Conservative Lie #1,482, 091: The Public Schools Are Failing to Educate Our Children

This lie is very widely believed, even across the political spectrum.

A lot of Blacks even fall for this one. They believe it because public schools suck in Black areas. But public schools are just fine in White areas, so there’s nothing wrong with public schools per se. Public schools are screwed up in Black areas because they seem to be broke and falling apart. I’m not sure why they are falling apart, and I’m uncertain why they are broke.

The kids know that there are hardly any books, and the books that they have are 10-20 years out of date, so the smarter ones are pissed off and disgusted about this. There’s no money for anything in these schools, so increasingly, we teachers are supposed to pay for school supplies out of our own pockets. But why the Hell should we do that? I used to do it, but I resented it, and I would charge the kids for the pencils and pens.

In part, the Black schools are ruined by the Black kids themselves. They destroy the schools. They take the books and fling them across the room, cackling wildly. I could scream and yell and did, but nothing will happen. I could call the Administration, but they won’t come. Bottom line is there are a lot of shithead punks, mostly males, in Black schools who simply do not belong in regular classrooms. Where do they belong? I have no idea, maybe a Continuation School. They destroy things for the rest of them.

There is a trope going around that the Black schools are full of incompetent teachers. I sure didn’t see it when I worked there, and I worked in the heart of the ghetto for years. I saw maybe one incompetent teacher the whole time. Those are some of the most competent and dedicated teachers of all, and they deserve a shoutout.

Sure, private schools are better for Black kids. You know why that is? Because they throw out all the knuckeheads, that’s why! You get three strikes in those schools if you are lucky. What people don’t understand about public schools is that we have to take everyone, special ed, really dumb kids and the worst behavioral cases around.

Sure, we can suspend or even expel the real knotheads, but then the Blacks and anti-racists screech. There’s a lot of talk that Black kids are suspended or expelled on a far higher percentage basis than other groups. Black and anti-racist leaders constantly say what a racist outrage this is.

As someone who spent years on the ground in heart of the mess, I assure you there is no discrimination going on. The hardest thing to do in a Black school, other than teach, is to get a Black kid expelled or suspended. Or even sent to the office.

The Administration doesn’t want to deal with the knotheads, and they figure you ought to be able to control the class. Further, the Admins are heavily Black, and they are not wild about disciplining their own kind, which is logical. I can say with a clear conscience that the only reason Blacks (almost all males, by the way) are suspended or expelled more is because they are dramatically more likely to act bad. If anything, they are not getting expelled or suspended enough! Is there racism? Maybe, but I never saw any in Los Angeles at least.

Charter schools are another fake diversion. I don’t see they are needed. Why do we need charter schools? Because they wipe out the teachers’ unions! Yay! You know, those evil teachers’ unions. Let me tell you something, if you’re a schoolteacher and you don’t have your head up your ass, you want to be in the union.

There’s an argument that the union protects incompetent teachers. First of all, it’s hard to be a fuckup teacher. When I taught school, they rode on my ass 24-7.

It’s true, the riding is way worse in the White areas, and there’s little riding in the ghetto, but there’s little expectations in the ghetto because the students are so awful. Yet even in the ghetto, I tried my hardest. And most other teachers did too. Why? I dunno. Inner city teaching pretty much sucks, and the only people there are pretty dedicated. Anyone else just isn’t even there in the first place, or they leave real fast.

What’s the real reason for the endless conservative attacks on the public schools? In the US, conservatives are so insane and evil that they actually hate public education. I believe that they are ideologically opposed to it. I’m not sure if they want to wipe it out all together, but I think they want to defund it like 3rd World elites do.

Let’s take a look at a graph at how the public schools are failing our kids.

As you can see, public education is totally failing our kids. Snark.

  1. To Rob:

Sure, we can suspend or even expel the real knotheads, but then the Blacks and anti-racists screech. There’s a lot of talk that Black kids are suspended or expelled on a far higher percentage basis than other groups. Black and anti-racist leaders constantly say what a racist outrage this is.

This is similar to the problems of addressing crime in heavily Black areas. There are basically perhaps only 1% to 2% of the population who are highly problematic but they get recycled back into the population after probation or parole and lead younger people into “the life” because it psychologically and monetarily affirms their lifestyle. I’ve seen this happen repeatedly in Oakland. The Soviets used to disallow criminals to return to their former cities and neighborhoods of crime. It seemed to work.

  2. Reagan ran on abolishing the department of education and I know that’s been a right-wing wet dream for many years. Amongst the tea-party types, you’re seeing a growth in home-schooling. They perceive public school as being leftist, anti-American, multicultural and brainwashing kids into liberalism.

  3. Rob, have you read “Real Education” by Charles Murray of Bell Curve fame?

He’s one of the heroes of HBD, even though he doesn’t use the term directly, and says that about 5% of schools (you know which ones) are failures, but other than that test scores = F(parent’s IQ).

He also says that only 15% of high school graduates will graduate college with a degree whose hard knowledge they’ll use in their careers. The rest either won’t graduate, or will use their degrees as a sort of certification of the possession of soft skills, like knowing sentence structure and how to keep a schedule. The Duke Power decision has now put two generations deeply into debt before they even began family formation.

    1. How has the Duke Power decision put 2 generations deeply in debt before they begin family formation? That doesn’t make sense. Also, Ginsburg in her dissent in Ricci said that Duke Power has been effectively overturned by Ricci.

I don’t like Charles Murray at all. He’s a far rightwinger. He’s also a Libertarian nowadays, like almost all HBD’ers.

College is pretty hard. Most dumb people can’t even get a BA. Dropout rates for the dummies at state universities are extremely high, as they ought to be.

  4. Before the Duke Power decision in 1970, it was common for employers to give aptitude tests to job applicants. This screened for the basic skills, the way the army does. The Supreme Court ruled them illegal because of disparate impact on minorities (admittedly, test administrators knew less or cared less about cultural bias than they do today).

So, instead of giving a test, employers screen based on possession of educational degrees. Hence, everyone needs to go through an educational credentialling process, often requiring accumulation of debt at the very start of adult life.

  5. College is pretty hard. Most dumb people can’t even get a BA. Dropout rates for the dummies at state universities are extremely high, as they ought to be.

Negroes drop out a lot, too.

A spot taken by a negro that fails could have gone to someone who would have been successful, but instead went to a negro because of a rabidly leftist admissions committee. So in the end, two people lose out and more money gets wasted.

Maybe the leftists that control academia could institute a socialist policy with regards to GPA. Good students would have points from their GPA forcefully taken and given to negroes (that spend lots of their time at the university gym) to keep them from flunking out.

Oh, but that would make pre med students really mad…

    1. I doubt if many smart Whites can’t go to college because the space was given to a Black. Anyway, Blacks have a right to go to college, even if they can’t cut it. Let them go to the community college first. The universities still have standards, and you need decent grades to get in. The Blacks and Hispanics who can’t cut it (and that means large numbers of them) drop out pretty quickly. They are all gone by the first year or two. It’s better for social peace to let them go to school and flunk out than to jut ban large numbers of them.

  6. Let’s take a look at a graph at how the public schools are failing our kids.

Umm…that chart includes private schools as well as public. Maybe you’d like to put up a chart that shows only public school performance?

  7. In the US, conservatives are so insane and evil that they actually hate public education. I believe that they are ideologically opposed to it.

But isn’t forcing kids at public schools to sing songs about Obama and to chant, “equal work means equal pay” ideological?

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LA4xEDw7mY&hl=en_US&fs=1&]

    Shouldn’t you guys be teaching?

On a side note, I do indeed agree that “equal work means equal pay.” If you do a superb job, you should get paid a lot. If you do a shitty job, you shouldn’t get paid at all, but get fired. This should apply especially to teachers.

    What do you think, RL..?

    1. Ridiculous. You always have to pay anyone to do work. If they do lousy work, you pay them, and then you fire them. Not paying people for work is called slavery.

You should be most concerned about teachers in White areas. I taught there a lot and I did not like it at all. They ride on your ass so hard that it’s just not fun. There’s no way to be a lousy teacher in a White school, forget it.

  8. There’s an argument that the union protects incompetent teachers. First of all, it’s hard to be a fuckup teacher.

But there’s a whole bureaucratic system in place that makes it very hard for an incompetent teacher to get fired. In NY they make these teachers sit in rubber rooms and pay them while they wait!

The only ways I know of where a teacher can get fired easily is to sleep with a student or say anything remotely negative about blacks. Seldom do they ever get fired for being bad teachers. Just ask the legions of students across America.

    1. There’s tenure so they can’t get fired for political reasons, like say they don’t like the teachers’ politics. White schools are so evil that they would find out all the teachers who voted Democrat and fire them. White schools are not run by liberals at all. The kids are all rightwingers, and so is the Administration. Actually, so are most of the teachers. And you can’t propagandize any liberal politics. I tried. But in White schools, you can propagandize rightwing stuff all the time. If you say anything liberal, the White kids complain to the principal and their rightwing parents right away, lie about what you said, and try to get you fired. The Administration works for the parents and tells you to shut up. Then the guy in next classroom is going on about the evils of Swedish socialism. He’s been doing that for years without one peep from the Admins or the parents.

Biggest lie of all: White schools are liberal indoctrination centers. LOL! Yeah right!

  9. In part, the Black schools are ruined by the Black kids themselves. They destroy the schools. They take the books and fling them across the room, cackling wildly. I could scream and yell and did, but nothing will happen. I could call the Administration, but they won’t come.

Perhaps you should have very calmly repeated the various heretarian arguments about black IQ and violent behavior that you’ve gleaned from your readings over the years. I wonder what their reaction would be..?

  10. Public schools are screwed up in Black areas because they seem to be broke and falling apart. I’m not sure why they are falling apart, and I’m uncertain why they are broke.

Maybe because the black youths keep stealing all the new equipment or write all over them?

    1. Hmm, they destroy stuff in junior high. Not sure about high school. I did not see a lot of destruction there. High school is pretty good in most of the ghetto. By 11th and 12th grade, all the idiots are dropped out, in jail, or dead.

  11. I used to do it, but I resented it, and I would charge the kids for the pencils and pens.

I’m glad you are passing off good values to the youth…

Speaking of incompetence, I wonder why so many public schools around the world block access to teacher rating sites like ratemyteachers.com? They should be welcome to criticism from students on their performance. After all, the students and parents are the consumers. And teachers have no qualms about using class time to criticize various politicans on their performance. Why the double standard?

Plus, I think public school teachers’ college transcripts, work history, and exam scores should be widely available in a public database and be accessible on the Internet. This way, parents can make fully informed decisions when choosing a school for their kids. You want to spend twelve years in a hellhole. I know I wouldn’t…

    1. I don’t agree with this at all. Asshole kids and probably their asshole parents will tell lies about perfectly good teachers just to get rid of them. It will become a popularity contest. Teaching is not a popularity contest. If Black schools are ruined by the kids, so are White schools. White schools are ruined by the bratty kids and their asshole parents. The kids and their parents run the schools, the kids get to do whatever they want, the Admins work for the parents, and the parents are always running down to the school complaining about the teachers, for like getting their brat in trouble or giving him a bad grade. Kids get all these shitty privileges like the right to eat and drink in class. The teachers are all in fear of the brat kids and their asshole overinvolved parents.

My Mom said that when she was a kid and they would come home and say some teacher was mean, her parents would say, “Good! Teachers are supposed to be mean!” If they said that teacher got us in trouble, her parents would say, “Good! What did you do!” and they would back up the teacher.

Now, it’s all the White kids are like, “We don’t like that teacher. He’s weird. He’s mean. Bla bla.” And the parents run down to the schools and try to fire the teacher. Sucks. Teachers are supposed to be hardass.

  13. “it’s hard to be a fuckup teacher”

    really?

come on man…teachers have formed a guild, and the credentials to enter that fucked-guild are entirely bogus.

i don’t know what you mean by fuckup, i mean..i am one..but i guarantee that i could teach math better than most of those so-called math teachers they have now.

i was listening to npr or something and there was a call-in segment where they had a “math teacher” on the line…stupid bitch couldn’t even kind of estimate the number of feet in a mile.

yeah, that’s not really math, but jesus christ.

the whole system of credentials surrounding education ensure the only people who will teach our children are scammers and hot chicks who blow the professor.

i want to nuke america right now. i swear.

    1. I don’t know what to say. My experience was that it was a hardass field, and I didn’t see that many fuckup teachers. They were riding on my ass the whole time. I don’t think I could have screwed up even if I wanted to.

If you’re a real fuckup, you won’t even get hired. Even if it’s hard to fire you, they can make your life seriously miserable. I know all about this. I’ve been let go from a teaching position, but I was not tenured. If they want to get you, they are going to get you. I believe that they set their minds on getting me and just waited for me to screw up a few times.

I didn’t see that many screwups. I can only think of one, honestly.

And getting a teaching credential was very difficult. You have to go through a year or so of student teaching, and it’s like boot camp and they are trying to throw you out the whole time. Well, that’s how it was 25 years ago anyway.

I don’t buy all this “teaching is easy” shit. It wasn’t for me, and I’m smart.

  14. it’s funny, i just started teaching. after a year of unemployment i have landed a dream job of teaching computer programming at New School/Parsons in NYC.

so i have some perspective on this. it is surprisingly hard to teach. but i am teaching computer programming (PHP) which is on par with teaching math. there really is no faking it. the students call you out right away. honestly i don’t know PHP that well, most of my time i coded in other languages, but they’re all the same, or at least similar.

i’d gladly trade this high-stress job for one teaching high school math. and i would kick ass in that subject. but where a super-prestigious university will let me teach their grad students, a fucking high school will not let me teach math. really????

the teachers unions are wayyyyy out of control. i really support unions but they are just out of line in this regard.

  15. as far as what you’ve seen…well i don’t know what to say. it’s california. you all have lots of porn stars…and pretty ladies who keep it “private”….maybe it’s just way way way corrupt. i dunno.

you probably have great teachers out there, just retarded students.
