had to pay 10’s of millions of dollars in fines oil and chemical spills and other industrial accidents. They want a limited government so they won’t have to pay those fines anymore. They’re taken the rest of you chumps along for a ride. When did the Tea Party actually begin? It had a disgusting beginning at the heights of America’s ruling classes. CNBC reporter Rick Santelli, shill for the ruling class, issued a call from the floor of Chicago Mercantile Exchange for a bankers’ revolt against the undeserving poor. He called for traders to dump derivative securities into Lake Michigan to protest Obama’s plan to “subsidize the losers,” by which he meant those who were behind on their mortgages. The very next day, Koch’s firm set up a Tea Party website on Facebook. So the Tea Parties were actually created by the bankster class as part of their scorched Earth mass foreclosure policy against America’s middle class homeowners. Some populism! As Monbiot sums up:

Between them they have constructed the philosophy which informs the Tea Party movement: its members mobilize for freedom, unaware that the freedom they demand is freedom for corporations to trample them into the dirt.

You idiots! You Tea Party clowns have been punked. You’re being played, and you don’t even realize it. Monbiot points out that democracy itself is at risk at fake astroturf grassroots organizations morph across the globe. They have even begun to the infect the UK.

Billionaires and corporations are capturing the political process everywhere; anyone with an interest in democracy should be thinking about how to resist them. Nothing is real any more. Nothing is as it seems.

Indeed, pay no attention to that rich man behind the curtain.

  1. Hell that was well known for ages.
I posted a link to the corporations that fund the tea party movement in one of your previous posts.

As pointed out in this article posted on Exiled website Koch industries made their fortune thanks to Stalin’s industrialisation project which Koch industries made by building infrastructure in the USSR.
“Everyone knows that Tea Party revolutionaries fear and hate socialism about as much as the Antichrist. Which is funny, because the Tea Party movement’s dirty little secret is that it owes its existence to the grandaddy of all Antichrists: the godless empire of the USSR.
What few realize is that the secretive oil billionaires of the Koch family, the main supporters of the right-wing groups that orchestrated the Tea Party movement, would not have the means to bankroll their favorite causes had it not been for the pile of money the family made working for the Bolsheviks in the late 1920s and early 1930s, building refineries, training Communist engineers and laying down the foundation of Soviet oil infrastructure.
The comrades were good to the Kochs. Today Koch Industries has grown into the second-largest private company in America. With an annual revenue of $100 billion, the company was just $6.3 billion shy of first place in 2008. Ownership is kept strictly in the family, with the company being split roughly between right-wing brothers Charles and David Koch, who are worth about $20 billion apiece and are infamous as the largest sponsors of right-wing causes. They bankroll scores of free-market and libertarian think tanks, institutes and advocacy groups. Reason magazine, Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute are just a few of Koch-backed free-market operations. Greenpeace estimates that the Koch family shelled out $25 million from 2005 to 2008 funding the “climate denial machine,” which means they outspent Exxon Mobile three to one.”

Actually before it got took over and subverted by big multi-national corporations the tea parties agenda was against big business and government policy.

“They have even begun to the infect the UK.”
    LOL!
Who do you think owns the major multi-national banks, oil and weapons companies, etc.

  2. NO.
The Tea Party was created by people with legitimate gripes. It was hijacked by fuckers.
It used to be about justice and rule-of-law, but was quickly hijacked by a bunch of spiteful Christians.

  3. The Ron Paulites claim they started it. Theyre pretty adament about it, go to the “DailyPaul” or any other Ron Paul forum.

  4. Charles Koch lives in Wichita, Kansas (not Texas) – about a mile from me. His brother David lives in NY. They aren’t Christian fundamentalist as someone upthread wrote; they are mostly libertarian. They teach free market principles, and try to implement those principles into their own conglomerate Koch Industries.
The Koch brothers don’t want to implement free-market policies because they don’t want to pay fines – although they do think that fines and heavy-handed regulations are detrimental to the economy and to the overall quality of life of the citizenry. The Koch’s father spent time as an engineer in the Soviet Union and came to despise communism in all of its forms. He passed this legacy – as well as his business – down to his sons. The philosophy of the Koch brothers uphold the ideals of human liberty as opposed to socialism which does not. Throwing money behind the Tea Party is part of that; the Kochs feel a need to support a group that provides a barrier against wholesale socialism that would hurt this country if implemented. Someone has to be that opposing voice. Plus, what’s the alternative? Runaway socialism? Do you really think that would be a good thing Robert?

    1. I’m a socialist. Of course runaway socialism would be a great thing for the country, but we are nowhere near that. At this point, even Canadian social democracy would be a great thing.
i don’t buy your line. He wants to not pay fines and to pay less taxes.

    2. we have no choice but to accept some form of socialism in this country now. the economy will never be what it once was because we don’t have enough jobs for everyone.

        1. exactly nobody. too bad obama can’t say that str8 out.
Robert, I’ve always been a bit of a socalist in some ways. The way things work, if you want to live in peace, you will have to carry some people.

        2. chic:
or the people can carry themselves without some utopian notion that someone will carry water for them. that utopian notion fosters an incentive for those people to leech off of everyone else.

  5. chuck that utopian notion fosters an incentive for those people to leech off of everyone else.
Most people want to work. It’s very boring sitting in the house all day while everyone else is out working. Most people like to fell like they are being productive. Sure a small part of the population will leach off of others but most won’t.
Sorry chuck but we will become a socialist country because there is no other choice. We are following in the footsteps of Europe because we are no in the same position.
