Repost from the old site. IQ tests have been designed for a century now, and there is little real controversy anymore among psychometricians and psychologists about how accurate they are. The notion that they are culturally biased or inaccurate has largely been manufactured by the Cultural Left because unfortunately, the scores have not worked out very well racially in terms of upholding egalitarian principles. Much is also made of what IQ tests measure, and whether they measure anything important. Surely they measure the brains necessary to compete effectively in a modern society. They also line up well with many other things. The lower the IQ, the more likely the person is to do stupid things – go to jail or prison, commit crimes or lots of crimes, have kids out of wedlock or as a teenager, parent multiple children by multiple partners, be a lousy parent to your child if you’re female or refuse to support the kid if you’re male, go on welfare, engage in domestic violence, have poor to low morals, join a street gang, shoot someone or get shot, refuse to plan for the future, drink or take drugs, die young, never go to the doctor, engage in extremely risky behaviors, fall victim to injurious or life-threatening accidents, refuse to engage in healthy behaviors such as eating properly and exercising, etc. The lower the IQ, the stupider humans tend to act. The higher the IQ, the smarter humans tend to behave. These differences are most marked in a modern industrial capitalist urban society, and may not be so relevant in a tribal or village culture with strict behavioral norms. Studies in prisons confirm that prisoners have lower IQ’s than the norm. In particular, they tend to have lower verbal IQ, while their performance IQ may be normal. This performance IQ > verbal IQ pattern is also seen in sociopaths. These correlations hold across races, at least for Whites, Amerindians, Polynesians, Hispanics and Blacks (I’m not sure about Asians). It’s not just a Black thing. Holding IQ constant, the Black violent crime rate does not differ dramatically from the White rate (Gordon 1987). This is one reason I strongly support efforts to raise Black IQ. IQ is meaningful. If you meet someone with an 80 IQ, they won’t come across as a rocket scientist. If you meet someone with a 140+ IQ (like all of my siblings and my mother), they won’t come across as retarded or slow. If IQ were the fallacious, nonsensical and worthless measure the Cultural Left says it is, we would regularly meet 150 IQ people who were dumb as rocks, and the universities would be crawling with 80 IQ Phi Beta Kappas. That doesn’t happen.

I have no problems believing that blacks are stupid, but one thing that puzzles me is how a guy like Mohamed Ali (before he got punch drunk) summoned forth dazzlingly quick witted rhetoric, yet on his armed forces enlistment test he registered an 80 IQ. White guys with an 80 IQ can in no way shape or form talk like Ali could. I’m not trying to let blacks off the hook for performing poorly on standardized test, but I think those guys brains work a little differently.

To give you an example, I am the owner of a group to stop romance scammers on the Internet. Most of these scammers are Nigerians and Ghanaians. These guys have IQ’s of around 67 I think. And in some ways, they are indeed as dumb as rocks. But in other ways, they are absolutely brilliant.
Furthermore, we had some low IQ members of the site who kept getting taken by these guys. One woman probably had an IQ of 73. These 67 IQ Nigerians saw her coming a mile away and ran circles around here for months on end. They treated her the way a cat treats a dead mouse. We had a retarded woman on there who was so slow, she could not even be an effective member of the group and she had to be removed.
Her social skills were terrible and unimprovable. Her IQ was around 65 I think. Plus she could not deal with the Nigerians at all, and they were always running her around in circles. In terms of survival skills, street smarts, con artist skills, and understanding of psychology, these guys were amazing.
By contrast, your average 67 IQ White can’t even survive on their own, has zero street smarts, couldn’t con someone if they tried and in fact have to be protected from such folks, and have zero understanding of psychology.
Perhaps Blacks could be said to have a higher Social Quotient or Character Quotient – the ability to engage socially and understand social situations – than Whites or E Asians.
According to Richard Lynn’s IQ book, places like South Korea, Japan and Taiwan have the highest IQs. Yet can inhabitants of these places be said to have strong characters?
As a matter of fact, I believe that they do. They are more felicitous in social situations, that is for sure.
What cursed said is why I think we aren’t even close to conclusions about race and intelligence. I can think of many instances where a black person who scored low on an IQ test didn’t necessarily come across as unintelligent. Also tests show IQs of 70 for black Africa and I’ve even seen some groups with scores in the 60s, I think the Australian Aboriginees score 62. Now think about it, someone with an IQ in the 60s would be functionally retarded. They wouldn’t even be capable of normal activities like driving a car. Yet the average African or Aboriginee can operate a vehicle just fine and they are perfectly functional. So I do think there are some questions to be asked of how useful these tests are in gauging one’s intelligence, or at least the intelligence of groups that grossly-underperform on them. I’m sorry, I have a seriously hard time believing that the average African or Aboriginee is functionally retarded.
Also, IQ is only one component of intelligence. And I think its importance in society and good desirable behavior is very overrated. A person with a high IQ will probably be good at things like math, winning chess matches and solving computer programming bugs. However, IQ doesn’t measure more esoteric but possibly more crucial survival skills such as “common sense” or just general “life wisdom”. I’m willing to bet that the people who run the flat earth society are intelligent and probably would do well on an IQ test, yet they have no common sense if they believe in such nonsense. Look at Bobby Fischer, the late chess champion, guy’s IQ was probably off the charts, yet if you read any of his social commentary after 9/11 the dude was a complete moron.
The Mohammed Ali bit is interesting. It reminds of some of the freestyle rappers that I’ve heard. If you’re not familiar with that, “freestyle rap” is when a rapper has no pre-written lyrics but is making up rhyming verses on the fly that not only rhyme and make sense but can also be quite witty. I’ve tried it myself once just to see if I could do it, and found it extremely difficult. It takes intelligence. But who knows, if you gave these same guys an IQ test, they may not do too well. Maybe there is something to the multiple intelligences theory. Maybe we don’t know enough about the nature of intelligence to draw any conclusions of this time.

I’m not convinced at all that low IQ leads to pathological behavior. I think this is a values issue, not an intelligence/genetic one. For example, yes people in jail will probably have lower IQs, but I think a more accurate way of reading this is that people with low IQs are simply more likely to get caught because they commit more petty crimes. The leaders of crime rings are quite intelligent, they are the least likely to end up in prison. They are smart enough to cover their tracks, use lower IQ pawns to do their dirty work, work the system to their advantage and evade capture.
I really don’t like assigning low-intelligence rationales to behaviors that could better be explained by low VALUES.

Do not be prejudiced, people are not statistics, they are living breathing organisms that can change for the better, you are not dealing with reality. Perhaps by themselves, that is the average, but if helped to control their impulses, and regulate their minds, reduce the noise in the brain, it is more likely they will satisfy functionality. Where the hell are these intelligent people, they do nothing. The guy with IQ 200 is a theist for crying out loud, bring in the sanity quotient, cause that scale reduces what intelligence they have to use. I place humanity 0.6 average, with people in mad houses <0.5 sanity. Sanity is like oxygen, you cannot live without it. My knowledge comes from experience and effectiveness of my techniques at establishing better states of mind in myself.
