Jewish Use of the Word "Goyim"

In the comments section, an anonymous coward commenter wrote that Jews demonize Gentiles by referring to them as goyim. Mort Goldman, a well-known psychologist who is also a regular reader of this site, said he had not heard that word in decades, and anyway, it was more derisive that demonizing when and if Jews used it. He also said he thought it was BS that the word means cattle. Actually, it means people. Maybe goyim does mean cattle according to the Talmud, but I have no idea – I believe there are some Talmudic references equating goyim with cattle, but you would have to look it up, as I’m no Talmudic scholar. The point is, as Mort points out, that most assimilated Jews in the US have no use for the term. I dated a Jewish woman for about a year and I never heard her say it once. Well, actually, she did use the term goyischkopf which means something like “my stupidhead.” Jews supposedly say this when they do something dumb. That was my stupidhead talking. However, she really hated the Orthodox. She used to work at a Jewish agency and this Orthodox woman who worked there was always calling my gf a goyischkopf for not being Jewish enough. My gf used to put her food in the fridge, but this Orthodox woman took over the fridge and said that only Kosher foods would be allowed in there, and I guess my gf’s un-Kosher food was contaminating everything else. I told her that goy and goyish meant about the same to Gentiles as calling a Black “nigger”, and my gf was dumbfounded. She also acted dumbfounded when I threw a bunch of Talmudic stuff at her. She’d never read the Talmud and she yet she had had some sort of a Jewish education. That’s typical of most Jews I know. They don’t know the Talmud from Adam. So digging up all this sick and evil Talmudic stuff and throwing at assimilated US Jews is idiotic. I’m sure that there are Jews who have studied the Talmud, but now you are getting into the Orthodox and the people in Israel – what I call the Super-Jews. Especially, you are getting into the Jewish religion. Most secular assimilated US Jews don’t take Judaism all that seriously. I’m convinced it is pretty much a set of rituals to them. I asked my gf once what she believed in, and she said, “Well, we believe in God, yes, we believe in God…” She couldn’t seem to go much further than that. The religion of most assimilated secular US Jews is awfully minimalist. You go to temple for weddings, funerals, bar and bat mitzvas and that’s about it. Goy or goyish or goyischkopf seem to be words that some assimilated secular US Jews just say sometimes. They’re not even clear on what it means. If you tell them it’s offensive, they act shocked and dumbfounded. Some groups have taken on words or phrases they find offensive and tried to get them banned. Nigger, faggot, beaner, Chink, wop, etc. come to mind. The Aztlanistas are working on anchor baby, but they haven’t been able to socially engineer a banning yet, though they’re working on it. There has been no real effort by Gentiles to protest the use of goy, etc. by Jews, hence many Jews just use it without much knowing the baggage that it carries in some minds. When you get to Israel and into the more religious and Orthodox Jews, and they start tossing around goy and goyischkopf and whatnot, there’s probably more hostility involved, though as Mort notes in the comments, it’s probably more derisive than anything else. As for the word goyim, oh boy! Do the anti-Semites love this word! They love it so much that I swear I think I have only heard anti-Semites utter it. I doubt I’ve ever heard one Jew say the word goyim. I’m sure some do, but it’s surely not common. That your average, everyday, secular assimilated Jew goes around condemning all of us Gentiles as goyim all the time has to be up there on the list of the Big Lies of the Anti-Semites.

  1. Don’t forget shikse and its lesser known male counterpart, sheygetz (or -ts).
I am fairly confident that the etymology given at http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=goy is the true one. the word is all over the Bible, after all, including the New Testament. However I once showed a website containing all sorts of claims about the Talmud, including the goys=cattle thing, to an Orthodox Jew, and he said it wouldnt surprise him if they were all true.

  2. What does it matter what average Jews think or do? Jewish power and the effects that it brings are typically based in organized Jewry which is typically very Jewish.

  3. A saw a video at Yuotub where one jew called another jew Goyim – and this was from jew-TV in “USrael” in hebrew.
I read the word Shiksa in a major jewish paper.
Mort Goldman “well known” who? Link thx very much.

Ah. And it is also his ilk who argue that behavior such as this is
    normal:

I wonder why there are so many “Levy”s, “Cohen”s, “-stein’s”, and “-berg”s in your average psychology textbook’s name index?
    Hmm…

  5. Psychologi is just another jewish fraud. First the jews tells you there are al sort of wrongs in the goyim brain, then the jews tell goyim he has to tell him everything including his most secret secrets. Then the jews make goyim pay for all of this nonsence. Then on top of that the jews can blackmail the goy.
I have to admit that was pretty clever thought out. First the jew tells the goy its something wrong with him and then the jews get paid to listen to a stupid goy.
On top of that the jews can get jewsih criminals of the hook by declare the jew insane, and short after the jewish “doctor” can release the jew criminal by declaring him cured from mental illness. This way the jewish “doctor” can look up enemies of the jews in mental hospitals forever.
As I sais, that one is pretty clever, I have to give the jews that. Then you have the art of brainwashing goyim, and the jew (m)asses, you studie the brain and how you can manipulate the (m)asses – and getting paid by the same (m)asses. Pretty clever.

When the jew on USrael TV called another jew for Goyim, it was an insult, not a compiment. Io will see if I can find the video.

  7. Goy just means “nation” or “people.” But derisive use is derisive use, independant of what a word actually means. Not that I think that most Jews who use the term are using it derisively, as much as catagorically. google “Lenny Bruce” and “goy” to see how he defines it. Or Jackie Mason, for an example of distinction without assignment of inferiority. On the contrary, in religious communities, where gentilehood is often perceived as mastery of worldly pursuits, “Goyish” is a euphemism for authenticity, proffesionalism, and quality. It’s arguably more in the secularized-but-identified Jewish world that “Goy” often becomes, by dint of a need to re-inforce the importance of a nebulous and less ritually or theologically defined Jewish identity, that “goy” becomes a racial epithet, used denote something less righteously civilized. And much of the Zionist ideological enterprise was about becoming a goy (again, literally: “nation”) like all the rest: independent, by means of military violence. Successful, by secular standards of pirated wealth and worldly intelligence and technological know-how, along with a physical work ethic and profound cynicsm. This has led to a certain self-interested myopia and reflexive militant psuedo-toughness, almost as a parody of how the World and it’s functionalism was perceived by the early Zionists. No excuses, but clarification is good. Goy just means human, possibly the greatest insult of all.

    1. Thanks Mr. Leib. This is a very thorough expousment. It is absolutely dismissive and selected, likely, from the opinions and writings of Zionist Israelis. Do not tell me that, among Jews, the word, ‘Goyim’, is accepted to equate as a synonym for the word ‘authenticity’ or ‘well-traveled’. We both know what that word is used for; It is used to insult and divide.

  8. The Talmud is NOT the Torah, it is a book of supposedly “ORAL LAW”. As we all know the game Telephone and how oral tradition can be corrupted or invented. That is why most Jews do not read it, or follow it, because Rabbis wrote it. eg) It is not written law and thus cannot possibly ever be a reliable source for Judiasm. Only Hasidim and fanatical Jews believe in it. There may be some Oral laws that are valid but it is likely most of them are by far and large invented by the Rabbis (who did not exist in Ancient judiasm)

    1. Actually Jews follow the Talmud now instead of directly following the Torah because the Talmud is the Rabbi interpretation of the Torah. The Talmud is what defines the 615 laws that a Jew must obey including the Kosher laws. You won’t find Kosher laws in the Torah.

    2. Don’t read it? Is that why the novelist Herman Wouk proclaimed it to be the “hearts blood of Judaism?”

  9. “The point is, as Mort points out, that most assimilated Jews in the US have no use for the term.”
This is true. But one must understand that the racist jewish ideology refering to non jews as cattle is Real. It is not all jews. But they are many. Most probably live in israel.
You cant blame all jews for this just as you cant blame all whites for nazism. But they are in many way similar supremacist ideologies.

  10. As an evangelical Christian, I occasionally have to hear my pastor talk about the Old Testament, the Jews and the use of the word ‘Goyim’, to describe ‘non-jews’. Like the majority of the passive, brainwashed congregation, he uses the word without explaining the true connotations. I’m sure the high-end seminary school he went to never explained that using that word is identical to calling an African-American the ‘N’ word. I am a highly accepting person, even as a Christian conservative, I support homosexual marriage, I do not buy into stereotypes about ‘all’ Muslims are ‘this’. Or, all ‘blacks’ are this. However, as a decent human being, I have an extreme problem with extremism. I find Zionism, Orthodox Jews and especially Israelis to be among the most evil individuals on earth. Not only is their behaviour towards the Palestinians, whose land was stolen and handed off to them on the back end of a back-door deal to bring the U.S. Into WWI (The Balfour Declaration), their obviously contrived and scheme to control the West(the United States, especially) via absolute control of our mainstream media, deceives my country’s citizenry into supporting the world terrorism of Zionism and Israel. So, for you to ‘spin’ the bigotry, contained within the word ‘Goyim’, by blaming it’s importance on ‘anti-semitists’, and their disgust at being insulted,,is dismissive and insulting. I am far from what you refer to as an ‘anti-semite’ (which is a meaningless word in the context you employ it, in light of the fact that the Palestinians are the Semitic persons of the area currently occupied by Israeli settlers), but that word is unacceptable and it is a double standard for any group (in this instance, Jewish people) to insinuate that they have the right to bigotry, when, if someone used certain words, which are disgusting so I choose not to use them, about any Jew, they would never hear the end of it. Explaining away behaviour that feeds hate is irresponsible.
