"Rationalization and its Discontents," by Alpha Unit

New post by Alpha Unit, our guest poster. The late Eldridge Cleaver admitted – in his book Soul on Ice – that he deliberately targeted White women for rape. He did it out of hatred and resentment toward White men. This is well known. This sociopathic criminal apparently could not bring himself to face his real enemy – the White man. He didn’t go around targeting White men for execution for what they had done to Black men. Instead, he targeted the White man’s woman. But he was deluded. Who could he have possibly persuaded that his conduct was about anyone other than himself? Most Black people harbor some resentment toward Whites. Some of it is based on our knowledge and understanding of our history in this country. A lot of it is based on experiences we have everyday in this country. Serious things like being shot and killed because the police think you’re a criminal and you made the wrong move with your hands. Things like that. Sometimes it’s little things like being followed around in stores, even though you don’t shoplift. Or going up to the counter in a busy establishment to pay for an item and being ignored, while White people who got there after you did are immediately “seen” and served. Or being mistaken for a valet when you’re one of the customers. Every Black person over a certain age has these stories. But sometimes resentment, or entitlement, is a result of indoctrination. Years ago when I was quite young, I was doing my laundry in the neighborhood laundromat, which was owned by an older White man who was one of the nicest people I had ever met. On this particular day, the White gentleman wasn’t in. But there was a group of Black kids there, some doing laundry and others just hanging out. These kids had figured out how to manually remove cans of soda from the soda machine–without first inserting coins. And they proceeded to do just that. The boy removing sodas from the machine was handing them round to his friends, and they were all acting as if there wasn’t anything the least bit improper about what they were doing. The boy looked at me and in a friendly voice asked me if I wanted one. I shook my head and said no. Do you know what they began to tell me, almost in unison? “But it’s a White man.” They were telling me that the owner was a White man. So it was okay to steal his sodas. What? Who told them that? What these kids were doing had no more to do with the White Man than what Eldridge Cleaver had been doing. They had given themselves a reason to do something they were already inclined to do. That’s what people tend to do a lot of the time. They feel inclined to do something, but for all kinds of reasons they have to pretend that it is the perfectly rational thing to do under the circumstances. But that’s what you have in common with your enemy, you know. He was utterly convinced, too, of the necessity of what he did. Of the importance and appropriateness of it. Just as you are.

  1. This is not really related to the posting, but I suppose it sort of is. I probably have a tendency to make too harsh-sounding statements sometimes. I make a strong distinction between the physical body (meaning mine) and the entity within it (me), and I make the same distinction between other people. I just tend to think, for example, that when I die, my body won’t be anything special. I mean, some Christians think that the Bible says the body is going to rise up out of the ground at some future date. But I don’t think it is. And I just don’t have a sense of awe of the physical body (the human body in general, meaning mine, mainly). It doesn’t work very well, and that’s the type of sentiment that’s shaped my thoughts in these areas.

  2. This is also probably not related to the present discussion, but…I think science gives people a good degree of realism about the body, in relation to consciousness. But some people, these days, who have no scientific training in school seem to be almost more inclined to have a “science-of-brain-as-magic” view of the brain and consciousness. It’s almost like the magical view can be in thinking that something so mundane as phospholipids and “meat” can take on special properties upon entry into the body. What distinguishes the neurons in the foot, for example, from those in the brain? Do the action potentials in neurons in the brain have a magical, consciousness-inducing quality? Anyway, I think my tendency to view things in this way shapes the way I think of things. I can respect the body, to the extent that any one individual values his or her body. And I think individuals are sacred, but I don’t think much of my body, personally. I mean, I’m sort of an idealist, as far as my view and expectations of the workings of the body go. I think of my body, for example, like an incredibly complex machine that needs to be “dealt with,” systematically. It’s like I have an almost adversarial attitude or relationship with my body. I’m driven by a “vendetta” toward my body. That’s a joke, but it’s sort of like that.

  3. Personally, I found that my experience with very bad physical health (in concert with some of the views I’d already had), after a “run-of-the-mill” viral illness, changed my view of things even more. My health was very much “not good” for a period of time, and there was nothing that anyone could do for me. The issues related to that type of thing are really complicated, of course, and I was expecting too much or was being idealistic, etc. But it felt was more of that sense of everyone being bewildered by the details of the physical body, basically, while simultaneously sort of exalting the promise of understanding it. It’s like I see all of the hope people have in sophisticated, detail-driven science, on the one hand, and what I perceived as an inability or lack of interest in helping me deal with the “details” of my problems. That’s basically been my experience, over the years.

  4. yes, white women know black men have been targeting us for rape and violence for decades , every since Kennedy ushered in the revenge of the non-whites in the 60s.
Its wasnt just one black man targeting white women for rape, humilation destruction murder, it was all of them.
and white men sat around and let it happen, and the general society did too.of course from all that , black men paid by ending up in jail, them and mexicans, but it says a lot about a culture when the women are so not important that this was allowed to happen and still does. And so many white women were hopelessly Liberal and self sacrifical towards the Black males and thier pity party of revenge and hatred.
oh yes and having a black mans baby, look at Obama, he made it on a white woman’s tit,not the black community.
This is why white women should stay with their own, if a non-white man wants to be in your life he will only bring you down,

    1. You feel that white men sat around and allowed this abuse of white women to happen.
I respect the fact that you think men have an obligation to keep women safe.

  5. A lot of it is based on experiences we have everyday in this country. Serious things like being shot and killed because the police think you’re a criminal and you made the wrong move with your hands. Things like that.

    Not again. Yawwwwwwwwn….!

You (and your coracialists in general) shouldn’t be mad at White people for these things. After all, we don’t personally know you and know for a fact that you’re of good character. We only know that Blacks have high rates of criminality, and often encounter personal confirmation of that fact, as a victim. So you shouldn’t be mad at us for being wary of you.
You (all) should be mad at all the black thugs for being thugs and, so, giving nice Blacks a bad image. — including the black kids who steal sodas from nice, elderly White gentlemen and think it’s not wrong.

    1. You’re right about this, and it makes me angry because I know that good black kids (especially black guys) pay the price for this reputation of criminality.

  7. “and it makes me angry because I know that good black kids (especially black guys) pay the price for this reputation of criminality.”
So it is beholden upon good Blacks to put the shaming where it belongs — on their own black thugs, rather than continue blaming some amorphous, ethereal, “institutional racism.”
The Jesse Jacksons and Eric Holders who conduct the resentment-indoctrination need to be shushed, by the good Blacks.
And until you do, race relations won’t improve. Because Whites have tried everything we can think of: Civil Rights, Affirmative Action, busing, community policing, drug rehab, Welfare, Welfare reform, education reform, more education reform, more education reform, Community Reinvestment Act, King-Drew Hospital, etc., etc., etc.
Certainly Whites haven’t managed to find some magic bullet to decrease the Black male criminality.

    1. For every black person saying that the black madness must stop (and they’re out there) there are a dozen defending things the way they are.
Believe it or not, there are some of us who understand full well that at some point this country is going to reach its limit when it comes to “correcting” the errors of the past.

To be fair, there is no shortage of White enablers out there also who are also pushing the meme that Black crime and relative under performance are due to (current and past..) White racism.

  8. edit:
    Sorry. Hit “return” too soon.
    — Despite 40 years of trying and trillions of dollars spent, the black crime rate is higher than the 1950s.

  9. Alpha Unit,
Do you have a sense of, regarding the number of Blacks who recognize the Black madness must stop, is it increasing or decreasing, do you think?

    1. I could be wrong, but I feel that the number is increasing–because of the Internet. It’s never been easier to get out your point of view and have it read or seen by a lot of people.

    2. Maybe I should modify what I said above. Maybe people with Internet access have never had more opportunities to get out their point of view–to a lot of likeminded people.

    3. To B:
Do you have a sense of, regarding the number of Blacks who recognize the Black madness must stop, is it increasing or decreasing, do you think?
They’ve always been out there, here’s one blog that ostensibly is Pro-Black, written by a Black woman that is simply scathing towards the “ghetto” Black mentality:
      http://blackconsciousthought.blogspot.com/2009/07/fuck-iti-am-done-with-african-americans.html

  10. To Alpha Unit:
The late Eldridge Cleaver admitted – in his book Soul on Ice – that he deliberately targeted White women for rape.
As I remember from reading the book ages ago, Eldridge started “practicing rape” on Black women first then moved on to White women. He was a thug who preyed on his own people first then rationalized by saying he was getting back at “the man”.

    1. Yes, he “practiced” on Black girls. Black girls have been used for “practice” in other contexts, as well, from what I’ve heard.

  11. To Alpha Unit:
Serious things like being shot and killed because the police think you’re a criminal and you made the wrong move with your hands.
I know you are just voicing some concerns of the Black community but I thought I would crunch some numbers.
The average number of homicides committed by Blacks on Blacks between the years 2003 – 2005:
    7505
    http://www.ojp.gov/bjs/homicide/tables/vracetab.htm
(Take the average of 2003, 2004, 2005 divide by 3 and multiply by .96 (96% of the Blacks killed in the US are by other Blacks..)
The average number of police killings for the same years: 367.
Now obviously some of these killings were fully justified as in the perp had a gun and was shooting at police or towards civilians. Let’s be conservative and say 30% were screw ups. That would be 110 people. Now all of these people weren’t Black. Let’s call it 50%. So that is 55. So were all of these police officers White..? Very unlikely considering 63% of the Detroit police force is Black and 66% of the Washington D.C. police force is Black.
    DC
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_Police_Department_of_the_District_of_Columbia#Demographics
    Detroit
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Police_Department#Demographics
So I’ll take a ball park estimate of 55 x .80 = 44 of Blacks wrongfully killed by White police. Tragic but the ratio of Black people murdered by other Black people to White cops wrongfully killing Black people would be 7505/44 or 170.5 to 1.
Given those numbers.. who should one fear more if you are Black..?
